Dear Giant,

I'm sure you've seen fans of your comic argue over the weirdest things. I know you don't normally bother with rules minutiae, but we've had literally weeks of vehement forum dispute over a matter that you could defuse within ten seconds. Would you please consider doing so?

A while ago, Celia carried Roy over Azure city (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0315.html). Since one can normally fly only with a light load, she would need a strength of about 20 to carry him.

So how does she do that? Is she just strong enough; or does she have a feat or spell that lets her carry more; or can she fly with a medium load; or is her strength irrelevant to how much she can carry, because she's flying; or something else... we would really appreciate any kind of answer on this, even if you think the question is silly (and yes, I feel like Professor Frink (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AWizardDidIt) now :smallwink: ).

Thank you for your time!

...You're upset over something from a comic that's like four years old?

Short answer: the Giant can overrule D&D rules for the sake of the story.

First of all, since it's story it doesn't really matter, second she probably could have easily used a silent spell levitate on him between panel 4 and 5 it says with the spell you can only move them up and down, but any force acting upon them will move them otherwise.

It's been pretty well established that D&D load rules cease to apply as soon as someone in OotS starts flying. There are a LOT more examples than just the one you made this thread about.

Troll Patrol: This is the same discussion that got another thread closed down.

As it stands, the "vehement discussion" mentioned is only the most recent in a long string of hostile debates erupting over details that are unimportant in the telling of the story. Because these debates tend towards the hostile and rules breaking, it is under consideration whether or not future discussions about what may or may not be on a given character sheet will be pre-emptively closed before that level of heated debate can be reached.
