Hiya Folks,

Lately I have been obsessing over warriors that venerate death/undeath. I think it rather spiffy a warrior that, over time, could obtain undead like qualities. After rummaging through a number of books I came to the conclusion that what I am looking for either a) does not exist or b) is da*n hard to find. Which is what brought me here. I am hoping that some of the fine folks which haunt these forums can point me in the right direction. I am interested in both official material as well as homebrew.

Here's the rundown ... I am looking for a warrior prestige class/base class which grants some undead related abilities/powers/whatever as you level. I was thinking something along the lines of the dread necromancer (but without the spellcasting of course :p).

Any and all comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Volf

PRC (WOTC)
Blackguard (duh:smalltongue:)
Pale Master (though i believe that casts)
Bone Knight
Horned Harbinger

Ebon Initiate i believe might suit your purposes, (think necromantic warlock, but stronger)

Most of Silva Stormrage's work

Base Classes:
Lord of the Uttercold (A Warlord of frost and undeath)
The Necrotic Infester (A debuff based full spellcaster) and New Necrotic Cyst Spells
The Soul Devourer (An Invocation using necromantic warrior)
The New Horned Harbinger
The Stygian Siphonist

Lastly the Necronomist is part of Kellus's truenaming fix; Basically its a necromancer summoner with some melee ability and some death immunities. I dont THINK thats what you were looking for, but just in case:smallbiggrin:

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head. To find Silva's stuff....well...im sure googling silva stormrage will find one of his posts, and then you can check out his sig:smallbiggrin:

You check out Frank and K's Tome of Necromancy? There's a couple along those lines.

The Death Knight (http://dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/Races_of_War_(3.5e_Sourcebook)/Warriors_with_Class#Prestige_Classes) from Frank and K's Races of War sourcebook is something you should look at. It'll also take you to a set of LA+0 undead templates.

My Ebon Initiate base class is a warrior-necro-lock type class, and it has a slew of prestige classes I've written for it.

Ebon Initiate (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163297)
Knight of the Ashen Blade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167456)
Frostwrought Scion (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167658)
Necromera (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199801)
Twixil Night Blade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208125)
Margrave of the Black Gate (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195817)

That would be a Knight of the Sepulcher (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/alternate-classes/antipaladin/archetypes/paizo---antipaladin-archetypes/knight-of-the-sepulcher) Antipaladin (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/alternate-classes/antipaladin).

Wow! Really impressed with the ideas so far .... going to be using a couple of the suggestions to round out the population of my Ashen Cabal (aka cult of death worshippers and other necro related tidbits, although they are not necesssarily evil).

I also had a stray thought for a prestige class idea ... what about a class that granted undead-like qualities (such as DR, immunity to poison/stunning/fatigue/crits/sneak attack/whatever) and also allowed the character to operate as if he had the diehard feat when reduced to negative hit points. This would be like a quasi-zombification survival mechanism that helps to keep the character alive. I wonder if this has been done before?

As usual, thanks for all the help folks!

It would need more unique stuff. That's entirely a list of passives, with no unique powers. It's an NPC/monster template. Also, if you're interested in WoW, Jarian's death knight (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186986) is quite cool, but I've never played it.

To be fair, the Bone Knight is basically a walking list of passives, with the bonus that it only screws your cleric casting by 1 level for some darn nice passives.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the prestige you are looking for is, in fact, the bone knight with the diehard added in somewhere along the lines. Its in the Eberron Book of Five Nations, in case you didn't know where it was.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the Dread Necromancer.

Ignore a large body of the spells, and you really do have some good 'black knight' options:
Your spells are touch attacks, so you can charge your sword with dark energy and beat enemies with it. Some spells can be combined with the charnel touch class feature, making for some devastating hits (Shivering touch + Charnel touch?).
You're really, surprisingly tough, despite being a 'caster'. DR, tons of temporary hp and a bottomless well of healing.
And you can magic jar one of your own undead, something far bigger and tougher than you are, to give yourself a suitable body. Consider the flavor value of getting a (just as an example) ogre body and then decking yourself out head to toe in black platemail, until your race can barely be determined. You're just one freakishly big dude with a raspy voice.

Holy shizzer! Bone Knight is a huge list of passives. Its also the class that I was looking for. Gotta make a few simple changes is all. Going to swap out the increased spellcasting for full BaB and remove the turn undead requirement.

Really appreciate the help folks!
