Let's see what I youtube can give me..

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBrSypv7y_E) is pretty harp music.

You could play this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UemOQXKywws&feature=related) and see how many people recognize it.

Same for this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDkoZvJeWpo&feature=related).

Yeah, I too suggest searching Youtube and seeing what you find.

Or pick a standard piece of music you like, and see if there is a harp version on iTunes...

Is that like a common enough thing though that he could find it?

People record Stairway to Heaven as a harp instrumental. And lots of classical music.

It's worth a couple of minutes to search.

A harp? For a traveling Bard?

Are you thinking lyre?

Try this:

Harps are pretty big. I don't know if it would be easy to carry around. I imagine that would at least incur encumbrance penalties. Those heifers weigh like 80 lbs. Lyre's, on the other hand, have a beautifully haunting sound and can be carried in one hand.

But it's fantasy, right? I mean... if the fluff fits, you could be banging out solos on an electric guitar for all anyone cares. But I thought I'd throw the lyre your way and see what you thought.

Well, a lyre, the Greeks had that, so I guess maybe do a search for Ancient Greek songs, if you can even find them.:smallconfused:

Look for Merit Zloch (http://www.myspace.com/meritzloch)

From personal experience i know that concert harps and "folk" harps need to stand upright and you can't move arround with them.
There are this little harp thingys with like 7 or 8 strings - those aren't much fun since you don't have much notes to play.
Hoping that helps

You're thinking of a concert harp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concert_harp

An Irish harp or Gaelic harp was the instrument of choice for Irish or Scottish bards. You can find people carrying them around and playing them sometimes at SCA events: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_harp

Here's one in use: http://bard.ansteorra.org/eleanor_fairchild/eleanor.html
