Ok so I'm playing an epic gestalt and my one side is Wizard Evolved Undead (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9511014&postcount=240) and the other is cleric/archivist of Vecna. The character is also a Spectral Mage(Magic of Faerun) On to my questions:
1. Cleric or Archivist? I know cleric has rebuking and domains but archivist can get all the divine spells.
2. What good necromancer prestige classes can I take on both sides?

Archivist doesn't get MAD and gives more spells, so that's solid. Also, take the Necromancer variant from UA for Wizards to get better quality undead.

Unfortunately, there's not many good Necromancer PrCs for this level... except for the Runesmith. That class lets you turn your expensive animation spells (like Animate Dread Warrior) into nice free spell like abilities. Also, Spell Like True Creation is fun.

I already have Ignore Material Components so that's not a problem anymore, I went with archivist.

I went with red wizard and focused specialist too boost my save DCs since the people in my group have saves in the 60s.

Not material components... Exp cost. Being able to spam Animate Dread Warrior without exp cost and, worse yet, True Creation without Exp cost is hilarious. Also, Wish.

No Dread Necromancer?

Runesmith doesn't fit to well with my character so I'll have to find a way to cast it without an xp cost a few times a day.

I'm not taking dread necromancer despite it being my favorite class, because I'm trying to avoid MAD.

Rod of Excellent Magic. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/magicItems/rods.htm#excellentMagic) Only once per day though.

Edit: Unless you can figure out a way to get additional uses per day out of it. I think there are some spells that grant additional uses of charged items (and this might technically have 1 charge per day). There might be a feat or two that allow you to burn a spell slot instead of spending a charge, though I think most of them are related to spell like magic items that have levels (wand of fireball, etc).

Rod of Excellent Magic doesn't provide enough xp for higher HD undead.

Spellstitched won't work either since I'm incorporeal. Any other suggestions?

Edit: Unless of course I can find a corporeal template. Maybe I should be a lich after all...

Necropolitan. No LA = Joy, and then you can spell stitch away. Just remember to have yourself created by a UA variant Necromancer or Dread Necromancer in a Desecrated area with an evil altar. D12+4HP/HD is a lot better than D12 HP/HD, and the stat bump is nice too.

If you get created as a Bone Creature via Create Undead then Corpse Crafter could apply, which would be even more hitpoints... but it costs you 1 LA.

I'm thinking of taking Walker in the Waste on my archivist side since Dry Lich is awesome. The lichdom will also fit well with worshiping Vecna.

Ah, yes, that's a reasonable one to do since you avoid the LA. Still use the Desecration and such for the extra hitpoints... more of those is always good. And you can be spell stitched that way too!

Would corpsecrafter, nimble bones and desceration apply when making myself?

I would say so. depends on the DM, I guess.

Only if you made yourself with a spell. Contingent Create Greater Undead to turn yourself into a Bone Creature or Corpse Creature should get the job done. Necropolitan and Lich and such wouldn't work, because technically no spells were used (though a DM may rule otherwise).

Mmmm... I'll add the bonuses and delete them later if he says it doesn't apply.

Any other suggestions for my character?

Some of his backstory is that his hand and eye was removed by a rogue paladin who doesn't like vecna much.

I'm also trying to find a book that he can carry around the entire time, writing in it etc. My DM allowed me to take eidetic spellcaster so I lost my familiar and dark knowledge so now I don't need a spellbook or prayerbook anymore. So the book shouldn't be a spellbook. The idea is that he writes a lot of secrets in it just like Vecna's philosophy.

Edit: I see. I'll not add the bonuses then.
