composite longbow

I'm buying a composite longbow with a rating of +4 strength bonus to use when I am divine power'd. If my divine power ends or is dispelled, my strength bonus decreases to +1. I know that I will then proceed to take a -2 penalty to attacks, but what happens to the damage? Will the damage bonus still be +4 as that's the stress on the string, or will it be only +1?

You cannot add a strength bonus that you do not have to the damage.
