Hey guys, like the title implies, I have a question about rounding.

Im looking at initiator levels, and it says that for multiclassed charactres the initiater level is equal to 1/2 class levels of regular classes + class level of martial adepts. Im a level 4 marshal /3 dragon shaman / 1 crusader, is my initiater level 4? Or 5?

I remember a buddy saying in dnd you always round down, but I dont remember ever reading that. I've always thought you rounded in whichever direction was beneficial! lol

Any insight would be appreciated!

Your friend is correct - you always round down.

Whenever you would need to round something, you round down unless whatever requires rounding explicitly says otherwise.

Your initiator level is 4 and 1/2, but the half doesn't matter unless you acquire another half of an initiator level.

Just to give you the rules quote...

ROUNDING FRACTIONS

In general, if you wind up with a fraction, round down, even if the fraction is one-half or larger.

Exception: Certain rolls, such as damage and hit points, have a minimum of 1.

That same basic quote can also be found in the front of the Player's Handbook.
