I'm guessing there was a similar one for weapon damage? It's an interesting way to handle it, though the drop distance bit does greatly annoy me on a realism basis, as smaller things can generally fall proportionally further (where 10 body heights is utterly trivial for most large insects, and 100 for smaller insects).

I was about to say, the shrunken sizes on that tabel were what D&D got RIGHT as far as square-cube law goes.

Let me put it this way: This was a near-FATE game, which uses a skill pyramid. That highest skill, on top of the pyramid? That would be Deceit; this character spent the entire game lying through her teeth. It was glorious.

Explanation:

I made a fairly basic Druid, going into a low-level game with quite a few people new to D&D. I was mostly using Entangle and such as we pottered around the countryside after kobolds (Including a time where it allowed our rag-tag bunch of morons to chip an Owl Bear to death while being level 1).

I remember doing almost exactly that in the very first Baldur's Gate game. Good times.

My animal companion wolf was mostly running around flanking, killing one or two kobolds every now and again... but then it became that the wolf didn't fear anything. At all. It's shrugged off about 20 attempts at paralysis on in, numerous fear effects, poisons, survived an attack with 1hp then killed it's attacker. So on and so forth.

And now we've gone underground and are mostly fighting undead. The sort of situation a level 3 Druid is utterly terrible in, but one in which a Large-Sized Wolf that doesn't seem to fail Saves ever is utterly destroying everything.

Welcome to 3.5 Druids.

Also, this might be a better picture for your wolf.

Here's one that I'm currently playing in a Legend campaign. Omnimental build.
http://i.imgur.com/sVoqQ.png

What I made, and omnimental essentially using all four of the elemental tracks and elemental pony.

What the DM saw, an opportunity to make Avatar jokes.

What I played, a shoggoth in the shape of a pony as a fellow player put it with a level of cheer that cannot be comprehended by mortal minds. All of those are mouths in case you couldn't tell by my crappy MS paint skills, and they are all smiling in some form or another. For a personality think Coyote from GC if he wasn't omnipotent or omniscient, but still just as playful.

In a previous game of werewolf, a very silly one, I played an explosives expert/terrorist who had a choice between spook squad or jail. I took spook squad and my answer for a lot of problems was bombs.

Anyone, one guy had heard about this game, and got it into his head that I blew everything up. He recruited for a proper Exalted game and I joined. My character was meant to be the son of a firework maker, and I was going to learn firewand based martial arts.

However, the GM got nervous I would blow everything up, so he made part of the plot that firedust had become very rare, due to alchemicals having invaded the south and taken most of it. This also meant no fireworks, so I ended up taking martial arts and learning solar hero style.

Explanation
College years: Eberron setting - Sharn based, low combat / more social game

I made a skill crazy Bard with enough melee skill to get by in a pinch.
When I started using Charm Person and Suggestion a little too much, the DM started to make assumptions of my character in a different direction...Didn't help that our group had a female elf with green hair either...was funny at the time.

later on, I notice I forgot to put down what I preformed with so I put down "Preform Rhymes" just to pull away from the Zero appearance,
And end-game, I pulled a perfect near-V-quote just before blowing the bad guy away with explosives despite the DM trying to metagame his way out of it...and failing...

btw, the game's goal was to expose the BBEG to the Courts or Constable...not kill him, so this guy in a mask was declared a terrorist...so I do what any smart masked terrorist would do...toss his mask aside and VANISH into the crowds until they need another outlaw hero.

further explanation

I wanted to be the guy who could do just about anything, from infiltration to assassinations and secretly be a spell caster, climb and use rope were abused a little too much so the DM started to hard-counter what I could do. Such as adamantine bars over a window when the window was on a sheer building side with no ledge under it and it only led into the kitchen... and there was nothing of value in this house, so I removed and took the bars, LOL.

and after getting blocked from swinging over by a Wind-Wall spell, I started to use (abuse) Charm Person+Suggestion and Disguise Self+Bluff to get around where the DM did not want me...it was actually easier to get what I wanted this way and this only made the DM more pissed at me.

and somehow my DM having seen Code Geass recently equates mind manipulations toward OP and kept making glowing red eye jokes...it got pretty bad...so I resorted to explosives...

He is called Chinese Electric Batman for a reason. DM wasn't really so far off, Zero is called FABULOUS Batman. And V is a little batmanish...He made entire set of differet pictures of Batman

From Epic campaing I just started playing:

Half-Orc Mystic Theurge

How it turned out
http://ecsmedia.pl/c/thorgal-tom-28-kriss-de-valnor-b-iext3872718.jpg
The backstory and personality turned out very similiar to that of Kriss de Valnor from Thorgal. Granted it was after I read a bunch of Thorgal comics.

Explanation

I made a teenage otaku girl. DM saw pretty much this - girl lusting over pretty boys from shonen anime.
We played game based on W.I.T.C.H. and my character ended up being snarky, entusiastic and incredibly genre savvy.

Explanation:
I made a Blue Telepath that I wanted to play as a psychic detective who used powers to find clues. I loaded up on Detect Thoughts, Gloves of Object Reading, Psychometry, the works. My DM just saw a guy that could make people's heads explode.

http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae257/appledooce/hero-worship-why-the-spider-man-reboot-will-be-amazing-20110715064544231.jpg

Explanation
So I made a character with a friend. We were brother Daelkyr Half-bloods who went into becoming bounty hunters with each other. The original idea was to be crazy silly bounty hunters who work together to get the job done well, but as we continued to go farther into our backstory and decided what would motivate us in life, it definitely leaned to a sort of obsessive need to kill the Daelkyr that created us. But as I kept moving into my build of being the smack-talking-acrobatic-guy (and then even getting tentacle whips that I could swing on like they were grappling hooks) I realized that I had become Spiderman.

Explanation:
In a nWoD game, I made a Genius (Klagen) focused on Exelixi and Metaptropi, very inspired by The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She starts off good, shy and relatively sane, but is destined to eventually split her personality in two more or less metaphorically, with her Wonders.

Turns out she's, so far, the only Genius with Exelixi, in a crossover game with many Genii. She's a nurse, and has healed a bunch of people. Very probably going to be a buffer, too. The GM gave her syringe gun a fault that makes people afraid of it. So, I suspect for most people, she's the "team" Medic with a scary pointy syringe gun.

Turns out I'm playing her in such a way she's very shy and socially awkward, but equally obsessed by past catastrophes. She's among the only ones to actively investigate the metaplot, and wants to prevent more personal tragedies from happening again. The really funny part is she's starting to get a lot of déjà vu (Genii running away from her, cars being controlled in the area to wreck stuff, bad stuff happening around 7/11 stores). Maybe she should invest in Skafoi and start doing some time travel. (It also turns out I am the only one who kept her Morality at 7 instead of decreasing it to get extra XP in exchange. It makes her the weakest PC around, much in the same way Homura is the only one to have no power that can directly hurt something/someone and needs to rely on her wits.)

TL;DR: I made a female Dr. Jekyll about to create Mrs. Hyde.
The GM saw a zealous nurse with scary needles and medical tools.
I play a shrinking violet trying to prevent disasters from happening (again) and has a lot of déjà vu.

Explanation
I made a gestalt PF Soulknife//Swordsage for our crazy gestalt campaign...at this point I'm the only surviving member of the original party and I actually managed to get Erupting Burning Finger as a custom Maneuver.

Also, the game started out a bit more serious...and somehow has turned into a Sentai Team, guest starring the PCs. I'm still not sure how that happened.

