There will be a First through Third place award for each of the following:

Best Avatar (Any creation of 120x120 or smaller. Please do not include "large versions". The avatar must stand alone.)
Best OOTS avatar (Any OOTS-based avatar. Please do not include "large versions". The avatar must stand alone.)
Best Scene (Any scene larger than the above)
Best OOTS Scene (Any OOTS Scene larger than the above.)
Best Rookie Entry (only applicable to those who have never won a prize in any of these competitions before)

And, of course, the Best Overall award.

And as an extra, The Ruki's Choice Award, which I will give to whatever entry I personally like the most from any category.

Rules

1. All entries must be posted by January 1st, 2012. at Noon, EST.

2. Every entry must include a bolded introduction as to what category you're entering in. Additionally, if you've never won anything in a previous contest, remember to add "Best Rookie Entry".

3. Every entry must include an italic introduction as to what your entry is.

For example:

Haruki is doing something, cuz it's allowed



4. All entries may be submitted ONCE and for ONE single category. Exceptions to this include: Best Rookie Entries will be submitted for both categories, and all entries are contestants for the Best Overall and Ruki's Choice awards.
4.b. Another exception, when submitting a large scene, it is allowed to submit one single character from the scene as an Avatar. For example: If you submit a large comic, you may submit the character used for that comic separately.

5. You cannot re-submit an entry previously submitted to an IA competition.

6. Do not use spoilers. It makes the judge's job that much harder, and they may do you harm.

7. Only the avatarist who created the avatar may submit it.

8. Please do not quote images. The entry/name will suffice.

9. Keep entries within PG-13 or better. Adhere to forum rules.

10. You are allowed to enter any artwork created before the contest, but you are limited to one pre-made entry per category. There is no limit for entries made for the contest. This rule still requires you to adhere to rule 5.

I'd make a new one, although I've seen variants where everything is kept in one post.
But I do think its nicer to be able to naturally announce a new creation through a new post (and keeping the thread slightly active) rather than just edit it into an earlier post where many except the judges might miss the piece brought forth by your hard work and imagination.

It was a bit silly when you could submit an entry to the avatar category which when used as an avatar looked nothing like the splendid (large) version entered. Struggling with the small format and disappearing details are part of the challenge with the avatar format. :smallcool:

There's that, and also: The reason why Best Avatar remains a separate category is because if not you have 120x120 avatars competing against 640x480 brilliant colorful works, and most of the time they just can't hold up. To make it more fair, we judge avatars separately. when you submit a large version, you're asking the judges to please look at the large version instead which is... pretty much the same thing as having an avatar against a full scene.

Hm, after Haruki-kun's ascension to host I've looked at it so KK is the representative of the artists fighting the establishment and the rules while Haruki-kun embodies the same. :smallwink:

Ahem, thanks to the judges for your wise choices and thanks to all my loyal fans and other people for your support through this competition.
I really liked my two (sort of) original pieces for this competition, the much celebrated Stained glass window of Banjo and "Armageddon".
