Follow the adventures of Marvin the Mage (http://www.mudpuppycomics.com) - misanthropic mage, medieval grifter, and middling card player, as he tries to make his way through a perilous multiverse with as little effort as humanly possible. Marvin only has one iron clad rule: NO dungeons, and NO dragons!

BONUS: We’re giving away a personalized Marvin cartoon to the first 25 Facebook “likes,” and we only have seven left to go - so don’t let the pit trap hit you in the rear!

Cool, how often do you think it'll update?

Magicman
2011-10-21, 04:19 PM
The regular comic story will update once a week, guaranteed. It may be more, but that's the iron-clad promise. Bonus art, single panels, and extras will happen more often than that, with RSS, FB alerts, and tweets going out for each update!

You know, that just gave me ideas for my game.

So far I am really liking the comic, though the jury is out on wether i like Marvin or not, not as a character but wether i would in-game so to speak.

Also, poor poor Spork, though now that i think about it i really want to see wether he will become an example to an expanded "melee can't have nice things".

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far and the comic is definetly going on my "to watch" list.

So he got the Throne.
I can't really see anything definite for the other two, maybe Balance and Star?
The money could indicate another Gem considering the rules of the deck.

So he got the Throne.

Those were excellent guesses, Re'ozul! You almost had it perfectly. Spork drew:
The Throne: Gain 18 charisma and a keep.
The Star: Gain 2 ponts in your major ability. (Despite being a half-orc fighter, Spork's primary ability was intelligence. You'll note that although he speaks in a stereotypical dumb-orc dialect, his thought balloons depicted a higher intelligence, perhaps indicating it's all an "act.")
The Moon: You are granted 1-4 wishes. Spork wished for (at the very least) two French maids and a wheelbarrow full of money.

The moral: sometimes melee types do get to have nice things... New page tomorrow!

So...close. Bilbo brings it to 4/5. But who is the mystery man from TSR?

That's not Tom Wham, but if you like his games you should definitely track down a copy of his new one, Feudality. I got spanked at it playing in demos at Gary Con - it's got a great game mechanic and Tom Wham art... what more could you want?

Again, hmm... So many of the TSR Alum now have beards and glasses.
Tim Kask?

You do realize I'm going though the names from my Player's Handbook, the best gift of Christmas 1980?

...and we have a winner! Besides being a good friend and supporter of Marvin the Mage, Tim recently revived his OD&D campaign and a few of us lucky bastards here in Cincinnati get to try our best and not get TPKed at his table on a regular basis

Shoot me a private message with your email address, SHO, and your prize will be winging its way to you shortly...

Your YottaQuest link is broken. Check the http lead in. It shows as hthttp on the hover link...
It is the Tales from the Backroom link page. Neither link works, both lead to 404 errors. The link itself looks like a mash-up of two or more links.

BTW, cool t-shirts. :smallwink:

My apologies to all forum members. In my enthusiasm, I forgot one of the forum rules and broke said rule - hence the scrubbed entry. I promise to be more mindful of my posts in the future : )

...and those links are now fixed. Thanks for the sharp eye, Mr. Half-Orc sir.

Hey Magicman! There is a thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=247033), asking if Gary Gygax was a good GM or not. Do you think Tim Kask might be willing to write a reply to that thread?

I doubt Tim Kask would opine about EGG as a DM on that thread, but he does have a "Ask Tim Kask" thread over at Dragonfoot where anyone could pose that question to him:

Q&A With Tim Kask (http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23223&start=3555)

One of my biggest personal regrets is that I never found the time to drive to Lake Geneva and sit at EGG's table, even though I had a standing invitation via my friend Jim Ward. I can tell you that I play in Tim Kask's OD&D campaign, and we have mondo huge fun every other week. That said, old school style D&D is not for the faint of heart or wuss of butt : )
