Making Familiars and Psicrystals survive

Ok, so I've signed up for a PbP epic trisalt and have both a familiar and a psicrystal. My build is wizard(transmuter)25//Pision(egoist)25//Monk2/Hexblade3/Warblade20

So, how can I make my 25 level familiar and 25 level psicrystal more survivable? I'm considering taking the draconic familiar feat to get a gold wyrmling for my familiar and then see if I can customize it, but I'm not sure what to do with the psicrystal.

You have a ton of options at that level. Off the top of my head:

- Share Vigor, Share Pain and even Metamorphosis with both of them
- Use the Familiar Pocket spell
- Have them cast/manifest something protect-y with Familiar Spell and Psicrystal Power

Note that with Psicrystal Power, your psicrystal gains a manifester level, meaning it can get a psicrystal too.

If you have a feat to spare, improved familiar at any level higher than 9 can give you a hippogriff familiar. Remember that familiars have your saving throws, your BAB and half your HP, so it should be nearly as durable as you are. Also, remember to share spells: The persistent wraithstrike you cast on yourself each morning works on your familiar, too. So does the shapechange you cast on yourself once in a while.

If you put ranks in ride and ride your familiar (only if you take improved familiar.) then you get access to all sorts of goodies, like negating an attack on your mount.

I was thinking of taking dragon familiar and getting a gold dragon wyrmling as my familiar. I also can't spare the skill ranks to put into ride.
