I'm going to carve a pumpkin in a couple of hours. I want it to be something that will frighten small children. Any ideas?

Boric acid and Methanol.

Mix in a clean metal/glass container and insert into your Jack-O-Lantern.

Enjoy green fire.

A video displaying this green fire can be found Here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRNLqTfIjQo&feature=related)

Edit/Disclaimer: I'm not sure how safe this is. Be sure to be careful and I'm not responsible for any issues. But hey, the first place I heard this was when I read my aunts books on Neo-paganism and they seemed to think it was safe to use in your house... Always err on the safe side with fire. And so on.

its completely safe in an outdoor setting. i would recommend using a small alcohol burner as opposed to a burning dish for obvious reasons, however.

(they can be bought online for ~$10 or made from a glass jar and a bit of rope with relative ease)