Explanation:
Video game inspired 3.5 game. DM let me play a 13 year old girl raised almost from birth to be a Paladin in the militant arm of the Church. Also let me swing the Lawful Neutral alignment which, post game, shifted to Lawful Good. In a group of ~5, she had the highest kill count by the end of the game.

Explanation:
With my usual group, I'm playing an evil campaign in which Mephistopholes somehow amassed enough power to grab our character's souls from their intended destination upon death. So there's a Raptoran barbarian from Faerun, and the other two of us, a Yuan-Ti Pureblood Assassin along with a Human Artificer, both from Eberron. I mentioned that my artificer dressed like a cowboy and talked like one, too. Then I mentioned off-handedly that he has a crapton of construct grafts, so I became the group's terminator. Doesn't help that I can hit the hardest and have the highest AC at this point.

WoD campaing I'm in right now:

What I made:
A writer who found strong connections between British govenment and the occult and had his reputation destroyed by higher ups. Also, a junkie.

What the GM saw:

mixed with
http://th02.deviantart.net/fs46/300W/i/2009/364/4/b/Black_Jack_by_Karmi_Sempai.jpg

Explanation

Pretty much as above, I made a writer who had found connections between the goverment and occultists, god his reputation destroyed and framed into cheating on his wife, who had left him. GM saw depressed guy struggling to get back what he lost and fighting with drug addiction. I played the best Spier Jerusalem I could, which wasn't very easy, but lead to many hialrous moments and some terrifing too (especially when I started to plan what I'll do with the BBEG once I get him). Also, in final game I managed to gave myself first aid to save myself from bleeding to death. With one hand. Twice. During the combat. Then I managed to succesfully operate on myself, still during the combat and with one hand, closing the wounds, desinfecting and burning them, all in one 7-seconds long round.

What we turned it into:
http://localmoviereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Red.jpg

Explanation:
GM had plot about two alternate dimensions, one, in which werewolves won the war with vampires and another, in which they lost. While we didn't played retired badasses, we did some crazy stuff like from that movie. Including filling temple of other world's vampires with gas and then sending them a bomb from our dimension.

Playing an Exalted game over Skype - my player rolls up a fighter type (not referenced) and a priest/sorceror (Zenith caste). Takes a powerbow, "just in case", but builds him as more of a healer/persuader with a bit of magic for the funsies.

Given his description, he sounded like Gandhi - holy man, aversion to killing, emaciated, tall, grew up in the South (i.e. desert), tried to bring enlightenment (heh) to those he encountered.

A session or two later, the warrior leaves to go check on something, and the holy man is hanging around town... when a giant necrotech monstrosity erupts from the ground. I was expecting the character to run to fetch the warrior, but instead... the most epic, climactic battle I've ever run. Priest runs around, sniping the creature, body-shielding civilians (and taking boatloads of damage), eventually hops up onto the back of the creature firing light-empowered arrows into the back of it's head... only to cause the thing to overload in an explosion of necrotic energy. He passed out from the explosion, protecting two innocent civilians (because my player refused to take Limit from a Compassion check) - wakes up a few days later with an extra dot in cult for his troubles ;)

So. I made Tryndamere as a Barbarian for a game once...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z57/Greenzangoose/234.jpg

And so...
1. I made Tryndamere with a massive Con score + the Ferocious Tenacity and Diehard feats for the 'Endless Rage' effect.

2. Everyone else I was playing with was used to the 'high Strength, low Intelligence' Barbarian builds that simply rush face first into battle to slaughter everything...

3. One of our party members was a gunslinger who'd been using his gunpowder to cause explosions and knock through walls and such. Tryndamere ends up, after a dare from one of the party members, picking up an entire keg of gunpowder and walking into the building where our enemies are hiding. Entering rage and lighting the keg as the entire party flees I deal MASSIVE damage to not only everyone in the building as well as the building itself but also collateral damage to anything on the city block, leaving nothing but a smoking black scar on the city where a building used to stand as several second later Tryndamere walked out of the building at -5 HP. :smallcool:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gwh-vxXqHGc/T7FQAAw6pWI/AAAAAAAABLc/jHRBpzrQ-kU/s800/BuiltSawPlayed.jpg

Explanation:

Gentlemen, this is why I love Exalted.

The game was Call of Cthulhu.

http://i50.tinypic.com/1o4p6h.jpg

I don't know what the guy in the bottom left pic is actually doing, but just imagine him reading Necronomicon or something. And I really had no idea what the players were actually expecting, which was likely a big part of the problem here. I should've asked them and I dearly regret that I didn't.

To the people who were playing this: Seriously guys, I'm sorry. And also very aware that you'll probably see this tomorrow when we're gaming and luckily

1) Will not be playing CoC
2) I won't be GMing.

Lol.

Time to get this thread started again.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y151/Warcraftace/Luckamancer.jpg

Explanation:
I was playing a gestalt Warblade//Luckamancer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12401803). The first pic is Joshua, a gambling swordsman from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones. The second is fan art of Mat Cauthon, a character from the Wheel of Time series with supernatural luck. The third, of course, is none other than http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y151/Warcraftace/otharzt0.jpg. This character was a snarky bastard who was damn near impossible to kill. With Evasion and Mettle, huge save bonuses and the ability to reroll low rolls, trying to hit him with anything that required a save was an exercise in futility and with a pretty high AC, permanent 50% miss chance, Uncanny Dodge and the ability to inflict Unluck on people, hurting him through straight damage was pretty hard too. He would frequently end combat without a scratch. As for how he was like Othar, to the villains he was that one hero that just wouldn't die, no matter what they did. between my smack talk and invulnerability I drove more than one villain into such a rage that they forgot all about completing their schemes and just came after me.

This isn't about me, but one of my players in a 4E game I ran. He played a Warforged Warden with a pretty crazy backstory. When he made it, he said "I've never played a tank. I think I'll play a tank."

What he played:

And I'm not even exaggerating.

His character is Animo Malefacto. He never smiles, he carries a ****-off huge hammer, and he is very, VERY angry.
We didn't now how Wardens work. He went around tanking, drawing every baddy towards him, and smashed the life out of everything, or used primal thunder magic to murder it's face off.
He managed to solo a Draco-litch. That was twice his level. He won, and currently wears Draco-litch scale/skin armor and has a hammer made from it's skull.
The man freaking wrassled the big bad off of his RED DRAGON. In our group, he's a Memetic Bad-ass, and we have memes about him. He even gave his own gravely, angry, man-voice to help with the role-playing, which he did scary well.

Explanation: So basically, I imagined this character as almost the Tiefling equivalent to Magneto or Redcloak. An evil racial supremacist for his own kind, who came to his views as a result of some pretty painful personal experiences. As it turned out, however, my DM mostly saw him as someone who had to be redeemed in order to play, even though my character, even at his most evil, really didn't get that much worse than the supposedly neutral-aligned ranger and rogue. As such, she decided that, rather than building up much to that point, she'd almost immediately force my character into seeing his faith shattered before his very eyes, which (obviously) isn't going to leave someone fit for adventuring five minutes later. My RPing a strongly devout character's descent into depression after an agent of his god literally came before him and said "Hey. You know those guys our faith really, really hates? We're working with them now. And we never really wanted you to have your job. Oh, and we're about to kill you." was construed as "Wangst". I really don't understand that part.

