[Steam] Thread XXVI

⏎ Steam Groups

There's a variety of groups on Steam that certain members from this forum have created related to these games, ranging from vague to actually useful. If you'd like to be part of these, either ask a member of the group you wish to join, or message one of the Administrators there. Or create a new group for a game that hasn't been listed, or otherwise fills a niche. A few of these listed here;

Giant in the Playground (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gitp)
Chocolate Hammer (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/chocolatehammer)

New thread ho!

Anyway, responding to...

I would be interested in a pre-made character, especially if you'll let me watch you make them. and walk me through the process?

I can whip up a character right tonight and narrate the process of creating the character on a gdoc. Note that my process can be wild and erratic at times. Character creation is rarely a straight line of steps.

Your thread announcement was lacking in both boldness and size.

That's what she said. When she almost scrolled past the announcement.

Quick question on TF2:

Is there any way to lower the map loading times? I find that I often end up having to wait anywhere from 3-5 minutes for a map to load when connecting to a game. Other source games (CSS, L4D, HL2) take nowhere near as long as TF2 often ends up taking.

I find L4D2 takes an eternity to load actually...

Perhaps you could try manually allocating RAM (-heapsize)?

C'mon, man, I asked nicely if I could post this one! (And we didn't even get to vote on thread names! That's half the fun of a new thread!)

On my old PC, it was hell. On my new one, well, let me just say I'm happy I upgraded recently. The i7 2360QM is a savior. It's a great mobile processor, and let me say that I'm impressed they fit a 4-Core CPU into a laptop. Well done, Intel.

Perhaps you could try manually allocating RAM (-heapsize)?
Here, punch this into your launch options. -refresh 60 -high -nojoy -novid -noforcemspd -nofoorcemaccel -noforceparms

That improves load times, CPU priority, and some other stuff. As for heapsize, find the byte count your RAM occupies, and divide it by 2. That's the value you should put after heapsize. With -refresh, your monitor's refresh rate should go there. The other ones just help with removing performance chugging limits. -dxlevel also helps, like -dxlevel 80 (for DirectX 8). It should improve performance in ANY source engine game by about 10-15 FPS, depending on your PC.

Uh, your specs would also help.

I'm not a fan of ponies. Also, if that's the new QQ, then I'm XP. Also, it was a request, not a complaint. And that image is really pissing me off.

-refresh 60 -high -nojoy -novid -noforcemspd -nofoorcemaccel -noforceparms

None of those options actually contribute to map loading times. I'd rather my refresh rate be variable, thanks, since I have a 75 Hz monitor. -high doesn't actually do anything in Source Engine games IIRC (though -low does work). nojoy disables a nonexistent joystick, and doesn't actually shave any possibly noticeable time (unless you're a freak of nature that can notice say, a few microseconds). Again, novid doesn't change map loading times (and TF2 doesn't even have a loading video as far as I can recall)... so.... and yes, I'm one of those freaks that plays with mouse acceleration on, which the last three terms relate to. So... lesson learned?

Considering I was the one that suggested the heapsize command line argument in the first place, I think I'd know how it works. :smalltongue:

Also, -dxlevel 80 is incompatible with any of the newer Source engine games (the ones not running off Source 2007, a.k.a. hl2.exe, with the shortlist being uh, L4D2, Portal 2, Alien Swarm)...

Assuming of course, your comment was actually directed at me, and not at Drager.

Edit: and Drager, the other one you might want to try is:
+cl_forcepreload 1 (or +cl_forcepreload 0 )

It was for you. Just putting up the example of what's possible. Plus, I assumed it was Source 2007. (I would've point it out that Left 4 Dead and beyond would not accept DX8, but why? Such a small margin on an already small list.)

Oh well, if you're on a cruddy PC, those help. I just enable them because even though I run a 2GB card, I still enjoy comfort in knowing I've got small increments of improved gameplay. (Also, I don't run in DX8.)

It's strange. I'd peg you as someone who really be into it. Ah, well, different tastes.

It's strange. It's something I want to be a part of, but I feel so childish when I watch it. I guess in comparison to the other shows I watch, it's not as "me-friendly" as I'd like. And the shows I watch consist of a small list of largely adult programming.

