It is the dead of night and you are all resting in the town of Elmfall, Elmfall is located towards the North of the continent known as Devarim. Elmfall is located just at the western edge of the Great Elm Forest and during certain parts of the day is enveloped in the shadow of the trees giving the town its name.

The town is moderatly sized, encircled by wooden walls with a gate at each compass point. With a population of about One Thousand the town has its own guard rather than relying on a local militia. The primary export of trade goods is wood from the forest that is often supplied to the Dwarves of Gromzigar from the mountains in the west in return for Ore and gemstones as well as some pieces of fine Dwarven craft carried an worn by the richer inhabbitants. The Guard Captain Kemric wears a breastplate forged from Dwarven Adamantine that was given as a gift celebrating over 200 years of trade and alliance between Elmfall and Gromzigar.

Its is known to many that the Lizardfolk from the Great Southern Marshes dare to venture further North is the warmer seasons but the Dwarven armies are often sent to patrol and help protect the people of the south from danger, however this year the sun has arrived early and the Dwarves are as of yet nowhere to be seen.

And so it is Tuesday, a day like most others and you are sleeping in the comfort of your bed or bedroll or perhaps the discomfort of the street depending on your current circumstances. Wherever it is you lie you are suddenly roused from your slumber to the sound of the town hall warning bell and the shouts of men and women organising the town guard to the walls or simply shouting in search of loved ones.

Ok here we are, can you please include a description of your character and where they are currently in the town as well as your actions!

Leonardo grumbled, pushing aside the assorted garbage he had collected as a blanket for the night. He was originally hoping to sleep in the tavern until he could look for training or books on necromancy, but one look at Smiley sent Leonardo on the street. The skeleton in question seemed to be pacing back and forth, a vicious looking dog lying dead next to the skeleton. Leonardo stared at the animal, he merely gave Smiley the order to protect him but he never thought it would actually be done.

Sighing he lifted himself up from the ground, Leonardo began to put the dog in a more dignified position of death; at least as dignified as a dog could get. Leonardo was a slight person, he had little muscle on him, and was actually growing a small bit of fat drooping from his arms. He had light fair skin, that seemed to be taken care of carefully, hygiene speaking. He had a rounded head the shape of a pear, with a dirty blonde cowlick resting on top. Despite the fact that it was bed head it looked naturally groomed into position. His face seemed to be stuck in a permanent slight smile, his dimples coming fully out. Looking down to inspect himself he found a layer of dust lying on his black padded suit, it was as black as night, making it hard to make out in the lighting. The shoulders, knees, and feet pads were sculpted to look like skulls with spikes protruding out of random spots (Except on his feet, which took the shape of a dragon skull opening it's mouth, with twisted goat horns on it's head). On the center of the suit, covered in dust, was the special design that Leonardo requested. It was a crimson red skull, with two skeletal arms intertwining and spiraling upwards to carry the skull aloft. It's mouth was ajar and from it spewed forth some kind of red gas. Wiping the dust away he squinted his green eyes to make out what was happening around him.

He stopped after noticing that all the sound were coming from closer to the center of the town, while Leonardo was on the outskirts. Picking up his Spell Book he props it in one hand and picks up a discarded mug from the street. With a groan he looks at Smiley and says "Come on Smiley, we outta see whats'a brewing in the town". He begins to walk forward, Smiley in tow, and prepares his daily spells while taking a sip of the mug once in a while. All the while searching to see what's happening as he rapidly approaches the sounds.

When the alarm went off, Keralonen woke up with a start, his hand instinctively reaching for his crossbow, which he always keeps loaded. He has always been on edge since he ran away from the guild years ago, always think that his adoptive father would be after him, and after revenge. After realizing he was not being attacked, at least not directly, he put on his armor, and after checking that his daggers were secure, went out to the town square, hoping for a false alarm.

Dalped rises from the tavern bed he has been staying in and puts on his armor, picks up his shield and crossbow, and after a little thought, his small bag of coins, remembering that the last time he left without them they weren't there when he got back. His brown eyes bright and his black hair in a mess, he hurried down stairs as fast as he could, his speed surprising for someone so small. He burst out the tavern door in order to see what the fuss was about.

As you leave your buildings or nooks you look out upon the market square to see it glow orange with flame, the sounds of panic fill the air accompanied with harsh gutteral hissing coming from the mouths of your attackers. The Lizardfolk stand tall compared to humans but vary in size, some wield whips and blades while some amongst them carry large two handed poles topped with an open, barbed hoop. The flame coming from the thatched roofing of many buildings, upon arrival the Lizards threw flaming torches in an attempt to fill the street with more people.

Perhaps the most disturbing sight other than your kinsmen being whipped and beaten is the train of large boney creatures slowly being led through the town gate. These beasts stand on four legs and are laden with leather bags and wooden cages, the most unusual thing about the creatures is that just below their blood shot eyes is a leather sack tied around there mouths. It resembles a horses feed bag except that thick fumes are eminating from within. They are simply trundelling through the town square as directed by the whips and goads of the Lizardfolk.

In total there are about twelve of these beasts and the Lizardfolk may well be in the hundreds, it is hard to tell as more are entering through the battered gate as others run amock amongst the town, snaring and dragging its people towards the lumbering beasts.