Explanation

My character was Elf alchemist with 'fallen Paladin" in backstory, who was getting jobs to have money to raise goblin child she was taking care of. As for gameplay, I envisioned her as sort of Hawkeye character, planning to take this discovery which allows Alchemist to attack her bombs to arrows. Because she was using bow, I'm pretty sure DM saw her mostly as an archer. In the game my character sort of filled Batman/skillmonkey nice - opening locks, making good knowledge checks, pretending to be someone else, dropping bombs at people and pretenging to be lesbian to get somebody's attention away from her teammates. She was alo very pragmatic and kinda cynical.

http://www.mgtowforums.com/forums/attachments/new-members-introduction/1309d1334623249-hello-russia-spetsnaz-600x480.jpg

Explanation:
I wanted to build a wild survivalist hunter type for 4E (standard issue Razerclaw Ranger). The DM wanted to fast-forward the nature hikes and get straight to the dungeons. So, I kind of got stuck in the back row sniping minions with Twin Strike while the fighter and barbarian got to have all the fun. Next level, I retrained my abilities and feats and became a wildly effective acrobatic ranged fighter who could shift almost as fast as he could move. I basically used acrobatics checks to twist and flip my way around, under, or over obstacles or terrain issues so that I could keep moving.

We were just making the switch from 3.5, so I was keeping it simple. Not knowing any better, we rolled our stats like we did in 3.5 and I ended up with a mostly DEX character, with fantastic stats in Nature, Acrobatics, and Stealth. Since skill checks didn't come up at all in this dungeon delver campaign, I had forgotten all about his skills. When I was retraining, I took a better look at the skills and thought, wow... Speznaz. Cool!

Explanation:
I play a Dawnflower Dervish 2 (melee bard)/Urban Barbarian 2/Unarmed Fighter 1, quite possibly the most useless Bard build I've seen. However, the character is insane. Wields a scimitar, uses Dex for most everything, can rage and battle dance at once and can dump said rage into Dex for more shenanigans. Also, at level 5, she's not even breaking 40hp but jacks her AC up to 25 without breaking a sweat.

The TL;DR version is that she's an overly violent rage filled Half Elf Varisian wanderer (Heavy Romani influence) that hates slavery (to the point of considering any murdered slavers as "justified") and suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder and trauma-induced amnesia (witnessed her parents being murdered and eaten by hobgoblins. Killed'em with fire and blocked the memory and fabricated a new identity for herself to help her cope). Also has some slight pyromaniac tendencies.

The DM and players see her as useless 'cause she can't drop an Inspire Courage or have access to Bardic Knowledge, but they kinda stop poking fun at her when she's tanking five vikings when half the party is dead or dying.

Since every time I've tried to post the pictures, it borked up, I'll just explain it:

What I played- Bard. Upon being challenged by the DM, who had a low opinion of the class.

What the GM Saw - Elan. Complete with kazoo.

What I played - Joker Bard. See sig for details.

Then he outlawed Diplomancy and fiat declared that everything can see through changeling's shapechange, to keep me from pretty much doing whatever I wanted to do and getting away with it.

Next game, he dared me to play bard again, with the above stipulation.

The first two were identical, for the final... it was part Trogdor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3cTPrWoHnM), part Metalocalypse, and part Manowar (www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9idQ9NTqsw). Bardblade with War Chanter thrown in for good measure. DFI abuse. A dip in WhirlPounceBarian for pounce, the whole party had effectively full BAB (Song of Legion), +16 to attack and damage, and +16d6 sonic damage.

So yea... after that, the GM just threw up his hands and conceded that bards can, in fact, take a level in Badass.

Then someone got up on their feelings about the Tier System and how always right it was, regardless of relevant levels of optimization, and how a lower tiered class can NEVER beat a higher tiered class, regardless of optimization tricks. So I dared him to build a Tier 3 character, and I'd beat him with a Tier 6 class.

Yea, for those of you not familiar, check out my sig for the Scariest Samurai Alive. Had him fear-locked the first turn, and I slowly whittled him down.

So, what I made: Samurai, in full regalia, including Oni Mask.

What he saw: Derpy Face

What I played: Honestly, I don't know what picture to put here, something so terrifying that it can reduce a Warblade to his knees (yes, he IHS'd it away, I turned it back on the next turn, and he didn't have a chance to refresh it.)

Or...

What I made: White Mage

What the GM Saw: Friar Tuck

What I played: Godzilla

Yea, DMM Persist ClericZilla.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_hjPxiwYgezI/TBYDljFA28I/AAAAAAAAAY4/sfThCkxQwC8/s1600/KyonFacePalm.jpg

Explanation:

I made character that was supposed to be most unconventional Elven bard you have ever seen. He was middle aged (yes, middle aged Elf), fat and has huuge ego. He was also based on popular character from well-known book in my country, known for being exactly that, but also pretty smart and outsourcing. I don't know what GM saw, but I think he and players seen him mostly as a joke character, as it was hard to take him seriously. Game haven't gotten anywhere and died pretty quickly, but before that happened my character self-proclaimed himself to be groups mentor, befriended two tortured and lost souls of the party and managed to avoid party having to duke it out with very angry Dryad. Looking back now, I think I was the only character not using any powerful homebrews and probably the weakest. So in group of dangerous individuals I was the normal guy, who glued them together and keept them from wrecking the world. So I was Kyon. While still being what character was intended AND what the GM saw, because even when doing that I was walking joke.

I had just gotten the Dragon magazine about the ancients, so, without having any idea what the DM had in mind for the plot, I ran it by him and made a millenia-old sorcerer. As explanation for why he was level one, the DM explained "You have amnesia," and made my character an important plot point.

I played the hell out of that.

My favourite bit was my character's familiar: a cat named Cat.

Explanation
So basically, the character I made was a Solar Exalt from what was basically the equivalent of Kandor in Exalted--a place that retained a lot of its First Age Culture, basically, and didn't change much with the times--that was destroyed, forcing her to go out and rebuild everything in a totally unfamiliar world. However, a surprisingly large amount of other chat-goers decided that it would be a great idea to attempt to form some sort of relationship with her, which was, I must admit, incredibly funny. Ultimately, however, the other chat-goers perceptions weren't nearly as relevant as the fact that she was my first Exalted character, and I had no real clue how the system worked, which meant when I realized my stats weren't all that suited to the goal I'd set for her, I had to spend a large chunk of my IC time training her up rather than doing things, and thus she was kind of holed up more than she was getting out in the world.

Bow before Iskandar, KING OF CONQUERORS, and his army!

Sort of funny that he looks like a vaguely handsome ogre, as the real Alexander was one of the only historical figures who fit the bishonen mold at all. That being said he is a rather good anime approximation of Phillip II, Alexander's father. So considering Fate's track record with historical accuracy, missing by one generation isn't too bad.

You should check out Fate/Extra, the PSP game. Cu Chulainn gets a Tron suit and Francis Drake is not only a woman but gets gigantic boobs.

Fate's take on history and myth is silly but I think that's half of the fun.

Technically the Tron suit makes perfect sense in the setting...and there's a throwaway line in the Japanese version that suggests Francis Drake and Elizabeth II traded places at some point.

Agreed on Alexander, though, he really probably should have traded appearances with Gilgamesh, he of the enormous beard in all his depictions.

you are pretty much dead on accurate. Lilliana isnt remotely suductress (outside of the first Planeswalker book, but there she really just wants Jace's pants). she is better described as ruthless bitch.

Her origin as a Planeswalker story is perhaps the best representation of why the color wheel is a better morality system then the Morality grid of DnD. its just that in gameplay terms, we really only see the colors at their worst (because that is where the colors are the most differentiated).

