Is there a feat or class variant, etc. to allow a paladin-esque character to smite ANYTHING, regardless of alignment?

Could something like that work via 'favored enemy?' If so, is there a feat for that?

There is a substitution level from CoV web enhancement that gives paladins favored enemy instead of smite evil.

Crusaders are like paladins but better and can smite anything. Shadowbane Inquisitor is a prc that lets you smite anything as well, and applied to a rogue/paladin it'll make you batman.

What book is Shadowbane Inquisitor in?

I'm thinking about a crusader10/bone knight10 build

Grey Guard prestige class.

There are also a number of classes and prestige classes which allow non-Paladins to Smite a variety of non-Evil things in various ways.

You may wish to review the appropriate Smite Optimization thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185859), which lists out all of your various Smite options.