You all stand towards the west end of the market, the broken door lies to the north and Lizard folk are everywhere, they are starting to spread further into the town through the roads and alleyways. It wont take long before one will notice you.

His eyes narrow as he takes in the cruel spectacle before him. His trigger finger is itchy, wanting nothing more than to send a crossbow bolt screaming through the eye of one these scaley bastards....

Yet common sense prevails. He's been in tough scrapes before and he knows what happens to men that charge in recklessly. He hunkers down behind some barrels near the entrance, ensuring his crossbow is ready & loaded in case one of the lizardfolk wanders too close. A whiff of fumes from one of the bags carries on the breeze to him. He wonders if it is some form of feed for the packbeasts or if it is some form of control. The latter could be useful, he thinks, if suddenly taken away...

For now, he watches.

He waits.

You drop down and hide behind a barrell left outside of the Weeping Widow, its content smells rather badly of stale mead wood waste. As hard as you try you cannot quite seem to get your broad frame to cramp up behind the slightly smaller than preffered barrell.

Allison
Your body twists, snaps and contorts into your new form of a scaly, bestial member of the Lizardfolk race. You do notice though that your clothing still makes you quite out of place and your magic sight shows nothing out of the ordinary.

One of the larger, man-catcher wielding Lizardfolks points at you before thrusting a clawed finger towards the barrell next to you. "Mak't Gro Tchk-akh!" Behind the barrell hides an older man wielding a crossbow and wearin a wide brimmed hat.

Leonardo
As a Lizardfolk carrying a wicked barbed spear walks past you you cast the spell, a small smokey nimbus of light appears around it. After a brief pause the creature shakes its head and the magic disapates. Its small reptilian eyes then fall onto you full of menace and violence.

Keralonen
You duck back into an alleyway, pressed up against the wooden wall of the Weeping Widow Tavern. The shadow of the overhanging roof provides you with protection from the light of the flames.

Dalped
At the sight of the carnage outside you quickly pull yourself back into the tavern and hide within, the main room is empty as the rest of its inhabbitants have stayed in the rooms.

Ok so none of you can understand the Language of the Lizarkfolk, they speak Lizardfolk not Draconic. It always bugged me that they speak the language of Dragons just because they are reptiles!

Initiative is as follows:
Keralonen 23
Leonardo 19
Dalped 18.5 (Higher Init bonus that Doc)
Doc 18
Allison 12
Lizardfolk 9

Peaking from between the barrels, he sees a figure move out of the shadow. The figure's form begins to twist and warp grotesquely before settling on the form of a lizardfolk.

His blood runs cold - it's not the first time he's seen a shapechanger and he sure as hell hasn't forgotten the last time. After a barked instruction from a somewhat larger lizardfolk, the shapechanger approaches his hiding spot.

He stands up, moves his back to the wall and, for the briefest of moments, considers shooting down the shapechanger where it stands.

"Ah don't know if ye can understand me when I say, 'Stop right there'", he says to the shapechanger. "But my friend here can speak a lot more tongues than me and he's not one for chatterin'." he continues, levelling the crossbow squarely at the shapechanger's head.

Staring at the Lizardman Leonardo smirked as he saw his magic trying to work, but it was quickly lost the instant the wisp went away. So he acted much like most guilty men do. With a tug of his collar and not one gulp but two. Slinking back into his armor to try and obscure himself from the world, he began to rapidly look through his mage spell book in order to find the right spell. Pointing his finger at the Lizardman he squeels "Gettem Smiley! Gotta run gotta run gotta run" and casts the spell Ray of Frost while Smiley runs forward to chop down the lizardman.

His eyes narrow as he glares at this shapeshifter. He speaks very clearly but softly, so as to not be heard by what he thinks of as the Overlizard some distance away.

"Ah don't trust ye, but Ah'm not seein' a whole bunch o' choices in front o' me. Do as ye will but if ye try to cross me, Ah'll bring the Sun hisself down on ye."

Keralonen
You manage to move around the building with no resistance, you get to the corner and witness the goings on in front of the Tavern. The next bit applies to you also.

Tavern front
Whether it was because Allison did not reply to him or maybe because he saw the halfling peer round from within you cannot tell but the large Lizard folk lets out a bellowing roar that attracts the attention of others nearby. The eyes of 6 Lizards fall upon the group and run to attack. Three wield short and wicked blades, two carry man-catchers and holds a barbed spear connected to a long length of twine. The leader barks out orders at the others, they a quite obviously bolstered and motivated by its demanding words.

That was there turn.. GO!
All Lizard folk are now 30ft in front of the tavern and closing in.

Leonardo
In your desperation your spell fires wide icing up a patch of nearby wall. Sadly Smiley's blade does similar and passes beneath Lizardfolk's arm.

The creature leaps forward with its spear, thrusting it at the Smiley's skull. Its tip scrapes across the bone drawing a line down his skeletal face.

With DR Smily takes 1 damage.

Muttering a truly spectacular array of curses regarding shapechangers, lizardfolk and wretched turns of luck, he scans the approaching lizardfolk before targetting one that is carrying a man-catching staff.
