In the game I'm about to start there is a crown that turns someone into the perfect being. The thing is the players will actually get to use the crown jewels so I need to figure out what they are. So far I have

The Topaz of Training
You may switch your class levels as a free action.

The Amethyst of Abilities
You may switch your stats around as a free action.

The Ruby of Races
You may switch your race as a free action. When supercharged, races and templates with level adjustment (no limit) are allowed.

The Crown of Control
If all 6 gems are placed on the crown you gain a divine rank. Also you can supercharge the gems when all gems are placed. (Ex. you can gain levels with the Topaz of Training, increase stats with the Amethyst of Abilities)

Can anyone help me figure out what to do for the other five alliterative gems that can pretty much give infinite versatility together?

I'd suppose
One for changing all your feats
One for changing all your skills
One for changing your race and/or templates
as a free action would be a start

Though this leaves one missing...

Well, going with the same theme there's switching feats, skills, and race. The first two might be included with class, but it isn't clear.

The Ruby of Races
You may switch your race as a free action. When supercharged, races and templates with level adjustment (up to some limit) are allowed.

Diamond of Perfect Body
Gain maximum hit points for your level as well as DR #/- or epic?
Supercharged -- Regeneration #

Opal of Energy independence
Resistance 30 to all energy types
Supercharged -- immunity to all energy types

Sapphire of Perfection
Gain a +3 perfection bonus to... everything
Supercharged-- gain a +7 perfection bonus to... everything.

--not really ones to add in versitility, but definitely play into the perfect being.

Thanks for the responses. I like the Ruby of Races and will add it to the OP.

One thing that I'm going to point out here is that this could lead to an unimaginable bookkeeping nightmare. You're basically creating a crown that will allow someone to completely recreate their entire character as a free action. I could see it really bogging down the game.

Maybe if you want to go with the theme of the crown making someone a perfect being, with a lot less bookkeeping, you could have it bestow the paragon template (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/paragonCreature.htm) instead?

If you're dead set on this idea though, how about:

The Sapphire of Skills. allows you to change your skills as a free action. Or maybe the Emerald of Expertise.

For feats maybe the Feldspar of Feats? Emerald of Exploits? Diamond of Deeds?

No limit? Unless the supercharged topaz and amethyst give extra levels and stats in the double or triple digits that's quite a power discrepancy. Half-Celestial Half-Fiend Half-Dragon (once per dragon type) Half-Fey Half-Troll Half-Vampire Half-Elemental Greenbound God-Blooded Dark Paragon Phrenic Pseudonatural Feral Mineral Warrior Pixie with Irresistible Dance, anyone?

Its kind of the point. But the thing is you need all of them to do that. If all goes as planned the final battle will be between the players for who gets them all.

Since you say that the players will be able to use this crown at some point, I think it would be important to focus on ease of use rather than power.

Changing all your class levels as a free action is very powerful, but practically speaking, that means the player than decides to do that will very often hold the whole game up while he figures out what he wants and how it all adds up. That's akin to making a new character as a free action, powerful, but very time consuming.

Instead, I would suggest making specific, powerful boosts that are easier to apply, for example:

* The Topaz of Training: Gain 1 Class Feature per two class levels you possess. Those features can be selected from any class. Each Class Features will function as though you had your class levels in its respective class. Each feature is considered the same type of ability (Sp., Su, Ex, etc) that it would normally be. You can change your selection once every 5 rounds as a free action.

Example: A 4th level fighter uses the Topaz of Training and picks the Rage class feature from the Barbarian class, he will automatically get two uses per day, because that's what a barbarian of his level (4th) would get. For his second class feature, the fighter cannot select the damage reduction ability of the barbarian, because a 4th level barbarian wouldn't get access to it yet. Instead he decides to select the Animal Companion class feature from the druid class. The Animal Companion would function as a 4th level druid's animal companion.