Dexter
The Walking Dead
Chuck (I know, for the family, but it's fun.)
Beavis and Butthead
South Park
Torchwood (Not as much Doctor Who as I used to, but oh well.)
Thundercats

As for the last one, I wish it were as popular as the pony phenomena. But I suppose a man can dream. And it's not the new series.

Yeah, I guess MLP:FiM can seem a little kiddish with all the rainbows and cute ponies. HOWEVER!!! I'm curious as to if you've seen "Party of One (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1EPEBW9IcU)" or "Lesson Zero (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3F49D1WiQ4)", both of which pulled sort of a break the cutie/mental deconstruction with two of the main characters (Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle respectively) and might suit your tastes a little more than the other episodes.

On topic... er... I mean on a new topic relating more to Steam... Does anyone have a spare Widowmaker or Diamondback? I'll give a scrap for either one.

But I'll stop pushing it, and this is so not the thread for all this.

...I've just realized that I don't have much to say in this thread any more. It's basically all WoW and making videos these days. I'd play more stuff if I had more drive space...

Protip, just for reference: VRAM in laptops is often "shared" with the system RAM.
For example, in my netbook, my Mobility HD6250 has 6250MB of 256MB of dedicated memory, and can take up to 768MB of the system's RAM to get a total of around 1GB of VRAM.
In my old laptop, the video card had 64MB of dedicated memory, but shared 192MB with the system RAM to give a total of 256MB of usable VRAM.
Something very similar is probably happening with you. And again, VRAM is not a measure of graphics processing power in any case. It's misleading, and oftentimes, even in desktop graphics cards, an extra 1GB of dedicated VRAM is worthless if there's a bottleneck in the GPU architecture (and there often is!).

So again, VRAM quantity and manufacturing date are not indicators of performance. (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card-gaming-performance,3042-7.html) Also a 540M is kind of equivalent to a desktop 7800GTX by the way.

Not trying to antagonize you or anything. Just illuminating you with tasty computer knowledge. Of deliciousness.

I'll poke around with the launch options that where posted earlier, although it might just be the fact that my PC is really out of date that's causing this. 2.8ghz dual core, 2gb ram, radeon x1600 gpu is the basics of what I'm working with. Oh, and it's over 5 years old (With regular airblasting/defragging)

It's enough to play most of the older games I enjoy, but I really hope to pick up a new computer before the end of next year. I don't really want to upgrade this thing, I'm pretty sure it's got all the ram it can handle, finding a new compatible gpu would be a pain, and the processor isn't really that bad.

Here's where a little bit of reading can be incredibly helpful. :smalltongue:
(considering the first of my posts in this particular conversation was directed at Drager...)

I'm on a 2.3 GHz 2820QM with a 6750M (1GB GDDR5), roughly equivalent to a desktop ATi 5770... so I have absolutely no problems running anything at all.

Huh? New thread? Need to say something witty...

Art thou so pretty, so witty, so free?!

That's not too out of date. 2.8GHz can be deceptive. Core 2 Duo? Athlon II, Phenom II? What socket are you on? If you're on Intel 775 you can usually find a cheap Core 2 Quad used somewhere. RAM is also cheap. $30-50 can get you up to 8GB depending on type (DDR2 vs. DDR3). The biggest improvement you could put in for is a new GPU. Sadly, that's probably the most expensive... :smallannoyed:

It's the thriller dance. Lasts only for Halloween. Every time you taunt it has a random chance to play the thriller dance or the original weapon taunt.

Best way to make it look cooler, assuming they haven't "fixed" it- find a Huntsman sniper and light his arrow. Get him to do the dance. The fire follows his hands around in a neat figure-eight trace.

I bought this thing pre-built a number of years back, before I realized how much cheaper it is to build one yourself, so I was able to find the near-exact system specs on HP's website. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00585745) With this being the motherboard. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&lc=en&docname=c00864946) Only difference I notice is that my graphics card is a radeon x1600, not Geforce 6200.

