Nix Nihila's Costume and Fashion Design Thread

I've decided to start my very own art thread in order to motivate me to do more art every day. I'll be focusing on fashion sketches as well as photos of my fashion projects as they progress, but I might branch out to posting other art.

I'm a little rusty with my drawing, as I mostly do three dimensional art now, but hopefully my sketches get across the general feeling of each piece.

Any constructive criticism for either my drawings or the actual pieces would be much appreciated.

My first submission is a quick 5-10 minute sketch of a green dress I was thinking of. It's not great, but I already have a few ideas for ways to alter it if I decide to do a new sketch.

Hmm... a bit too tube shaped, i'm thinking. You need a really slim shape yourself to be able to make that look good. Anything else will either need a side-slit on the skirt or look like a sausage. :smallsmile:

(But then again, i know jack about fashion and just go by "does this look nice to me" for this. The Mens Way. >_>)

Yes, it is rather tubular. I tend to have that problem with a lot of my sketches. It's something I definitely need to work on. Of course, the dress wouldn't look like that if I made it, I just didn't translate my idea very well.

So I'm currently finishing up a dress I've been working on in my spare time for a couple of months. It's the first dress I've ever made, so it was a bit of an experiment, but I'm fairly pleased with how it came out. The only thing that irritates me is that I feel like it's split in half too much.

Mhm... there is a certain "Darth Vader" quality to it, if that makes any sense. :smallsmile:

Yes, it is a bit reminiscent of a chitinous exoskeleton or something.
