So, for the people who got in, discuss all of your ideas and such for Castle Chillingsworth. Once you have all finalized its layout and design I will start the actual campaign and OOC threads. Note: This is for players of The Age of Slaughter only. Please refrain from commenting if you are not one of them.

Castle Chillingsworth is located about 100 miles north of the town of Valdistock. It is on the northern edge of the Boraihn mountains, near the ocean. It is just warm enough to be considered temperate-warm most of the year, but winters can be brutal. While the Boraihn Mountains are famed for the creatures living within its depths, no know tunnels to its Underdark are nearbye. Otherwise there aren't many monsters near it, as the Frost Giant Clans of the Boraihns usually keep to the southern portion of it.

Since I would get a lot out of SnowMans itemmaking I would like to chip in for his forge if necessary. Just to get better stuff from him (maybe selfish, but true).

For my room I reserved 10k, used on a sober room. The only thing I would like is a simple symbol on the wall (eventual a drape) with the sign of his order on it (which I still need to find out about).

Jheska

I'm assuming the Avery is for Elena, thank you very much for working that out for me. I'll knock the 34,851gp 7sp 5cp off my character sheet then start eyeing things up for the remaining gold unless anyone has any better ideas for using it.

Not sure I need a magical lab what with not being a caster but I assume the scrying pool is useful.

-Edit:
Eep, ended up with a shed-ton of immunity from my gear. Death ward, freedom of movement, a couple miss chances, flight, blindsight, temporary undead immunities or true seeing, small AoE confusion stun and fear immunity.

Throw that in with flyby and I'm darn hard to kill.

OK, I'm trying to work out the costs for Engyn's forge, but I'm having trouble. Here's a list of how I'd like it built, and perhaps I can get help with it

Engyn's Forge
Smith, Fancy+Forge of the Armorsmith*+Forge of the Weaponsmith*+Coldfire Engine*+2 Adamantine Doors+2 Adamantine Locks(Amazing)+Hewn Stone Walls**+Magmafall" (Note: Don't want windows here. Maybe get a permanent light spell, or use the light from the Magmafall)

Armory, Fancy+Hewn Stone Walls**+Adamantine Door+Adamantine Lock(Amazing)+Chamber of the Unliving

{Bath, Basic + Bedroom suit, basic (smith) + 2 Simple Wooden doors + Hewn stone walls} x5. At least one of the personal smiths should be dwarven.

Bath, Basic + Bedroom suit, basic (engineer) + 2 Simple Wooden doors + Hewn stone walls. (This guy should be a gnome.)

Bath, Basic + Bedroom suit, basic (clerk) + 2 Simple Wooden doors + Hewn stone walls

*What book(s) are these from?
**Since this part of the castle is technically underground, does that give us free Hewn Stone Walls?
"Like a waterfall, but with magma

I'm afb, but I beleive that it is not free, just at a good discount (since labor still costs money).

O.K., I've almost entirely finished my character except for deciding on what rooms I'm going to have swallowed. I know I plan on having a few blank rooms that I can fill in with my Machine supports, forges, and various other features. Sheet here. (http://www.coyotecode.net/profiler/view.php?id=12079)

Added the Arcanist forge I made before.
Tell me if you want anything changed.

My computer crashed yesterday, only reason this wasn't already up. lol.

EDIT:
The Magical Forges are from Races of Stone. I just paid more to remove the Dwarf only requirement. But you could get them at their standard prices and have a Dwarf weaponsmith and Armorsmith on standby.

The Coldfire engine is for powering vehicles in Frostburn.
But again I modified it's purposed based from a description of some of the fluff in the Frostburn book. :)
Still produces coldfire. But magical coldfire can be used to make special weapons from certain substances.

If you want it in the basement your walls still are not free, but they are damned cheap.
Unless you want it to be just a converted cave. lol.

I present to you, The Composer (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=340224). Ancient warforged planeswalker, and artificer extraordinaire. To all you weapon users, I'd suggest you lower your weapon enhancements to +1 and whatever special abilities you wish. Both Duskranger and I can cast Greater Magic Weapon, which means you'll have +3 to +4 magical weapons without money expenditure.

Just asking, because im not sure which it is: Is the town portion underground, or is it in some valleyish or platau in the mountain range and you can only reach it by land from the castle? Also, where are the mines relative to the town and castle?

Arcane_Snowman
2011-10-26, 06:59 PM
Also, save the money, Composer won't take a room, choosing instead to wander the hallways. It doesn't sleep anyway, and everything it has, it's already carrying with it.