I should actually go and pick up those last two 1gb ddr2 ram chips....never realized this thing was only using 2 of 4 ram slots. I might pick this up sometime soon (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1558820&CatId=1654)

This looks like the processor I'd be looking to get if I wanted to upgrade it, but 2.8 ghz has been working out fine for now. (http://ark.intel.com/products/30785) It appears to be selling for around $100.

I'm not completely sure about the best graphics card I could toss into this.....

Now look what you've done, making me research potential upgrades for this thing.

The linked CPU is only a 200MHz boost in the same family. It wouldn't really be an upgrade. You've got S775, so you could probably find a used Core 2 Quad (ideally Q6600 or better) for around $150-200, maybe cheaper.

Your choices in GPU are somewhat limited, since your expansion slots are either PCI or PCIe (1.0). Depends really on how much you want to put into this at this point.

For an HP prebuild? Nah. Anything you can reasonably pair with the PSUs packed with those won't get near saturating 1.0, never mind 2; if he was going to get into cards that would really warrant that concern, he'd be close to entirely rebuilding the system to support them.

I'm keenly aware that the 2GB is nothing but filler. It's a 1GB card, but the same laptop with twice as much RAM and VRAM was discounted (iBuyPower specials as frequent as Newegg). The extra gig is only useful for basic things, like increasing the core clock.

Any one here who has GSB, any suggestions for ship and fleet designs?

Aha! Ship designs you say?

For starters, you would want to specialise your ships. I have three general designs for my Cruisers.

The Anvil. This is the ship that'll be going knife range, fitted out fully with short-ranged Cruiser Lasers and bristling with as much Shield and Armour as you can pack it with. (Good engines help as well.) It also helps that Cruiser Lasers are excellent at wearing down Shields and are moderately capable of busting through armour. I use these the most.

The Missile Boat. What the tin says. Fill the weapon slots all with missiles. Works best with Multiple Warhead Missiles. Can also be used with Plasma Cannons.

The Hammer. Kit this one out with as much medium range lasers of doom as you like. I don't usually use them now due to their low shield penetrability.

With these cruisers, I usually pair them up with Fighters. Only two types of fighters exist, really. The Missile fighter and the Laser fighter. The former is to kill destroyers. The latter is to kill other fighters and, in large enough numbers, overwhelm Cruisers as well. Ignore armour on these. Chances are if they get hit, they're dead. Speed is key.

Other interesting facts:
You can actually armour a ship up till 60+ armour, rendering them immune to nigh every weapon in the game and breaking it completely. That means filling EVERY slot with armour though. Another game-breaking move is just not using any engines. Instead use your ships as stationary weapon platforms instead. Watch them pound the enemies to bits, since you'll be loaded up with shields and armour that cannot be taken down.

EM Missiles (disabling ship weapons for anything up to 5 seconds) are incredibly useful, but I usually just stick em to my destroyers. Tag these destroyers to your Anvil cruisers and watch them survive longer. On the same note, you might want anti-fighters destroyer to tag along as well, though Fighters do the anti-fighter roles better.

On the same note, I also have an Anvil type destroyer as well, armed with Ion Cannons. Fragile, but puts out incredible DPS.

EDIT: Oh, and Guidance Scrambler Beams? Get 'em as soon as you can afford them. They do an incredible job shooting down missiles. Better than any PD in this game.

Another really interesting design is the all plasma variant. It's especially good if you have the Tribe DLC.

Personally, I prefer to have a mixed-bag jack-of-all-trades main cruiser. I'll put two multiple warhead launchers, plus some cruiser lasers and usually one quantum blaster for faster moving ships. This strategy hasn't failed me yet, except for mass fighter swarms, so I just put together an anti-fighter frigate to support the main cruiser group.

Well, most GPU published power requirements are much higher than real world scenarios. Let's take an entry level card (GT 240) for example. It uses some 40-60W off the PSU. Most OEM desktops are around 300-400W PSUs, so the C2Q takes another 135W or so. You're still well in the safe range for a pretty good bump in GPU capacity. I'm pretty sure most DX11 capable cards in the "suitable for gaming" range would be able to saturate PCIe 1.0.

