So, I recently got a 16 gig flash drive. I plug it into my computer to transfer some files and something weird happens. Like, a window for the thing will appear for me to transfer stuff, but then it will disapear and my computer will tell me the flash drive is not there. I have it plugged in though. Also, the window for the drive will keep popping up and then disappearing. I've tried this on multiple computers and for all of them they tell me it's not there. I'm wondering if there's any way I could try and fix this. Though I'm not even sure how. I bought it like a little over a week ago. And the first time I even use it, this happens. This really angers me because I spent nearly $50 on a 16 gig flash drive, and it doesn't work. I didn't do anything to it. I'll head over to the place I got it tomorrow to see if I could get a refund or even exchange it for another. I think I just got a bad one. Like, I have another smaller gig flash drive just like this one and it works fine. Just thought I'd check to see if there's anything I can do to save me a trip to the store to complain to the returns desk.

Oh, one more thing. It's another flash drive I have (I have a lot of them). It's 4 gig, I deleted everything on it (at least everything I could see in the window for it) and I tried moving some files to it that were less than 4 gig in space. My computer told me I need like another 100 meg of storage. I actually posted this before about not having enough space after I deleted something and I should like check the recycle bin. I just thought I post this here as well before I look through all my previous threads for the one in case someone here knows how to fix this.

I had an SD card reader that had the same thing going on with appearing and disappearing like that. Drove me absolutely nuts until I tore the thing up and saw that some of the soldering melted together, pretty much short-circuiting the device. Not saying that's the problem with you, but yeah, take it in for an exchange since you can't get it working on multiple computers.

As far as the 4GB drive goes... Have you checked for hidden files, maybe? Either among the files you're copying or on the destination drives.

Eh, it's a longshot, I just thought it was worth checking.

Cool. Thanks. This should be useful.
