Does Use Magic Device allow you to use etherealness if you have a night hag's heartstone? Does it depend on whether you're playing 3.5 or Pathfinder, since their respective versions of the item differ slightly?

If the answer is yes for either edition, why haven't I heard of this great trick before? Not that I'd allow it, but... you know.

Yes, you can emulate a Hag.
Why? Because finding a Heartstone has DM issues: you can't make one (no listed item creation only cost).
So you have to go Night Hag hunting again DM issue (will he let you find one).
Although, it is a cheap resistance item but ten uses (you need to be the creator hag not just any one).
Although, UMD will let you emulate race for using etheralness.
