I have read somewhere about a 'game' (powerfull) dragons play amongst eachother. It has to do with enlarging their own hordes/power/esteem and diminishing the hordes/power/esteem of the other dragons playing the game, they usually don't do this directly themselves but use pawns (players ;-) ) in order to further their goals. I believe it was written about in the Draconomicon but I have checked it twice and can't find it anywhere anymore, unfortunately I have also forgotten the name of this game (I thought it was something like Vaarkath, but I could be completely off) is there anyone who can tell me the name of this game and in which book it was written about?

I thought it was Xorvintaal, from Monster Manual 5.

The thing you're looking for is called Dragons of the Great Game, found in Monster Manual 5.
It is basically a fluff-justification to turn dragons into more "bestial" monsters. So far, dragons are, for better or worse, "only" sorcerer-gestalts with d12-hit die, meaning that their spells are far more dangerous (and necessary) against a party than their breath weapons and their claws, tail slaps, wing buffet and other stuff dragons are born with.
The Great Game-modification is to make sure that dragons still remain somewhat capable of withstanding magic, and also make them more relying on their breath weapon and natural weapons instead of flinging spells towards wizards and druids.
It also gives an incentive for player characters to interact more strongly with dragons.

Thank you guys, I was looking in all the wrong books apperantly :p

The whole idea is for the players to have more interaction with dragons (besides killing them ;-) ) and I liked the fluff although I will probably change some things to be more to my liking.

On another note, I have read these forums many times, always enjoying myself, this is the first time I had te register to ask a question which wasn't already answered somewhere on these forums, big thumbs up to everyone here :)

It is the game that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Some dragons, started playing it not knowing what it was
And they'll just keep on playing it, not knowing just because...repeat

Don't you just hate it when you get a song stuck in your head and you find out you've not only been singing it for days, but have been singing it wrong for days?:smallsigh::smallbiggrin:
