So I've hit a wall in my DMing and of course I ask the playground for its knowledge.
What sort of creatures would lurk in or around battlefields and burned out ruins of villages? Also where could I find them, which books?

It might help to narrow down the encounter level(s) you're after, much depends on it.

Sorry I was mistaken, the creature I was talking about is called Crimson Death. Also ghouls are probably your best bet for low levels, but try to find some variants or add templates to change the monotony
