Hi. I wonder if it would be breaking the rules of the boards to have an avatar with a character - a Paladin, Holy Liberator or Knight, to be specific - displaying the Cross of Lorraine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_of_Lorraine) on his cloths. In this case I would try to evoke Slovakia's and Hungary's flags and Joan of Arc and indirectly French resistance during WWII, rather than the religious connotations. But I understand if the latter would be an issue.

Sheriff of Moddingham: I was going to say that it's probably fine as long as you don't call out it's real world nature in any way. While you'd know your inspiration was that particular thing, it's also fairly generic.

But then you go on to say that you're trying to evoke certain things, two political and one religious. So while it's difficult to judge borderline cases in the abstract and in advance, overall, my sense would be that you're better off, Forum Rules-wise, avoiding the matter entirely.
