Would an undead cleric that tried to turn or rebuke undead hit himself first? After all, he IS the nearest undead to himself. Right?

A cleric of Evening Glory would fit the fluff for an undead cleric too.

It's not RAW, but I would take a leaf out of Pathfinder's book and say that a Cleric can choose whether or not to include himself when he "channels energy."

For 3.5 raw:

Turned undead flee from you by the best and fastest means available to them. They flee for 10 rounds (1 minute). If they cannot flee, they cower (giving any attack rolls against them a +2 bonus). If you approach within 10 feet of them, however, they overcome being turned and act normally.

So even if you turn yourself, you would almost immediately break the effect; would take a chunk out of the total HD you could turn, though.

Turn Undead is a cone correct? Don't cones orginate from your square but don't affect it? Otherwise spells like Cone of Cold would be even worse than other Evocation spells.

I'm now envisioning the undead cleric on a psychologist's couch, making the realization that all this time he's been running from himself.

Turning is not a cone. It affects undead within 60ft.

Odd. Where did I hear that it was a cone? :smallconfused:

The illustration for turning in the PHB makes it look somewhat similar to a cone-like effect. Make of that what you will.

A cone of turn undead? Worst ice cream parlor ever.

I'd imagine that an Undead Cleric would just exploit the DMM trick rather then turning undead :smallconfused:

Pretty sure that by RAW, an undead Cleric Turns/Rebukes himself first... but it's clearly not intended. So, file this one under "Monks are not proficient with Unarmed Strikes" and "War Domain Clerics can't use Weapon Focus until level 2." RAW it's what happens, but clearly not intended.

Otherwise every level 20 Dread Necromancer gets really annoyed.

I'd think an undead cleric would take the Smite Evil variant, to ignore that problem.

While humerous (and true), the source of misinformation outdates me finding this site. But kudoes for making me laugh hystarically.