I'm reasonably sure this isn't true, at least if you're counting the 240 and it's ATI comparables as "suitable for gaming", but as I can't remember how the hell you figure out how much bandwidth you actually need between system and card (as opposed to the card and its own memory, which uses dramatically higher rates) I'm gonna have to just say I disagree.

Ah, but any form of specialised cruisers will definitely cut you down to pieces. (If you play online match-ups against other players at least.)

They're perfectly fine for campaigns though, since the AI tends to mix'n'match as well. Although I would scrap the Quantum Blasters. I only use them to round out my Anvil cruisers because my power requirement are way over the charts. They're quite useless for Fighters, which is the only fast moving ship you should be concerned about. Destroyers? What destroyers? :smalltongue:

(In all honesty, destroyers are simultaneously both too big and too small to fit any role in particular. Too big because they can't dodge weaponfire like fighters. Too small to mount any substantial amount of weapons that can actually damage cruisers, which should be your priority. They're great for support roles: anti-fighter and EM ships, and adding that tiny bit of DPS where possible.)

@Kris Strife, don't think you added me (http://steamcommunity.com/id/amozy) yet. Or if you did, I don't recognise you from my steam friend list offhand.

EDIT: Plasma variants are interesting, because they can damage armour through shields. This can make Plasma Cruisers + Fighters a devastating combo since the plasma cannons will help to make the chinks in the cruiser's armour in order for the fighters to wear it down.

The 240 is certainly suitable for gaming, though I was thinking somewhat higher than that (hence, the DX11 comment). You probably wouldn't saturate it with a 240, but then again, the 240 is a two year old card now? Three? Not to mention entry-level HTPC card.

Pentium Ds and Core 2 Duos aren't actually all that far off the mark from each other. They're within a generation of each other, so really 200 MHz, doesn't make too much of a difference (don't fall into the marketing gimmick trap!). What Drager really needs is more cores more cores more cores.

Ah, but any form of specialised cruisers will definitely cut you down to pieces. (If you play online match-ups against other players at least.)

It depends on the challenge I think. I had to construct certain specialized cruisers against the niche challenges (e.g. fighter mass, or all plasma), but for the most part, I've beaten just about everything I've tried (mostly in the 4-5 star range).

I'm sorry, that's utterly incorrect. I have personal experience of having upgraded from a 2.8GHz P4 to a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo, and everything I ran on the Core 2 was considerably faster than the P4, despite the massive reduction in clock speed.

Oh, and I wouldn't even say they're within a generation of each other--the P4 first came out in 2000, while the Core 2 Duo debuted in 2006. Six years is an awful lot of development time, and the Core 2 microarchitecture bears very little relation to that of the P4.

Erm. This is Intel. 'A generation' here involves scrapping the Pentium architecture completely and building a new one. The Core chips are massively more efficient than the older Pentiums; a slower-clocked Core 2 would smoke the Pentium D, and one running equal or faster just leaves the Netburst-Pentiums crying in the corner. The Pentium D's clock rates were the 'marketing gimmick'; Core 2 is the real thing.

Although technically the Core architecture was based on the Pentium M architecture which was, in turn, based on the Pentium 4 architecture but with a lot of modifications. My old Pentium M laptop was amazing. 1.6GHz Pentium M completely smoked the Pentium 4 2.4GHz in my desktop that I had. The mainstream Pentium architecture was hilariously bad by the end.

It's amazing how much architecture affects the performance of a processor. The exponential march of technology continues!

Right, but we're discussing Pentium Ds here, not the original P4s (correct me if I'm wrong here). So, we're looking at 2005-2008, whereas Core 2s started appearing in 2006-ish. You would logically see a massive performance boost going from a P4 to a C2D. You just doubled the cores.

The Pentium D I have performs roughly the same as my Core 2 Duo (though I do admit, it's a 2.8 GHz Pentium D vs. a 2.4 GHz C2D). A slower clocked Core 2 Duo wouldn't smoke a Pentium D. It would outperform it certainly, but you're still not looking at anything special. I've got Core 2 Quads that are running just as well as the first-generation i5 chips, so...

Drager isn't going to notice any significant improvements going from his Pentium D to a Core 2 Duo. His primary bottleneck is still GPU.

factotum
2011-10-26, 04:52 PM
Although technically the Core architecture was based on the Pentium M architecture which was, in turn, based on the Pentium 4 architecture but with a lot of modifications.

Pretty sure Pentium M was actually modified from the old Pentium 3 because Intel quickly realised that P4 architecture was just way too hot and electricity-hungry to make a good mobile part, and when it turned out that they couldn't get P4 to the sort of clock speeds that would make it work properly, they decided to go with the more efficient design for their next gen chips.

Neftren, I saw the massive improvement I'm talking about even on programs that I know to be single-threaded and which would thus gain no benefit from the additional core--for example, I saw a significant frame rate increase in X3: Reunion, which is single-threaded, despite the only change to the system being the motherboard and CPU. It's not like I'm the only one who saw this, either:

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2006/benchmarks,1.html

That has Core 2 Duos and Pentium Ds duking it out in various benchmarks. Just picking the first one from the list, 3DStudio Max, a Pentium Extreme Edition 965 (dual-core P4D clocked at 3.7GHz) took 120 seconds to render a frame of animation, whereas a Core 2 Duo E6600 clocked at 2.4GHz rendered the same frame in 98 seconds. So, in that particular benchmark, the Core 2 Duo is around 90% faster than the P4D clock-for-clock. That is, admittedly, one of the most extreme examples, but I've been checking through the other benchmarks and I haven't found one yet where the P4D is actually faster than the Core 2, despite the massive discrepancy in clock speeds!

Your other point--that the GPU is likely a bottleneck in Dragero's system--is quite probably true, but that doesn't mean that a CPU upgrade is completely pointless, especially since a GPU upgrade is also possible.

Also, Dragero, don't buy HD2600. It's a trap. For 5$ more, you can have 4600, or even 5550, cards that are far more powerful and actually take less power. Also, Dragero, don't buy HD2600. It's a trap. For 5$ more, you can have 4600, or even 5550, cards that are far more powerful and actually take less power. I know because I looked hard to replace my antique x800. If you want, I can check which ATI cards don't take external power from power source, and feed entirely off the slot, I'd bet on these if you really want to upgrade.

Hmmm, wouldn't the the limited bandwidth from putting a PCIe 2.0 card in a PCIe 1.1 slot slow the card down by a large amount? Would it be better to grab the 4600/5550 compared to the 2600 even with the crippled width?

Yeas, it would. These cards draw less energy, are quieter, cooler, have better parameters (DX 11 and the like), and most importantly, they support new DXVA (to put it plainly, you can now watch most HD movies with 2-5% load on your processor). You won't run into shader wall so quickly, IMHO.

I was just coming to that conclusion based on the wikipedia/product pages, thanks for the quick reply.

I never really looked at the PCIe 2 cards due to my board only having 1.1 slots in it, thanks for pointing out the other cards, they'd make a much larger difference compared to the 2600 (And for the same/very similar price to boot)

Probably not by as much as you'd think. I've seen experiments where they block off a certain number of the data lanes available on PCI-Express slot to deliberately degrade the performance, and I don't think the difference became more than marginal until they'd chopped it down to less than 4 lanes (from the original 16). If reducing it to a quarter of the bandwidth doesn't make a big difference, I don't think the difference between PCI-e 1.1 and 2.0 is going to either!

Though, I'd watch out for cards with half reduced internal bandwidth (usually 64 bit vs 128 bit or 128 vs 256). They're usually only a few dollars cheaper, but 30-40% slower. That is really one thing Dragero might be wary of while looking for new card...

I'm having an issue with the steam client. It works fine in small mode, but when I try to put it into large mode, it displays the UI, but the content (say the store page for example) is only in a tiny window in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Backscratcher: OP degroot keep weapon or most OP?

I have issues with the entire premise of this question. See, to me, describing a weapon as OP implies that the game mode is roughly balanced at a certain level of power from which the weapon in question seriously deviates, which just isn't the case. Medieval Mode is not balanced at all between the classes.
Also, Demoknight is the king of melee.

I'd quite like to see some more options for the lesser medieval classes. Like the Engineer should be able to build trebuchets or something.