As far as I know, there isn't another. You have to do the research of it yourself

For a rough start. Ya, it is fine. It handles white as LG, not LNE. It forces paladins to be primary white instead of primary red with secondary white or black.

None. You literally just have to take the color wheel and pick a couple colors.

For a rough start. Ya, it is fine. It handles white as LG, not LNE. It forces paladins to be primary white instead of primary red with secondary white or black.

???

White is LGNE, and is the best color for paladins. And that is why I love the color wheel. Because not only is the paladin more flexible as White than as Lawful Good, he can also choose secondary colors.

Also, Red pretty much represents chaos, and goblins (which are neutral evil). It could be a secondary color for a more boisterous paladin, but primary for all... I don't see it.

no. Red is first and foremost Emotion. Chaos is an extension of that (and even moreso Green's Territory). more specifically, Red is where Conviction (the Paladin's entire class is Conviction in one's Ideals) is. White is good in the way an Angel is good, IE: With no real connection to the individual.

Explanation

I had it written in her backstory that the young Aasimar merchant girl was once a slave bought by the guildmaster and that she was sent on her "travelling merchant" quest in order to test her skill in the guild. She was favored in the guild since the old guildmaster saw her like a childish daughter, however over the course of the campaign I made so much money I monopolized the shopping district and basically become an NGO that even the lords were afraid of ticking off (The 14 levels in cleric didn't hurt).

Conviction requires putting your ideals above your empathy, your anger, your love, and your sadness. That doesn't sound very Red to me.

Chaotic is a terrible word for alignments in general. Lawful characters are better at swallowing their emotions. A chaotic Red character will not leave his love for war, unless he desires being a war hero more than he desires the girl, or is particularly good at the art of war and decides that if his nation wins, he can come back home with his love waiting for him. A lawful White character is the opposite: he will serve, and the glory will be a nice benefit.

I dunno about best, but at worst, Red is a - you know what? You're right. It's a berserker.

I'm not saying that paladin can't be Red. I really like the White/Red combination, actually. Simple and strong, both in offense and defense. It is not without intelligence and cunning, but it is better suited to a strong hammer and a sturdy shield than an assassin's dagger or a wizard's trick. However, I think a paladin is better suited to White primary.

What's stopping a chaotic good character in the current system from having strong convictions? The only difference between a lawful and a chaotic good in that regard is that lawful is more likely to codify his beliefs, while a chaotic is more likely to follow his instinct. A lawful good character is also more likely to try and work with existing organizations in a Sun Tzu "diplomacy first" style.

I don't know all that much about the colors besides the tenth edition color wheel and looking at cards of various colors. I will say, however, that Red and White both lend themselves well to the straightforward attitude of a paladin, but White is more diplomatic.

So maybe make it that they can be either Red or White primary? Eh, but Red primary still gives players an excuse to be a barbarian with paladin spells and no Rage. But I personally don't have a problem with that if you follow the fluff of paladins being kind and devoted warriors from all walks of life, with a special divine spark.

I can't do pics on this machine, so I'll just make one statement about the alignment hiccup that started.

No alignment system will ever be perfect or make everyone happy.

That just kind happens when you try to squeeze the entirety of human behavior into only a handful of boxes; 2 axes, 5 colors, even a 12 note musical alignment system where your character is described by chord.

The entirety of morality and ethics can't be summed up that simply, in no small part because their so subjective to culture.

All that said, I agree with the others, further discussion should probably be taken to another thread.

It took me an embarrassingly large amount of time to do this.
http://i.imgur.com/Tb7sx.jpg
Explanation:
I had wanted to make the Campest most obvious villian I could think of as a session filler to give the group time to pick up some contacts in the new city. So I built Gouda De Vil. (Aka: The Big Cheese.) A morbidly obese lesbian in an attempt to stop one of the group from hitting on her. (It didn't work.) She's a "legitimate business-woman" attempting to gather resources for a foray into the Restaurant business through a combination of dirty dealings, blackmail and the murder of one kitten.

The PCs came into it when she attempted to hire them to capture some ingredients so that she could supply her cooks (An Ettin, several Bugbears, a varied group of player races and a freaking RAKASHA.) and team of clerics. Who would heal the butchered animals (and the occasional sentient) during slaughter in order to make sure that the meat is as fresh as possible and so they wouldn't need a constant stream of carts pulling some of the less than savoury ingredients into the building. (Sucrose mostly though they do occasionally get delivery of lollies and cakes from across the street.)

So of course the player's sign right up for a low-paying, high risk (but admittedly high xp) job that involves ritualised torture, enslavement and semi-frequent raids by a group of Paladin.

I couldn't believe it. I'd even given her an obviously evil name.

It was my first real attempt at an evil PC, and it was for a low-op campaign. So, I'm thinking: son of an evil overlord. I go with Aristocrat/Paladin of Tyranny. I dumped in WIS and DEX, thinking, he's brash and cocky (unwise) and who needs high DEX when you've got good armor. I built him for mounted combat (because Aristo's don't walk, put all my ranks in Ride and Handle Animal and bought myself a horse (I wasn't a high enough level to have a Pally's mount yet). I even took Inattentive and Shaky as flaws for more mounted feats.

Then we started a campaign that was all about Sense Motive, Spot and Listen checks. *Sigh* To make matters worse, I couldn't seem to roll above a 5 in anything. So he quickly turned into the comic relief of the group... the bumbling idiot from a Right Behind Me (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RightBehindMe) trope who never got to stab anything with his lance while riding Johann (my totally awesome friesian stallion). The DM thought: great, we have a Cleric! And in the end I was mostly completely helpful (because I'm not crazy, I'm just evil), to the extent that I ended up preparing mostly buff spells and boosting the other party members because the melee was fairly heavily optimized. -Another player who does not like Katawa Shoujo and thinks he's a super writer, and was a all around smug jerk who caused trouble.
-He kept dragging away or ruining, scenes with my character cause he's going to have her do something raunchy!!!
-She became from scarred victim into the groups troll.
-And generally tried to cause problems for the leader of the group the other guys character
The game was 7 sessions. Each 5 hours long. I got a total of 10 minutes session 1. And in 4 is when she became the troll

Legend(with a bit of homebrew)

Image

Explanation
I made basically a veteran tactician who was a sentient item and was fairly subtle about the more human side of herself to others. Naturally since I didn't make it obvious the group really just saw her as a fairly chatty glove. She ended up revealing herself later(she had the ability to take a human form, but she didn't make use of it til several sessions in), but her main role I would probably describe as something like Cortana. I knew and was keeping pace with the direction of the plot fairly well, and had fairly good knowledge of the world and where we should be going. This resulted in her basically being the mouthpiece for reviewing plot exposition(occasionally necessary for full recap mode since we took on some new players halfway in) and telling us where we needed to go next and why. Some of her IC dialogue wouldn't have been out of place in a video game pre-mission cutscene or something. I did actually enjoy this somewhat because sorting out the tangled mess of what we'd gotten hip deep into and being able to actually explain it in a way that made sense did really help her direct the party in what we needed to get done and was kind of fulfilling. She also definitely came across as a sort of AI based off of someone else's personality, between telegraphing her combat actions over world-mind like she was running a program and providing tactical advice/bonuses (also through world-mind) directly to the rest of the party.

