Just so you know, you could have just clicked the Preview Post button, to see if you'd done it right.

you can also shorten the link by altering the tag slightly.

{URL=http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218981}Magical Girl{/URL}, only using [ ] instead of { } would give you this;

Magical Girl (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218981)

It's more useful for signatures and such because only the non-tag characters count against the maximum character limit.

There are also the [post] and [thread] tags for linking to other posts. Also useful for saving character count on sigs.

Where is documentation for how to use post and thread tags?
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode#thread

The thread numbers can be found in the url for a thread. Where it says “showthread.php?t=xxxx” the xxxx number is the thread number. So for this thread, we would use “this thread”

You can get the post id number by clicking the number in the upper-right hand corner of the post (for example, your post above has “#6,” which will open a page with just that post. The page will have a url that ends in “showpost.php?p=xxxxxx&postcount=y.” The post id we need is the xxxxxx number. So for your post, we would use “your post”

You can also get the post id by using the quote button on a post, since the post id is he number after the semicolon in the quote tag.
