Is anyone else redirected to the following page (http://brilliantgameologists.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi) when attempting to access BG?

It sends me to that page, yeah.

Not just you, I hope it's only temporary

Does not work 100% of the time, but this (http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/) is a handy site to answer that question for you fairly reliably.

Actually, the reason I started this thread was that the site was giving me a negative, saying it was still up, but the nature of the error looked like something that couldn't just be a local problem. It's giving a positive now, though. Weird. :smallconfused:

Okay, NOW what the hell's up with it? It redirects me to some site with the same domain name that I've never seen before, and there's a section labeled 'boards' but I can't access it without a password, which is new.

Edit: And now it can't connect at all. What the flying frakk?

Looks like someone got Domain Squatted really fast maybe?

I bet it is being squatted. As soon as it comes up change your password, hope you didn't tie any private information to the account...

Oh, I don't have an account, I'm just trying to access the forums so I can... y'know, see stuff.

Isn't there someone whose job it is to prevent this kind of thing?

I hope this problem will be over soon. BG is a forum I like a whole lot. Much more than these forums, for example.

I think the other guys merged the BG boards into their website. The same thing pops up asking for username and password when you click a valid BG link leading to the handbooks (I googled it).

Yeah, it did that for me. What happens when you enter a valid username and password?

Spreading subversive propaganda, citizen? That is treasonous activity - please report to the nearest Termination Booth immediately.:smallcool:

So, now it seems to be switching back and forth between that other site and an error message or something. Can anyone shed some light on what might be happening?

Mato

I don't know, I'm not a member.Nothing. It just re-asks.

*shrugs* I've got five emails and don't use any of them since I favor social networks. Each site or forum I visit has a unique password and name in many cases the name as well (ever heard of Mato over there?).

Still, I recommend changing you password even you didn't. In all likelihood you're forum passwords are close to your email passwords, unless your using some form of cryptography (leetseak doesn't count) there is a chance of brute forcing.

Thank goodness gitp isn't likely to get Squated.

According to the BG website right now:

Boards are down

October 31, 2011
By: Josh
Category: News

Sometime this morning the normally high volume of spam attacks on our boards increased so the hosting company shut down the website. We got it turned back on, but the boards are still down.
We working to solve the problem right now.

That one is a link to an error message.

This link works just fine: http://brilliantgameologists.com/

It's because the upper link is to the boards, and just like the main site says the message boards are still down and that's the section of the site that people were talking about to begin with.

And the details are on the main site (http://brilliantgameologists.com/breaking-news/#comments).

Actually, strictly speaking, Lateral asked if the 'suspendedpage.cgi' page he linked to was what other people got when trying to access BG; he didn't imply his link was the normal forum link.
Is anyone else redirected to the following page (http://brilliantgameologists.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi) when attempting to access BG? Sorry, I had to get it out of my system:smallwink:

I hope none of the board data got lost. Spam attacks don't normally cause data loss, do they? The post mentioned they get spam attacks all the time...I'm clueless about these things

I really hope that they get this wonderful resource back online. I was thinking about running a module or two but BG Minmax is my main resource. :(
