Alright Playgrounders, I have a little challenge for you all.

Challenge
To get the highest Constitution score possible for an ECL/CR 4 character.

Stipulations
- This is 3.PF, meaning Pathfinder with 3.5 backwards compatibility.
- The base score you're working off of is 16.
- Any base race or CR 1-4 monster is allowed as the subject for this challenge.
- Any template is allowed as long as the ending ECL/CR is 4.
- Any class is allowed.
- You are limited to the WBL of a 4th level character (6,000 gold).
- No artifacts, infinite loops, high to heaven cheese (such as Pazuzu, Candle of Invocation, Pun Pun, etc.) or similar rule skating things are allowed.
- The end Constitution score must be permanent at all times.
- No homebrew.

Dragonborn (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20060105b&page=1) Dwarven (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/races.htm#dwarves) Mineral Warrior (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20031003e)? LA buyoff (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/reducingLevelAdjustments.htm) (never mind, LA buyoff is automatic in PF) at level 3, spend money on Manuals of Bodily Health.

And that's a 24.

Anyone able to do better?

would the 3.0 arctic template for +2 con, -2 cha at LA +0 (Dragon 306) be allowed?

Arctic, Blooded, Mineral Warrior, Lolth-Touched, Mongrelfolk (+3 LA) with the Willing Deformity (Obese) feat

+10 str, -2 Dex, +22 Con, -6 Int, -2 Wis, -8 Cha

Dragonborn Dwarven Mineral Warrior Dwarven Paragon 3 (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/racialParagonClasses.htm#dwarfParagon) gives you +10 by 3rd level. I seem to recall someone mentioning an Arctic template (+2 CON, +0 LA) as well, which bumps it up to +12.

You should be able to afford an Amulet of Health +2 (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#amuletofHealth) by that level, for +14 in total. That would make 31 CON by 4th level, assuming you put the ability score increase there.

Troll bloodline (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/bloodlines.htm#troll) would give you another +1 CON at 6th level, but doesn't help you now.

Maybe skip the Mongrelfolk, get Dust-whatever and Incarnate Construct in there for the -2 LA, and stick on another template? I can't think of anything specific, but it's always a good policy.

@Andion: Dragon magazine is allowed, but is Arctic +0?. And your build gets +22 Con, not +18.

So at Con 38, looks like you're in the lead.

@Erikun: While Pathfinder did make those enhancer items count as if they were permanent, the item is not legal to use in this since an AMF, disjunction or similar effect gets rid of the bonus and thus it's not really permanent.

@Gka: Can you elaborate? And there's no LA in Pathfinder.

oops, forgot to add the mongrelfolk's con.... and yes, arctic is LA +0

oh... 18 + 22 is 40 Con

There is no LA in Pathfinder, only CR. So unless Arctic is also +0 CR, your build isn't valid.

And the stipulations denote the base score you're working with is 16, so your Con Score would be 38.

CR is not mentioned, only an LA of +0

Is it similar to the Amphibious template?

yeah, that one doesn't list a CR adjustment either

Then you're so far the record holder.
