The Wizard discovery, Opposition Research: Can it be taken twice to remove the penalties for having opposing schools entirely while still reaping the benefits of a specialization?

There's nothing saying you can't, but as a DM, I wouldn't allow it.

Actually, there is something saying he can't; the fact that it doesn't explicitly say he can.

Take a look at the "arcane builder (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/archetypes/paizo---wizard-archetypes/arcane-discoveries/arcane-builder)" discovery:

Special: You may select this discovery multiple times; its effects do not stack. Each time you select this discovery, it applies to a different type of magic item.

Golem Constructor (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/archetypes/paizo---wizard-archetypes/arcane-discoveries/golem-constructor):

Special: You may select this discovery multiple times. Each time you select this discovery, it applies to a different kind of golem.

Split Slot (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/archetypes/paizo---wizard-archetypes/arcane-discoveries/split-slot):

Special: You may select this discovery multiple times; each time you select it, you may split another spell slot when you prepare spells. You cannot split a slot that you created by splitting a higher-level slot.

Unless otherwise stated, you cannot take a feat (or discovery) more than once.

Grah! Yes, I meant to point that out in the original text. Given that you can only take the discovery once, then: Is it a good choice for a standard conjurer wizard? And what would be the best bet to remained barred? My first inclination is to always keep Evocation banned, but I may be wrong.