Medieval mode is pretty neat. I intended to use it to get Demoman's decapitation-related achievments, but it's fun for other classes as well.
On another, random note - how does your ratio of time spent playing classes look like? My most played class is the Demoman, two hours more than any other class, then Engineer and Sniper - about the same - Soldier, Pyro, Medic and Heavy. I've hardly played as Scout and Spy. I'm wondering if my ratio of time spent on classes is more or less balanced than average.

Mine is hugely skewed towards Scout, followed by Soldier and Medic (roughly equal). Demoman comes next, followed by Heavy. Pyro, Engi and Sniper follow, with Spy far in the back. The first three are leaps and bounds ahead, and the following two are a long ways ahead of the last ones.

I'll recommend Amnesia simply because I enjoyed it. I'm someone who normally doesn't like "scary" movies and games (mostly because i find that they prefer to startle you with lots of gore rather than be actually scary), but this game does horror well. Its fairly simplistic game-play wise with only a couple basic puzzles and ways to deal with monsters (hint: you run), its plot isn't anything ground breaking, and you will finish the game in well under 10 hours. But if you want to play a game that can legitimately scare the crap out of you, its $5 well spent.

I'm sure my sudden phobia of knee-high water had nothing to do with the game.

To be honest I never heard of this game until the third came out a few months ago.
Yes no?

I'll second amnesia, though I haven't played it much. Bioshock can be fun for a SHORT while. About 2 hours in I started wonder when the game will be over, never a good sign. It gets repetitive and has a problem with power creep. (the big baddies(brothers) and the little baddies stay the same power the whole game, but you don't, so the most challenging encounters are the first)But if you like trying decide between killing badies with fire, with ice, with bees, with several different weapons, with a wrench or with limitless flying sentries, go ahead. Rest assured they won't be killing you for long, with instasaves and instant regeneration in the stop you died in case you didn't save.

*Dominate 4 players at once, two of them were on the top of the other team's scoreboard
*Push the cart to the final point and not get caught in the explosion.
*Stall the cart with a knifespree that killed 2 heavys, and a medic.
(Dis)honorable mention: I sapped a teleporter, BLU engie whacked it off from the entrance, he teleports in, then I backstab him and get telefragged by a BLU Sniper.

But I like Deus Ex not just for the game, but for the details I wouldn't be able to see at a 1024x680 resolution!

Besides, Assassin's Creed? Not moddable, and has the "no-offline-play" DRM anyways. So why not?

On another note, I'm in the Blacklight: Retribution beta. I loved the game on XBLA, now I get to love it for free.

$1 Full game sale?

I've heard some good things about that one, but the title is certainly lacking in seriousness. Fortunately, "The Awakened" wasn't called "versus Cthulhu"

Steam rant spoilered:

So, after very hard day today, I tried to buy myself something as a bonus - and after discussing it, I settled on L4D 2, to have one more multiplayer game. Sadly, what displayed in my Steam client when browsing offers:

-66%
13,99€
4,75€
ADD TO CART

Looked a little bit different when it come to actually buying:

Buy Left 4 Dead 2
SPECIAL PROMOTION! Offer ends in 47:38:17
-66%
19,99€
6,79€

Apparently, it's Western European price, despite me connecting only from country mentioned in my settings (Eastern Europe) because that's where I paid money into my vallet, once, a fair bit of time ago :smallsigh:

<sigh> So, after trying to fight the system a bit (I lacked .50 Euro to match the higher price and had no way to pay otherwise) I decided to grab Amnesia instead, though I'm still bitter about not being able to pay for the first one :smallannoyed:

Or maybe I did something horribly wrong and the differing prices are actually my fault somehow. Ideas?

I'm sure you can contact a representative for a merger, but the trading games is out of the question, unless it's a dupe, or a copy like the Modern Warfare copy free with Modern Warfare 3.

If you haven't redeemed (or maybe even haven't yet installed?) the games in question, you can go Games -> Manage Gifts and Guest Passes. There'll be a list of games that you can gift around.

If you have redeemed/installed them, you're probably out of luck. If you can prove ownership of both accounts, you might be able to convince Steam Support to merge the two accounts for you, but no guarantees.

