Doppelganger Character Creation Help

How do I create a Gestalt Doppelganger Rogue/Sorcerer? It's really confusing...

How is your DM handling level adjustment and racial hit dice in gestalt? There are a lot of different ways to do it.

How racial hit dice and level adjustment are accounted for in gestalt is something the rules don't detail; gestalt as written is a set of guidelines more than a refined system. You should probably check with your DM how he or she wants to resolve that.

Sorcerer gets Alter Self, so there's absolutely no reason to suffer through the Doppleganger's +4 LA and 4 HD of Monstrous Humanoid unless you're going to be taking Mindspy or similar. Use Changeling from MM3, you'll be much better off.

If you can do the LA and HD on one side, that is a plus.

Chameleon is a good choice for a Doppelganger (flavor and crunch wise). I think it requires a feat though iirc.

Warshaper is a must!

Edit: Their high WIS and CHA would make them decent Favored Souls as well.

You have to choose one side of your gestalt to put the doppleganger LA and RHD on, so if you start off at level 9 you can be either: LA4/RHD4/Rogue 1//Sorcerer9 or sorcerer 1 and rogue 9 instead.

Haven't heard from the OP about the starting level.

Assuming ECL 9...And LA goes first. And you can use the racial skills during the LA period.

Doppelganger LA 1/Rogue 1
Doppelganger LA 3/Sorcerer 3
Doppelganger HD 1/Sorcerer 1
Doppelganger HD 3/Unseen Seer 3
Warshaper 1/Sorcerer 1

...would be my build. But this is surely in Ask your DM territory. They might have LA take up both sides of Gestalt as well...

If that was the case your build would be like:

(Doppelganger LA 4)
Doppelganger HD 4/Sorcerer 4
Warshaper 1/Sorcerer 1.

Which would blow and hopefully you could buy off your LA!

This is too hard. I think I might settle for a human for now. If the Changeling doesn't have to do those ECL-type-things, then show me a PDF of this thing so I can change shape and kick ass!