For the Genius: The Transgression game I played,

http://i40.tinypic.com/2i8ulcp.jpg

What (thought) I Made: I wanted to make a Conspiracy Theorist type, an investigator out to seek the truth of the conspiracies that manipulated the world, and the paranormal forces within it. I imagined him staking out haunted sites and sneaking into classified areas, conducting interviews, trying to convince people, and generally being a younger, somewhat siller version of Mulder.

What the GM Saw: What I ended up writing as the primary goal of my character; "To find and record the supernatural." I had 3 dots in Weaponry (Well, the ST said to get some combat skills), 3 dots in Athletics (it seemed like a really useful skill), no dots in Stealth, vice of Pride (which translates to making other people go along with you). My initial Mad Science gadget (aka Wonder) was rocket-powered roller blades, whose Fault was and I quote; "Spews rainbows, sparkles, and loud noises when used", and this set the tone for all of my other stuff. Looking back, I gave the impression my character "investigated" by blowing through the front door at 50 miles/hour and beating up everyone in the way, while shouting nonsensical stuff and dragging everyone along with his plans.

What I played: Between all the other PC's dying and my character's sister getting kidnapped, I ended up as the main character by default in a quest to save the world timeline. Did I mention my character was 17? And that he had 3 dots in Craft? I even had a sword by the end!

I thought it was pretty obvious. He made a lady warrior, the rest of the group mentally emphasized the "lady" part, at least until he started to achieve a body count that they never thought possible.

A body count that rivaled my character in my most recent post on this thread. Still amazed she racked up a 20 person body count before getting the T-1000 limbs. That campaign went down hill fast and screaming

So, I decided to create a swordsage fighting shock weapons and managed to talk down DM to re-fluff Desert Wind and give it electricity damage instead of fire, which was great. DM, however, stated that I use some sort of ancient technology to do it, and it is not used as a weapon, but is instead augmenting the body, giving the character superpowers.
But it didn't matter anyway. Any electricity or implants were totally overshadowed by my character wrestling with gorilla in her first fight ever.

I am going to ask my DM to do that, especially since my character is obsessed with electricity.

Close, but not, so to say, divine enough.

We were playing Lords of Creation. I made godess of war, which inspired other player to make a god of war himself. His character had strong Ares/Morgoth vibe, so people sort of assumed my character will be Athena to his Ares. I took it as a challenge and ended up doing many awful things, starting with creation of orcs, going through horribly backstabbing her own worshippers for petty reasons and ending up causing horrible war between different forsm of my character, that resulted in her ascending to be lord of creation and diety on universal scale, at the price of becoming almost mindless and uncaring about the world.

I need to try Sith's idea once, through.

Explanation
This was for a Vampire: The Masquerade game, and he was my second character (I don't have any love of vampire mythos, before Twilight even came around, but my friends were running a game of it so I tried to make a character. My first was a Ravnos with kleptnomania that I sort of enjoyed, but I eventually came up with a character concept I liked MUCH better. The idea was, he was a US soldier, did his duty, very patriotic and loved the U.S.A., or at least an idealized version of it. After doing his service, he became a soldier of fortune in the middle east, befriending an older merc, but eventually becoming mortality wounded. Said friend he had befriended was actually a Brujah who admired his democratic ideals, and gave him the choice of becoming an Undead Vampire rather than dying. He then proceeded to work with his Sire trying to make things better, until eventually crossing the country he loved in an 'incident', where a few U.S. soldiers really crossed the line, their superiors covered it up, and so he had to make things 'right'. After that, he decides to return to the States (where the campaign was), deciding to go back to try and reconnect with his humanity after the incident. And as he's going to a Prince to identify himself as he moves through his territory, is caught up in the events which propelled the group's story.

However, the Storyteller instantly latched onto the idea of him being a Freedom Fighter *coughterroristcough*, and the party joked about him utilizing explosives all the time, even though it only happened once, and it was the party's plan. As built, he had points in guns (he WAS a soldier) and brawl (hand to hand training), and was supposed to rely on using rifles and that sort of thing in combination with disciplines while spreading the ideology of democracy and equality even in the Vampire world.

Enter series of wacky events that include massive xp inflation and going back in time to the dark ages, and he picks up Proteon 2 for the claws, Celerity 5, and Potence 5. He was notable for taking down TWO gargoyles in one turn, and having a third with a seriously bad ouch.

Then again, there wasn't much more my character could do - especially after spending quite a huge xp investment into improving his social skills (he was reconnecting with the 'poet' part of the Brujah's ancestry) - only for ruling that Presence flat out can't work against lower generation vamps and almost never working as intended made it practically useless.

The ExplanationIt was Spring of 1996, a grim and unfashionable time. I entered my first Vampire the Masquerade character into mostly-primogen World of Darkness campaign that the other characters had been playing for 2-3 years.
He was... Damien Drakkar! high school jock, ladies man and all around nice guy who had been embraced into the kindred by a fairly badass Gangrel. Confused and bewildered, Damien made his way to Chicago, and found a home in the intrigue of that most dangerous city.
The ST(s) thought he was a hilarious joke character - a Gangrel with high social and physical stats, particularly since against the more seasoned characters and threats of Chicago, he was constantly being knocked around. He was, The Worf Effect. (Warning: TV Tropes!) (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWorfEffect)
The other characters, all seasoned veterans with hundreds of EXP under their belts, thought Damien was a delightful punching bag. He was a great visual distraction - a super handsome and charismatic guy, who - thanks to Stamina 4 and 4 ranks of fortitude - could take massive punishment without registering as a real threat. So they'd just shove Damien into danger under the influence of Dominate or Presence, and then go about their business while he was distracting the mooks. Even better for the other PCs - once Damien was all beaten up, they'd graciously give him a little blood to help him heal up, and reinforce his loyalty to the group.

Damien was smart enough to know that these older vampires would make short work of him in a fight, and so he studiously pursued a path of peace, diplomacy and enlightenment after learning of the legend of Golconda. Somehow he survived my entire time in college gaming with this psychotic group, and eventually became a power in his own right. He focused on mastering the art of seduction and diplomacy, and let his handsome looks lull foes into letting their guard down.

Additionally, it became a running joke for the STs to have women (mortals, mages and vampires alike) constantly throwing themselves at Damien, thanks to his good looks and my own real-life reputation among the less-socially-inclined group. Sometimes it was helpful, most of the time it just made me look silly while trying to be heroic.

That guy was unending amounts of fun to play.

And, Explanation:

The last time I was back in the states for an extended time I had a chance to sit in for a few sessions with my old gaming group, and since my character would basically amount to a guest NPC I persuaded the DM to let me try out the Time Theif class (3rd part, Pathfinder) which didn't look very powerful (it isn't) but looked like it could be really fun in its own right (it was).

When I read through the time theif abilities I immediately thought of Lobsang Ludd from Thief of Time while the DM saw it and immediately thought of Prince of Persia. I created an Aladdin/Sinbad inspired backstory for a loveable rogue figure who'd try (in vain) to talk his way out of the trouble he invariably got himself into.

My character was introduced to the party after they were framed for the murder of the King and arrested by the nobleman who I'd most recently been caught stealing from, and we hit it off pretty well. When our escape started I decided to try to bluff our way out of the dungeon rather than fight... and I rolled around 14 20s, 3 18s, and 1 17 against guards who continued to roll incredibly badly. It helped that our party Sorcerer was clever and started using illusions to back up my lie that there was a dragon loose in the dungeon and our Half-dragon would roar along with the silent image as well.

