I'm currently a 9th level Cleric of Thor and am looking to get a better weapon. I have been using a warhammer but am wondering what's the best hammer out there in terms of damage. Thanks!

A Lucerne Hammer is 2HF 2d4 x4 (Dragon 231). It's basically just a warhammer on the end of a long stick.

3.5 or PF? Pathfinder has an enormous weapon list. Go here (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/weapons) and search for Earth breaker, for example.

GreatHorn Minotaur Greathammer. Nuff-Said. By far the best hammer possible for a Cleric of Thor, a Fighter, a Warblade, a Crusader, a Barbarian, a Wizard who can spare the feat, basically anyone who wants to spend a feat for Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Greathorn Minotaur Greathammer. It is mentioned in one of the Monster Manuals, but AFB, so I dunno for sure

Bec de Corbin looks like a really good choice here.

Almost too good, actually - reach, brace, damage types to choose, that bonus to sunder probably sucks, but it's still here.

Don't recall that well how much PF changes stuff, but together with stuff like bill, it's makes iconic greataxe wielding Barbarian not very feasible image.

This tiny bit of additional damage is simply not worth specials, with damage coming from rage etc. already.

Did they come up with anything to fix it?

Thanks for the responses. I'm playing D&D 3.5. In what books are the Great horn Minotaur Great hammer and Goliath Great hammer found?

MM IV (Minotaur greathammer) Races of Stone for goliath greathammer.

However, in the minotaur's statblock the weapon has no Crit range listed (normal for weapons that crit on a 20) whereas in the "For Player Characters" section it has a 19-20 crit range listed.

So, some DMs might insist on using the worse Crit range.

Thor isn't about using polearms, though! Anyway, Goliath Greathammer is in Races of Stone and Monster Manual IV. I think one of them has a typo, though...

If you want to be Thor, then a character with the Major Titan bloodline can wield Gargantuan warhammers at level 12 without penalty. These do 4d6 damage with a crit multiplier of 3. Then you add Greater Mighty Wallop.

Yea, but Warhammer would be 4d6 at gargantuan, and greathammer would be 6d6 at gargantuan...

The problem with that is most ways of increasing weapon size are class-specific - Expansion is the usual way of doing it, but that means Psychic Warrior pretty much exclusively. The bloodline method ties you to no specific class.

As previously mentioned, I'd say from using one personally in a campaign, Greathorn Minotaur Greathammer is simply amazing. 1d12, 19-20 x4 crit?! Also gives a +2 to sunder?! What's not to love?

Ah T.J., my Barbarian Frenzied Berserker. Oh how I miss you so.

Especially in Gold.

Of course!

In my campaign we had a home-brewed weapon ability, it was a +3 or +4 I believe, but it made the weapon be treated as 2 categories larger :D

Improved crit, Impact, 2x size increase. Oh the damage output was immense, especially with the always handy Supreme Cleave and Rage/Frenzy bonuses.

I believe they erratad the 19-20/x4 to just 20/x4 somewhere...