That's a sketchy gray area. I am fairly sure that it states in the ToS or some of the legal documents somewhere that you're not supposed to have more than one account per person.

In any case:
"You may not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account."
I am fairly sure that transferring your account to yourself or to another account is against the ToS.

The full situation was that I used my brother's Steam account when they put up Civ 4 + expansions + Colonization for some absurdly low price. Now I have my own account and want them on mine since he never plays them.

Guess it isn't in the cards

I'll take a Voxatron Bundle if someone is giving them out. Looks pretty awesome actually (is this a top-down Minecraft basically or?).

Sent out five bundles so far, totaling approximately 10USD. You're very welcome.

On an unrelated note, I kind of want Dead Space 2... Still trading for it...

EDIT: Voxatron is a top down shooter utilizing a graphical style similar to both Minecraft and 3D Dot Game Hero, in which you wander aimlessly, shooting things until they, or you, die. At least I think. I haven't played enough to determine if there are any princesses to save, tyrannical brothers to overthrow, or massive putrid demons to destroy. Though I'm sure there are plenty of the latter.

Also, it starts easy, and it gets really hard. Really fast. We're talking Nintendo Hard Bullet Hell.

Bought it. Thanks for the heads-up on the new bundle, Trisc. Seem to be getting smaller and more common all the time.

Y'know, I would have bought you a bundle with a $30 donation written all over it, as thanks. But NOOOOOOO you HAD to buy it for yourself! /sarcasm

Oh well, enjoy it. Swell game.

To anyone who is questioning why they recieved a code, redeem it. I gave it to you as a gift.

I think Erik Wolpaw has something to do with this.

Alright, Humble Voxatron Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/)...

Who wants one? I'm gonna buy one for as many people as I can afford. Just ask, I'll buy. If I can. I'm not a cheap jerk, I'm making a sizeable donation ($1.50 minimum), so if my assumptions are correct, buying for you guys will make a large donation to make sure the charities are supported well.

The game is a mere 1MB, and is supported on Windows, MacOS, and Linux. You're welcome.

If you're still giving them out, I would love one.

When you can, if you wouldn't mind, mind if I request one too? Only if it isn't too much trouble though.

Can someone make a gift farming server?

I looked into it. I can get a server to run, but I can't get steam to run more than two accounts on my computer at once so I gave up. If people want I could throw the server back up, and seven people just idle in it while one person collects gifts. If this is wanted, I'll set it up when I get home.

In re Server for farming of gifts: I did this last year and am willing to do it again if there is enough demand. I downloaded a TF2 server and configured it. It's still installed, so it would be no hassle to get it going again. If enough people want a gift-farming server, I pay for quite a lot of bandwidth, so I can set up 24/7 koth_viaduct_event on my computer. Last year I ran a ... 18? 20? slot server, I think. I can set it to whatever player count is desired. The only trick would be remembering to not shutdown/hibernate my computer when I'm not using it. :smalltongue:
I might have to demand the occasional gift sacrifice to feed the hungry beast though... </joke!>

I too think it is a wonderful idea and can offer being an idler as well as a gift seeker. Just let me know where and when.
I'm really curious in finding a gift, I fear my custom HUD makes them invisible, since I've never seen 1.

And my ax... Um, Sniper Rifle? ^^"

I too, can offer idling when my laptop is online, though I'd like to have a few of them, too :smalltongue:

One request, though, can the access be secured somehow? I just... had a poor experience with random jerks from nowhere over past 2 days on CHHA :/

GodDAMMIT. Bastion just HAD to go into sale right after I spent basically every bit of spare cash I had at that anime con. It couldn't wait a couple weeks, nooo. Arghabrlagle :smallfurious:.

You have three days to pull together $7.50 (or $12.50 if, like me, you got the soundtrack too) Otherwise I'm sure it'll come round for sale again, probably around Christmas

EDIT: Bastion, and now Evil Genius for $2.50. Man, I'm snapping up games like popcorn this week. Can't stop at just one!

Personally, I'd be happy with just Voxatron if Trisc is still gifting bundles, no need of going above the average. I'd get it myself, but as mentioned, my card is kind of in the red and I'd rather not put more charges to it for a bit...