I finally started failing my bluff checks left and right once I'd scared all of the guards out of the dungeon and they'd effectively locked us in, and then they wouldn't believe that the dragon had left.

The DM was experimenting with the life-path generator variant rule and had me try it out for my character and this landed me with a 14 year old dependent (who probably was actually the King's illegitimate daughter and rightful heir to the throne) that was like a kid sister to my character. So apart from a plucky young female companion that my character took with him on some of his adventures I also had a robe of useful items, just so I could pull battering ram out of my pocket and tell people that said pockets were "bigger on the inside."

I really only used my ranks in bluff and a few creative magic items during my stay in that game, but it was amazingly fun.

Our party: CN Orc Sorcerer: vain, clever, and very unorthodox. My character and him got along well.
LG Half Dragon Paladin: Proud, Honorable, loyal. He didn't take his hand of his sword around me for a long time under the reason that I had proven myself to be a very good liar and he didn't trust that.
LN (leaning good) Cleric of Fate: Logical, orderly, and in charge. The official party leader and I had and understanding of sorts... While our characters got along there was a hilarious meta-game level that if she found out how my character manipulated time to survive she'd be obligated to kill me. Also, she occasionally summoned energy beings in the shape of Grim Reapers that scared the crud out of my Time Theif (though her character never figured out my secret and I never found out where the reaper things came from because I never had line of sight on her when she summoned them).

What I played: http://i2.listal.com/image/478806/600full-inspector-gadget-photo.jpg

Explaination:

This was with a group of players regretably far far less awesome than the ones above.

My character concept: Nikoli Tesla - Ghost-buster.

The DM was preparing a 1 to 2 session small pathfinder game and told us nothing about it except for starting level. I asked if I could play an Artificer if I promised not to purposefully abuse the class by linking tons of spells onto the same item.

Because the DM was unfamiliar with the character class I tried to be as helpful as I could supplying the DM with information regarding my spells and magic items well in advance so that nothing I did came as a nasty surprise. Because the concept theme was Nikoli Tesla, Ghost Buster, my spells were all lightning based where possible and my character's focus was a professional paranormal investigator.

In retrospect, with that particular DM being that cooperative was a mistake. The DM planned 2 of the 3 encounters we'd face around monsters immune to electricity. With my lightning spells completely neutralized I could only support the other PCs with a grab bag of novelty items. My character survived that short lived game largely by being too little of a threat to draw attention. I still love the concept though.

I wanted the whole super soldier combat guru with inner peace theme in a robot

Gm saw the fact the robot escaped the government facilities before joining the team, by using the plasma welders to escape. And the fact it observed organic life as fragile(ignoring the but also beautiful part)

End result the robot wore a trench coat and fedora to hide in public cause it had no invisibility or other powers. Surprisingly it worked.
As this no nonsense and completely matter of fact death machine with tank levels of armor walked into millionaire parties. Well calculating the best ways to remove human error from every scenario. And slowly working to return the world to the beasts

Jackie was a mostly normal kid
A aspiring Musician, well off parents with a popular restaurant.

Then the girl that would fall in love with him came into his life.
Her name? Calt? What did she look like? Well she's a 40ft long albino anaconda who can shape-shift into wind, snow, or a beautiful female human form.
Calt either saved him from freezing to death or caused it to kill his parents.
After that Jackie was becoming more and more unhinged and thinking more and more he was a god.

Gm saw a intellectual character with dead parents. And latched onto the fact the character was becoming a Mulder+Batman.

Jackie became Kira when the Gm decided to rattle the characters cage with having him see the events of his parents deaths, replay over and over and over and over.
Generally the wound tight and ready to snap kid snaps at this point.
So he used the ability to create a blizzard Calt gave him. The rest is several dead NPC's, several mind controlled people, and a dead PC later

The GM set up a fairly serious Marvel Superhero campaign using GURPS. The idea was that most of the known 4-color heroes & villains vanished without a trace and the vacuum caused a lot of new faces to try their hand at villainy. We were to be new heroes that showed up to replace the emtpy seats on the SHIELD helicarrier.
The GM gave us the stipulation to be interesting and slightly bizzare with our ideas. "Otherworldly" in other words.

So, I created a witch based on The Great and Powerful Trixie from MLP. The idea behind my character was that in her world, magic was so commonplace that she was just an average spellcaster. She managed to transport herself to Earth where magic is rare and thus she could do the heroic deeds she wanted to and make a name for herself.
Like a magical version of Booster Gold, but more altruistic.

Unfortnately the GM (and some of the players) could not get the hint that I wasn't trying to be a complete ham. My character ended up being the "plucky comical sidekick" to the team instead of a heroic witch who wanted to make a difference in a low-magical land of lawlessness.

-PC wanted to make a shapeshifter, with the ability to grow. So decided to have what let him grow(and all his other powers), be a extra-dimensional entity that bonded to the girl.

-I was expecting military girl to be a decent part of the character, even though she was supposed to be military !@%#@&&. That would use her powers for good. And the entity would have major control of how she worked mentally. Ala Spiderman and Symbiote

-Instead I got the entity had lobotomized her and she was only muscle memory. The entity had no idea of other, which was stupid because it still collected blood samples to mimic others.
It had no understanding of anything remotely human or acted in any way that would be considered human

-PC's decided to try and save the girl[Somehow killing his character which was a no personality killing machine]. They restored the girls mind and the creature. And if they hadn't put up stuff to separate the two the player would have had all there work been reversed by the next session.
Instead the thing now thinks its god. But the girls in charge.

-Now the PC is tossing out a lot of what we talked about.
Example; That it was still connected mentally to the rest of its form[The part bonded to the girl was a hand basically].
No we discussed that it lost connection the moment it went into this dimension. That was the first thing we discussed, and I said no never.
-He wants the creature to understand multi-dimensional thinking. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on
And a whole slew of other things that never came up when we first worked together on the character
-Has the character angry at the PC's for restoring her mind... What. WHAT!!

For a 7-year running, multi-storyteller campaign of Immortal: the Invisible War, a game where you play as yourself, and discover that you are the latest incarnation of a several-thousand-year-old immortal being who has been 'sleeping' in human form for the last few hundred years.

Siiiiiilverbolt!

Explanation: 19 year-old me suddenly discovered he was occupying brain space with the memories of the greek hero Perseus and the knight of the round table, Sir Percivale. And they were together part of an older being, an elemental wolf made of fire. And the DM kind of expected me to be all warrior, all the time, with a bit of sappy romantic in there.
Instead... I was All Hero, All the Time, with little respect for my own well-being. I'd charge in, headlong, while spouting cheesy encouragement to my allies and blasting a heavy fist into the face of evil!

I told him the creature would not be his character. That was a big no, your not the creature, your not venom you are spiderman.
As I pointed out the entity was a thing it had no character, no personality.
It was supposed to be. A victim who was being used by a mindless animal.

Maybe she's depressed and letting the entity take her over was meant as a pseudo-suicide attempt that has now failed?

That would work... except he wanted to know, nothing about his back-story.
Also she had no idea what it would do.
You know complete amnesia. So his back-story is completely under my control. He agreed to that we talked about that and he's still complaining about it being comic booky.

Explanation:
Created a kitsune Haunted Oracle of the Dark Tapestry, focusing on mind and insanity type effects. Practically the PF version of a worgen WoW shadow priest. Her background however had her growing up as a Varisian, just because the idea of a kitsune gypsy tickled my fancy. The way it ended up going though, she basically cribbed from Kamen Rider Wizard, with a strange eclipse ritual to summon otherworldy creatures woke her power and the only thing that saved her was hope, and given the chance she'd use their own power to fight against them.

