Okay, so we see Therkla's father in #555. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0555.html) But it just occurred to me that he looked familiar. And so I checked it out...don't you think he looks a LOT like Mr. Grand Larceny? (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0435.html) He even dresses similarly.

Hair is basically identical.
Shirt and pants are in a similar style, although Therkla's father as an evenly tailored open collar, whereas the thief has a rip in his shirt going down the chest.
Thief has 5 o'clock shadow, Therkla's dad does not.
Clothes and shoes are a different color, but more or less in the same style.

Conclusion: Highly unlikely to be the same person.

Comparing the two, they have exactly the same hair style, hair color, and non-stubble skin tone (R250, G214, B142). Which proves exactly nothing.

Yup. That said, the absence of stubble on the Therkla's Dad pic doesn't really prove anything either- a recently released (on a temporary basis) prisoner might be expected to not have had the opportunity to shave, or smarten up.

And the pic of Therkla's dad is of when she was very young- time might also play a part.

So- there isn't really much evidence either way.

That plus limited stick-figure hair sometimes cigars are just cigars etc etc etc.

possible, but unlikely. Espesually unlikely to be relevent either way now that both Therkla and Larceny are dead.

Therkla's father is perfectly shaven, while the Thief is clearly not.

So, not the same person.

Also a lot of the Azurites kinda look the same WHOARACISM. But you know what I mean. They do.

For all we know, The Guy With The Halberd is a different Guy With A Halberd in every panel!

Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar. Sometimes, characters that have a similar hairstyle just have a similar hairstyle. How many hairstyles do you think there are that can be drawn in stick figure style, anyway?

I'll just leave this here

Not. So. Fast.

It's obviously Therkla's father in both of them but also. One of Girards sons with an ilusion up! :smallcool:

In fact any father shown in comic is probably one of Girard's sons. :smalltongue:

What if Therkla's dad is (or was) the paladin from start of darkness? It could make Therkla's path to ninja as a possible cause.

Therkla is also Thog's sister!

And their father was actually Tarquin when he was trying out some hair dye and a new hairstyle!

:thog: ...therkal! therkal's thog's sister!

And if he doesn't join him in the dark side, perhaps she will.

That can't be possible. Thog doesn't use personal pronouns.

First person pronoun? What first person pronoun? >_>

You guys are great.

P.S. Yes, I know there's not nearly enough evidence to say it's the same person. Just an interesting "what if".

Given the genocidal actitude of the paladins in SoD towards green-skinned creatures, I highly doubt that any one of them whould sire a child with an Orc woman.

Plus, the scene in the cover of SoD never happened, as lampshaded by MitD in the book.

which basically means that
your theory implies that Therkla's dad is a guy who never existed in the first place.

Which, if you come to think about it, makes more sense than most theories about Therkla's parentage.

He does exist, but Xykon kills him when he's a human.

All we need to know is when he is killed! Therkla would be about at same age as elan (Twenties)! Maybe he married his orc wife (good alignment) secretly!

Happened 30 years before the first strip of the comic.

So, no, dates don't match. Therkla is younger that 30 in the comic (if noting else, because half-orcs reach middle age at 30, not 35 like humans, so Therkla would have been featured as a middle-aged woman, not as a young one), and in the flashback panel she is show with her father when she was a child, so she would have been older than 30 if her father had been the paladin in SoD.

That scene never actually happened in the plot to SoD. MitD said it best.:smallwink:

An almost identical scene happened with a living Xykon though.

"It didn't happen that way" says the monster- but it still happened- just slightly differently.

Okay! If the paladin is not Therkla's father
Meaning it is not the paladin died at the fort in SoD.
So maybe Therkla's dad got arrested for marrying an orc or killed by paladins.

Giant wouldn't bother to place such a connection in the comic if it were not going to be used.

As both characters are dead and staying that way I'm saying no.