* The Amethyst of Abilities: You gain a sacred bonus to all your ability scores. You can apply one of the bonuses to each of your stats, but you cannot apply more than one bonus to each stat, nor can you apply the same bonus more than once. The bonuses are +2, +4, +6, +8, +10, +12. You can change your allocation once every 5 rounds as a free action.

Example: A Wizard uses the Amethyst of Abilities to boost his ability scores. His scores are normally: Str 10, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 20, Wis 8, Cha 12. He applies the highest bonus to strength, then the next highest to constitution, then wisdom, then dexterity, then charisma, the intelligence. His new ability scores are: Str 22, Dex 20, Con 24, Int 22, Wis 16, Cha 16.

* The Tourmaline of Tricks: Gain 1 feat per two class levels you possess. You do not have to meet the ability score requirement or any skill rank requirement. If the feat requires class levels, you only need to meet the number of levels required in your class, not in the required class. Other requirements are still observed. You can select the order in which you gain these feats, as such you can select a feat and then select another feat which has the first feat as a prerequisite. You can change your selection once every 5 rounds as a free action.

Example: A 6th level druid uses the Tourmaline of Tricks to gain 3 feats. He selects Weapon Focus as his first feat, then selects Weapon Specialization as his second feat. He qualifies for weapon specialization because he selected weapon focus first, and he has enough levels in druid to meet the 4th level fighter prerequisite. For his 3rd feat, he couldn't select the Sacred Healing feat, because it requires Turn/Rebuke Undead, which he doesn't have. For his last feat, he picks Mounted Combat, even though he doesn't have the required ranks in Ride.

* The Coral of Competence: Select a number of skills equal to your class level. These skills gain a sacred bonus equal to twice your character level. If you are untrained in that skill, and the skill can only be used trained, you gain half the bonus to that skill. You can also select a number of skill tricks equal to half your class level. You do not need to meet the prerequisite ranks in the skills required, but if you don't, you must select that prerequisite skill as one of the skills that receive a bonus from the Coral of Competence. You can change your selection once every 5 rounds as a free action.

* The Fluorite of Fortitude: You select and gain one of the following immunities. At 10th character level and every 5 character levels thereafter, you may select an additional one from the list for a maximum of 4 at 20th level. The immunity granted is an Extraordinary ability. You can change your selection once every 5 rounds as a free action.

- Immunity to mind affecting effects
- Immunity level/ability drain or damage
- Immunity to elemental damage
- Immunity to sneak attack and critical hits
- Immunity to non-magical weapons
- Immunity to paralysis, petrification and polymorph
- Immunity to either a select number of spells (equivalent to the Greater Spell Immunity spell) or 1 selected 9th level spell.

* The Ruby of Race: While the Ruby of Race is in your possession, you can treat yourself as any race or any combination of races for all effects that are dependent on race. You can always choose the most favorable outcome for these effects. In addition, you automatically qualify for any size requirement. You can also change your height and weight up to two sizes smaller or three sizes larger. An increase in size will not burst bonds that are beyond your strength to burst, and you'll stop growing once a bond you cannot break or an enclosure would prevent you from doing so. You retain your own general features and will still be recognized as who you are.

If you possess any two or more of the gems:
Where applicable, you can change the abilities you select for each of the gem in less than 5 rounds. You can change them every 4 rounds with 2 gems, every 3 rounds with 3 gems, every 2 rounds with 4 gems, and every round with 5 gems.

If you possess any four or more of the gems:
Once per round, whenever you roll a natural 1 on a d20, you treat it as if you rolled a natural 20.

If you possess all six gems:
You gain a divine rank

Pixie? What?

Go go Black Ethergaunt!

Tourmaline of Tippy: Gain the Spells (EX) of a Wizard.
Supercharged: No Spells per Day.

But that has racial hit dice. As written, the gem only allows ignoring level adjustment.

Isn't their RHD less than their number of casting levels?

As a Free Action is a little nuts. You should switch that to 'Once a Day, as a Free Action'. Then they aren't changing things every single round...