I tried, really tried to play him as the gentle giant. Right up until my efforts to stop a gang of terrorists led to a dozen innocents getting gunned down. I tend to punch first, and really, really hard now when it comes to the Anti-Supers who were responsible, Pilgrim.

What I played:
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/toonami/images/thumb/e/e4/Lobo.jpg/247px-Lobo.jpg

Explanation~
The GM started up a superhero campaign that pitted us against an alien threat. Standard Marvel type stuff, and the adventure started in Miami.

I created an interstellar bounty hunter who was hunting the invading aliens for the reward money. My character was indifferent to collateral damage done on Earth because she believed humans were pretty self-destructive anyway. It's not that I actively tried to hurt humans, my character simply felt that removing the deadly alien threat justified being overt about it if necessary.

Well, after I accidently detonated a meth lab and blew up two criminals with it, the GM flanderized my character quite a bit in his mind as a "All humans must die" kind of alien. Except as a cute little kitty only because the physical design of my alien was short (a little over 5 feet tall) and had a slight feline look.

So, if the GM just kept assuming I was going to wreck the planet to get my bounty, I might as well do it with some style, right? I got into the Lobo mindset and played my character accordingly. Not my original intention but I still had a lot of fun, especially with the alien cursing.

Explanation

I made a Surfer girl whose had a really good life, fun interesting, a bit bubbly, but she was kidnapped about a month ago.

Gm Saw the fact her hair is died and somehow thought tattoo's on her lips . So he was expecting party girl.

So far she's played more as a spunky but physically/emotionally distant girl.

*Wrote up a character for a horror system/game. She had been taken by the Doll Collector. Creepy monster that dresses up people as its own personal doll collection and she had escaped. The Doll Collectors makeup is permanent so her lips were forever a neon pink and her hair has bright neon pink streaks in it that would never fade.
Said Gm for this game is aware of this character for when I get the chance to play that system, so maybe thought I was just taking the character and transferring from Horror too the Slice-of-Life/Horror/Comedy campaign we are playing.

Explanation

So I basically made a D&D 3.5e Crusader based loosely on the Sisters Repentia from WH40k for a campaign where we're supposed to be infiltrating (and then obliterating) evil cults. DM thought this was a great concept; though I think he views her fanaticism in a slightly different fashion than I do.

Unfortunately I've had a devil of a time with her personality, so she's about as interesting as a brick. Very destructive and effective in combat... very boring outside of it. That said I have a plan to change that soon...

Because my spot/listen/sense motive was so low, he made me roll to see if I could tell if people in the same room as me were talking to me. Because I'm the evil son of wealthy nobles, naturally I'm greedy and highly classist, but that became a fixation my group had for my character, but I'd built a better backstory than that. At least, for low-tier lo-op, my Aristopally could still hit like a boss (giving him a niche in the party), until one of the players showed up with a multi-headed, multi-armed, multi-templeted god-slayer that had no business being in a lo-lo game, and got the character approved, which of course relegated my pally to comic relief. Explanation

So the character started out as a Half-Orc Alchemist who had run away from his tribe after being expected to become the next shaman. He was supposed to be highly intelligent and a little bit crazy, but the DM saw Half-Orc and assumed bruiser. He was surprised when my character's solution to everything was to lob bombs at it until there was nothing left. Especially since my character was (falsley) accused of Arson and Terrorism.

About halfway through the campaign we got a chance to redo our characters at a "much higher power level" (in reality, we'd passed from Pathfinder to Exalted about 3 sessions ago) and I reinvisioned my character as a Magus, specifically a dervish dancer (gestalted with Ninja). My DM saw "Half-Orc with a sword," and thought "Bruiser" again. But I turned out to be a leeetlee more crazy than I had been previously (also racial fast healing, because why the F*** not).

Explanation:
I made an Irish American associate of the Italian Mafia who kicks the most butt in the party. The party sees him as little more than a MurderHobo. Given recent events, I'm starting to play him as more of a devout monster slayer with the intent on possibly joining the clergy or at least the church's monster slaying faction.

The character is a soldier from the future in what amounts to a fancy magitech iron man suit (refluffed shardmind psion). He got launched into the past by a sudden time rift and shunted into a nexus crystal for 70 years, fusing him to his power suit. His whole gimmick at the start was that he had a tractor beam as his most basic ability, using the telekinesis powers of the psion class to do so.

Here's the long backstory if anyone feels like reading:
Julian Irvine, or Ian for short, was an soldier for Piltover in its future war with Zaun. He came from an long line of scientists, and was expected to follow his families legacy into the field of techmaturgy, but Ian never felt at home in the labs. When he was old enough, he applied to join the Explorer Corps, an organization for exploring the few unmapped places of Runeterra and scouting for the Piltover military. His family, knowing he would not change his decision, grudgingly accepted his planned, and armed him with an experimental pulsefire battle armor for defense. Ian used it to complete his assignments quickly efficiently, and over the years he worked his way up the ranks to eventually become the leading man for battlefield-testing experimental technology. As a highly-valued scientific asset, his assignments became less about fighting Zaun and more about exploring areas considered to be danger zones.

It was on one such assignment that disaster struck. He was sent off to the Southern Wastes to search for relics, bearing an upgraded pulsefire suit with a highly sophisticated, if experimental tractor beam. Ian was inspecting a ruin when a sudden flux of chaotic magic occured, rending time and space asunder and sending him backwards. The rift opened roughly 70 years before the present day, inside the shard of a nexus crystal in Kalamanda. The energies the rift clashed with the nexus fused his body with the armor and the crystal, and he laid dormant inside it until it was unearthed by a mining operation and shipped to the labs of Dr. Mundo. It was here where his prison was eventually destroyed, and he was freed from his stasis. Ian would have been in grave danger had he not been rescued by Keroth, one of Mundo's assistants, when he left the labs to make his own name for himself.

After Ian escaped Noxus, he had the chance to inspect himself, fascinated and terrified by the changes that the magic had wrought. His body was fused with the armor, which was now made of some sort of dark blue crystalline structure. His head is the only part of his body that could be considered "flesh," and even then, he is no longer made of flesh and blood, but something else that looks like it. He no longer needed to sleep, eat, or even breath, but he could if he wished to. The most profound change, however, was not in the body but in his mind. During the maelstrom of magic that flung him back in time, his mind had fused with that of the magitech AI running the armor, granting him increased intelligence as he subconsciously outsources some functions to the machine part of him. Because the intelligence had controlled the pulsefire systems, Ian is currently unable to access most of them, having only unlocked basic functions of the tractor beam as well as parts of his helmet console's abilities, such as headlights and a telepathic beamer allowing him to converse silently. In any case, as he practices, he continues to learn new things about his abilities.

Ian split up with the scientist and decided to forge his own path. For a long time, Ian toyed with the idea of trying to find a way back to the future, but he realized that any future he could return to would have been changed by his own involvement in the world, and so his new goal is simple: work for a better future, starting with thwarting the initial conflict between Zaun and Piltover.

Ian's current cover story is that he is an escaped Zaunite test subject, and claims to have been a homeless orphan when they took him. Keroth is the only man who knows the truth about Ian's pas-er-future.

Early on, I was the only person who had a general idea of what to do in situations, so my average Charisma character ended up becoming the de facto leader of the group, and also the party face.

