Hello, so i'm entering a low level campaign, starting at level 5, and I have the wizard role. So I decided to play a conjurer. Not many sources are usable, so I decided to stay core using Red Wizard.

Build- Human Conjurer 5 Red Wizard X

1. Tattoo Focus, X
3. Craft Wonderous Item
5. X
6. SF (Conj)
9. Leadership (for circle magic shenningans)
But I have no clue what metamagic/item creation feats to take past that..

I play on banning Enchantment and Necromancy, and then banning evocation for red wizard, as i'll have the basics of evocation.
Any other ideas?

Books- PHB,DMG,MM, CA,CD,CadV,CW,DrC, PlH,LM,

In Complete Champion, there's an ACF called Spontaneous Divination, which replaces your 5th level feat. It allows you to use your slots to spontaneously cast *any* divination spell. (Yes, that includes spells off the Wizard list.) The errata changed it so it's only Wizard spells, but it remains a very good choice. Of course, if your group doesn't use errata for some reason, it's a must-have.

I thought the errata changed it to only spells that you actually know?

Unfortunately Complete Champion isn't on my sources allowed..

At higher levels you'll likely want Quicken. Extend is good at lower levels, at least on Rope Trick (I'm assuming by your choice of a Red Wizard Conjurer aiming for Simulacrum shenanigans that you want something on the higher PO-low cheese part of the spectrum, so sleeping in Rope Trick is something you'll be cool with doing on a regular basis). Level 5 is actually a nice time to pick it up.

Since you don't have too many options, you might as well get Greater Spell Focus (Conj) for those few Conjurations that offer saves. Does a Red Wizard need Heighten to do those Circle Magic heighten shenanigans? If so, that would be useful too.

Sculpt Spell is quite nice for a BFC Conjurer, and with CArc you have access to it.

Thanks this is alot of good stuff, extend I'll pick up, and maybe sculpt, we house ruled specialist wizards get +1 DC to the specialist school, so in total I'll have +4 to my conjuration DC's (Tattoo focus, SF, GF, and specialist).

For heighten stuff I dont believe I need heighten, so thats all clear, any suggestions for my cohort (it cant take leadership)

Quicken at level 10 is obvious. I wouldn't get extend for level 1-3 spells, just spend 3,000 gp on a lesser rod of extend spell. I'd say empower but you don't have necromancy, so it's only good for fireballs and pyrotechnics.

Since you're level 5 I'd recommend sleet storm, sleet storm, and haste. There are few problems that liberal application of sleet storm cannot handle. It doesn't have a save but your feats will boost the concentration DC for enemy spellcasters.

Your cohort and a few of your followers might be a focused specialist so they can sacrifice more spell slots.

At 10th lv, there really aren't that many spells you can quicken. Extend is still fairly useful, and serves as a viable prereq feat for sculpt spell.

For spells, consider haste, summon monster 3, sculpted glitterdust, stinking cloud and/or extended rope trick.

See if you can get your DM to allow complete mage (assuming one of you has the book). The idea is conjurer3/master specialist3/red wizard+. If you are feeling particularly daring, you can go focused specialist for the extra slots, but the drawback is that you eventually end up with 4 schools banned (after going red wizard). Probably consider dropping evocation, necromancy, enchantment and perhaps even illusion. :smalleek:

C1: tattoo focus, spell focus, scribe scroll(b), swap familiar for abrupt jaunt
C3: extend spell
MS1: skill focus(b)
MS3: greater spell focus(b), sculpt spell

Paving the way for entry into red wizard. Shame that augment summoning will likely need to wait till lv9. :smalltongue:
