So, with SW:TOR Early Access starting tomorrow, I figured I'd update my graphics card to the newest drivers. Unfortunately, it seemed to have not worked correctly and I had to roll back. I've never done this before so I'm not sure what I did wrong or how I can get it to work.
I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 with Windows 7 64-bit and a Mobility Radeon HD 5730.
Here's the step-by-step of what I did:
1. Went to the drivers page on the AMD website and selected my card series and OS. I'm quite positive that I selected all the correct options here.
2. Downloaded the Catalyst Software Suite. It then saved an .exe to my AppData > Local > Temp folder.
3. Ran the .exe, which opened the Catalyst install manager.
4. Chose "Express install" and did not change any of the save locations.
5. At one point while doing #4, a popup appeared saying that I did not have an "ATI" folder and asking if I wanted to create one. I clicked "yes." (I have an "AMD" folder but I wasn't comfortable trying to change the install location to it.)
6. Installation began.
7. At end of installation, received an error message saying that no drivers were detected on my device (or something to that effect) and noticed that my desktop/GUI was borked (lowest screen resoulition, missized windows, no taskbar transparency, etc.)
8. Rolled back my drivers.
