So notable writer, journalist and polemicist Christopher Hitchens has finally lost his battle with cancer. Whatever your views on his opinions (the majority of which are probably board-inappropriate, so let's try to stay clear of derailing the topic and discussing them), I believe the world has undeniably lost a great mind and an inspiration.

RIP, Christopher.

Requiescat in Pace Mr. Hitchens. We would have disagreed on many things had we met, but I hope that you are at peace now.

A man I highly respected for not letting false politeness get in the way of saying what has to be said. We'll remember what you've taught us.

Agree with him or not, love him or hate him, he had his opinions and he argued them with passion, conviction and eloquence. RIP.

I always enjoyed reading his pieces, he helped me to think in new and interesting ways, and was not afraid to say what he thought needed to be said.

Rest in peace, and may his family find comfort and peace in this difficult time.

Hitch will be missed. I count myself lucky to have been alive when he was alive. That eloquence and critical thought are hard, if not impossible, to replace.

Agreement with all of the above. Rest in peace.

While I never read anywhere near as much of his material as I should have (even though what I did was very interesting) I'll probably remember him most fondly for the superb debating I saw him display. May he rest in peace.

I feel bad for those who knew him personally, though I had no great attachment to his work.