GFawkes

Same goes for Engyn. No need for sleep, and all gear can be stored either with him or in his armory.

Hey, reading the manual I'm getting mixed signals, exactly how big is a "stronghold space"? I'm looking at wondrous architecture, and trying to figure out how big the rooms should be. My current idea is having at least one "comestibles room" that will have:

1 endless basin
1 Table of Feasting (depending on money, may replace with table of safe meals)
1 Pantry of preservation
1 Everful larder

And a medical place that will have:
1 unseen servant (to assist in healing)
1 restorative bed/platform of some type
1 Summoning stone
Some inscriptions of some sort (since this is where I get my 2 hours sleep)

A "war room"
Blade Barrier covering outside (I circumvent this by opening portal directly inside it)
1 or 2 varieties of magic map
Some privacy inscriptions (since this is where I will keep anything of note)

And Ideally, these would have some version of the permanent "hut" spells so I can vomit out whole, specialized rooms. If I need more, I open a mouth with a second stomach in it.

"stronghold space"? 20 ft. x 20 ft. x 10 ft.. Page 8, first paragraph.

Question: how does Cho qualify for Machine, it requires the Construct type?
Probably also should say Menacing Manor 2, but that's just a nitpick.

I must admit, it's a pretty interesting idea you've got going, I haven't finished reading up Owrtho's work yet, but it looks like it'll be a fun read .

Actually, that only applies to Non-warforged constructs. And in either case, a warforged can always repair itself, no matter what class or feats it has.

I could cast greater magic weapon but it's not on my spell list. Will put it on though, since I am missing more spells that I would like to have.

On the other hand Snowman can you craft items for me? If possible I will give you 5000 xp for it (if the DM agrees) and offcourse a large chunk of money, it would bring some items that I would like to get into range.

And I was planning on getting a wand of at least magic fang could you cast it when the need is there and I need to change in a hydra?

Built INTO the mountain. So mostly underground, though only just.
Only official way in is via the castle.

Though there are caves and tunnels and secret passages maybe, that may lead out another way. lol.

Edit: Moved the Forge into the basement, made all of the assistants Warforged. Removed all of the bedrooms and windows. Removed the Residence I had for the Artificer and Warforged.

OK, here's the (almost) final list of things for Engyn's forge. I might think up something else, depending on how much money is left.

Smith, Fancy+Forge of the Armorsmith and Sustenance (Full Dwarven)+Coldfire Engine+2 Adamantine Doors+2 Adamantine Locks(Amazing)+Hewn Stone Walls+Magmafall (Permanent Image cast by a level 11 illusionist. Costs 760 gp)

Armory, Fancy+Hewn Stone Walls+Adamantine Door+Adamantine Lock(Amazing)+Chamber of the Unliving

{Bath, Basic + Bedroom suit, basic (smith) + 2 Simple Wooden doors + Hewn stone walls} x5. All of the personal smiths should be dwarven.

Bath, Basic + Bedroom suit, basic (engineer) + 2 Simple Wooden doors + Hewn stone walls. (This guy should be a gnome.)

Gaiyamato
2011-10-27, 12:15 AM
I moved it into the basement. Only going to be 1 way down there. A single Adamantine Door with Amazing locks or even better Improved Arcane Lock would do the job.

Or I could make the doorway down a secret door behind the Smithy on the ground level. Place some arcane stuff on it so it cannot be used except by you guys.

The other option is NO doorway down but we put a portal somewhere more secure in the Palace. Like my office next to the Throne itself.

That is a lot of extra expenditure.
I already have a town that provides the castle with endless food supplies.

I can make you an infirmary kind of place and your own residence all connected, probably on the ground floor.

I also have a war-room of sorts with the conjoined office spaces next to the throne. Heck I can seal off the Throne room and use that anyway. lol

List of items I would like to have crafted:

Starmantle Cloak - 66000k
Hanks Splitting Energy Bow - 32300gp
Wand of Greater Magic Fang CL 20 (if Possible) (Don't know)
+1 large Wounding Undead Bane SpellStoring GreatSword - 25200
Ring of Blinking 13500
Wand of Greater Invisiblity CL 15 (or higher) (Don't know the calculation for this)
+1 Soulfire Mithral Chain Shirt 13050

All prices are with gp.

Total costs: 150050 + the two wands.

Did most of the Lord Marshal. Well worth his 500gp per month.
His sheet is up. Doing his followers and Maneuvers now.
Then I'll move onto the other NPCs as they are much simpler.

Once again, I will mention that this is once we get in game. Seeing as I only have my 15th level Craft pool, I can't do it now.

But we have 7500 xp left if I'm right (he said we would be at half what we need for lvl 16 or am I wrong and thinking about another game.

Because if XP is the problem I would like to give you my XP as crafting reserve (is there a way to use another persons XP to craft with??).

Wait I also need a Permanent Shield cast on myself (by myself) and a Permanent Greater Luminous Armor but will buy those as scrolls.

You are correct, but given that not every DM does exp as per CR, but instead as a set amount, crafting can really set you back. I haven't really been asking about it, but I have a habit of just leaving the exp expenditure unless it's absolutely necessary.

question 1 for the DM: Can shield and greater luminous armor be permancied (for extra info it would give me +9 and +13 AC and -4 to creatures in Melee)

Question 2 for the DM: Can I give my left over XP to Arcane_Snowman for crafting?

Question 1 to Arcane_Snowman: If I could give you XP could/would you craft for me with it?

20 ft. x 20 ft.

Thanks to an aberrant feat called Aberrant Monstrosity (Construct), which allows me to count as a construct for purposes of qualifying for PRcs and feats, while also allowing monstrous feats to contribute to my form point pool and aberrant feat poteny.

question 1 for the DM: Can shield and greater luminous armor be permancied (for extra info it would give me +9 and +13 AC and -4 to creatures in Melee) Yes, you can. Im going to say 100xp to do so on shield, and for gla for each minimum CL it is above 9th, add 500xp to the base price (so CL9 would be 500, Cl 10 1,000, CL 11 1,500

Question 2 for the DM: Can I give my left over XP to Arcane_Snowman for crafting?
No, xp is not like money, it can only be gained and spent by a single person. You can't gain, spend or take someone elses xp.

D'oh, this is what i get for character building before I'm completely awake. Switched around Aberrant Monstrosity and Scavenging Gullet. And as far as legality goes, it seems pretty explicit. "Furthermore, you may select a creature type. You may choose to count as that type or your actual type for the purpose of qualifying for (Monstrous) feats or PRCs." I selected a type (construct), so i can count as either my original type (humanoid w/aquatic subtype), or construct for taking feats or PRCs. In this case, I am choosing to count as a consruct to take Machine.

Not what I was referring to, you've got the feats all wrong, we're supposed to get one every 2 levels after 1, so 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 you get bonus feats. My question of legality, because I couldn't find Aberrant Monstrosity so I assumed you'd have to take it around level 6, was that you wouldn't be able to take it the same level you took the prestige class. If you can take it a 3 then there is no issue.

Well that's amusing, I have no idea if the GM intended this and if so kudos, but with our current feat system at the level we're at we have exactly as many feats as a character who took two flaws. In a full twenty level career this only pulls into profit at 19th level where you have one additional feat. I find this a brilliant thing.

I didn't notice that either actually. That houserule came from a horrible mistake I once did. When I first started D&D I had just finished reading the PHB and was trying to make my character sheet before the rest of the group showed. I didn't want to turn the page from the class I was making (tiefling ranger I think?) so I tried to remember off the top of my head how many feats I get. "Gah, what was it? Ok, so I get one at 1st and one at 3rd, and im pretty sure the gain is constant, so.... one every two levels!" I didn't find out I was wrong about that for a year. When I did (after some embaressment) I decided that I liked my version better because more stuff is good stuff, right? So ive made it a house rule in my campaigns since. But your explanation is good to

Just more evidence i should wait till 2 pm to make characters, not 2 am. Readjusted when I gain my feats, added 2 more from the ozodrin thread, Conservative form and Decentralized Body.

Actually, I only need one basic storage. The true room I sleep in will be an unstaffed torture room made of bone with a bed and a summoning stone (Would it be O.K. if it cast summon undead instead of summon monster?). This is where I sleep (the torture devices bring back memories of her childhood, helping her get her two hours of sleep). The summoning stone is their to provide the "guard" necessary for a torture chamber to work.Maybe another room with a few miscellaneous wondrous architecture in it (thinking of the pew that allows me to Speak with Dead, the cabinet that is a constant Gentle Repose, maybe some others). All of this with some kind of inscription, to keep out pervy scryers.

I can't fly, and choose not to swim (No need for oxygen).

A couple other things:
1. I'd prefer it if Engyn's armory was considered his personal space.
2. An idea I had was that Engyn considers biological beings (squishy ones, at least) to be inferior to mechanical ones. This may lead to insulting the non-warforged members of the group. Is everyone OK with this?