And as it turned out, when we leveled up, there was an at-will power I could take that basically amounted to a fire blast. Cue becoming a walking, talking flamethrower, with my telekinesis stuff being reserved for crowd control and making sure bosses stayed off of the squishies.

http://i.imgur.com/g55fPc0.jpg

That scene in Star Trek 4 where Scotty gives future knowledge to the aluminum manufacturer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSmGjB-G6v8)

When it became apparent that I enjoyed the party face aspect, people were fine with letting me do a large amount of the talking in diplomacy situations. The only problem? No charisma modifier and I only had training in bluff. Each time we leveled up for a few levels, I used the retraining rules to switch some of my stuff to social skills, and I picked up a skill power that let me substitute Arcana for Diplomacy, Bluff, or Intimidate 1/encounter. Through faking good skills, good roleplaying, and coherent ideas, I've managed to do fairly well as the party face.

Ian has currently fostered a working relationship with Viktor by trading future cybernetics knowledge for protection, negotiated with several other people, and ended at least one encounter by giving the enemies a better offer than death. I think as of now, he's owed favors by four mercenaries (formerly five, but one of them was asked to do detective work for me) that I need to call in at some point, and is gradually making friends in high and low places as a result of him leveraging his knowledge with some Zaunite scientists.

I drew the first picture!

The first time I ever tried to join a Shadowrun campaign. The GM in question was letting people go with cat people, so I thought I would try to play as a hyenadude enforcer/bounty hunter. Over the course of the (somewhat short) campaign, he ended up more of the team's armorer and technician than an actual Runner, to the point that he would focus almost exclusively on min-maxing the team's gear and nagging random Johnsons on their concealed carry.

Old school Vampire: the Masquerade. The ST wanted us to start as normal humans and other than telling us it was V:tM and set in Brussles, didn't tell us squat about the setting or the plot. He just wanted to see what characters we made and let us squirm and scramble and try to survive to be worthy of Embracing. In case you didn't guess, the setting played the part of Sodom in the second picture while my character (and all the other PCs) played the part of the children - almost literally.
I ended up being Embraced by Lasombra antitribu in a stronghold of really damn powerful Camarilla, blood bonded two fellow PCs, fooled all players and PCs about my true powers and origins, though trying desperately to avoid all trouble became a bigger combat monster than the party's Gangrel or Brujah, and even took out a warrior auspice Mokole during daytime. With a killer ST.
All poor Nigel wanted was to be left alone.

M&M 2e. I basically played a somewhat psychopathic living cartoon, with a bunch of cartoon buddies that I could summon to help me. The first thing the DM noticed about the character was her cartoon bombs, which he promptly assumed were the focus of my character. In the end, large amounts of play time for me were trying (and failing) to escape from problems that I had caused.

What my character is turning into:
http://quizilla.teennick.com/user_images/P/PenguinFighter/1064893443_FolderLina.jpg

Explanation:
My husband is DMing a D&D campaign for me and a group of his friends, based off of 3.5, with a homebrew setting. The premise is 2000 years ago there was a near planet-breaking war to get rid of a race of demi-deities that enslaved pretty much every sentient on the planet. The survivors of the group that managed to genocide that race then split into two factions - one that wanted to pick up where that race left off and rule the world, and the ones that wanted to fix the damage that was done and stay hands-off, other than preventing more breakage from occurring. Since there was a 99% die off of the population during the war, and massive planar and temporal damage in places, the two factions called a sort of Cold War style truce until the world heals up enough that they can have it out without destroying the planet.

Since I'm married to him, when he started the campaign, I was asked to play an agent of the 'trying to fix the world' faction since it would be easier to fill me in on the amount of backstory that sort of character would know, and everyone else would find out more details as they came up in play. Also, the campaign was going to start with her deployed to travel through a known quiet region, practice her infiltration skills, and keep an eye out for trouble of the type that her faction would have to deal with, then meet up with the other players as we all get caught up in messes caused by the enemy faction. So, I created a mage with as many 'spy' spells as I could think of, or utility spells that could be used for combat like 'animate rope'. Ended up with 'acid splash' and 'disrupt undead' as her sole combat only spells.

However, as my handle might suggest, the DM was used to my mage characters in other games being fire-happy nuke machines, and was expecting more of the same. This led to us surviving some scrapes by the skin of our teeth, and the druid's player to insist that my mage needed to learn more combat spells the next chance we got. The cycle continued repeatedly for the first campaign arc - I think she only picked up one buff spell for the rest of that trip. A year and a half of real time later, this conversation happened:

Me: I didn't have enough skill points to learn Divination school spells too. Which of my schools would you want me to drop so I could cast See Invisible? I'm fairly sure we've been finding all the ones I do have useful.
Druid's Player: Evocation! Then we don't have to worry about getting set on fire!

She hasn't reached full blown Dragon Spooker status yet, but we just hit level 10 two sessions ago. At this rate, it's only a matter of time...

For the record, I never thought that of your character, and I got the impression that the GM was trying to make the gnomes in-universe get the idiot bat (admittedly they do as the setting is written) and yours would have eventually have proven the exception to everyone's expectations thanks to your bit if magic.
But yes, everything got the silly bat to some degree in that game, but that's what Spelljammer does. Except when my character got skewered, but he got better. After losing about five fights since the forum hates my rolls.

Commentary...
The original concept of my most recent D&D wizard was to be a younger version of Galdolf the Gray with a horse familiar. We'd be companions on an adventure with a group to provide wisdom and arcane buffing.

The DM of the game kept egging me to make my horse a pony instead and for the human to be a very young wizard, complete with a bunch of "My Little Pony" references on both sides so that the two characters were essentially the same thing.

In the end I created Sparks as an apprentice wizard with a very roguish style, while his familiar Freya was a brave little pony who wanted to be a heroic warhorse when she grew up. This was one of those times where the rework was much better than the original concept.

Explanation:
Natalia Bolts, AKA Nuts, is a rogue/swashbuckler/trapsmith who wants to be a wizard but was never trained. Nobody wanted her to learn magic because she has severe expressive dysphasia and can't even say a complete sentence without trailing off or using broken words or odd metaphors. She's obsessed with electricity, traps, and mechanical devices and has many, many different blueprints of devices in her bags. She's obsessed with touching things, probably because her synesthaesia manifests itself so she can feel colors. She's absolutely devoted to her friends because she had so few growing up. Really, this doesn't start to describe it. Natalia can be just plain strange.

Oh, and in battle when she's not scared out of her mind she's a dual-wielding, sneak attacking machine. And yes, she's small for a human and has max ranks in Tumble, so she's well trained in Waif Fu.

Essentially she started out as a cross between Wiress and Luna Lovegood, and is now a cross between Wiress and River Tam.

The character had a bit of a tragic backstory involving the death of his loved one that was supposed to make him crazy. Instead, the DM saw it as something that would inspire him to be a better person and humble him. And while I tried to play up the insanity of my character, I ended up no more evil and crazy than Doctor Horrible.

Explanation: Siege involving pirates led by an old, angry military baddy looking for revenge. The party is the only hope of defending the town of roughly 60 people from a combined force of over 200, including sahuagin and giants. Scenario was meant to play out until the cavalry could arrive from other coastal towns. Party ended up taking the fight to the general. In EPIC fashion.

Explanation
-I made a crazed psychotic his only power is he adds the powers of those he fights too his own. And he took interest in the party; wasn't going to kill them just was following them.
-Group saw a super-powered psycho whose Fae connection gave him green hair, and immediately saw anime(despite the fact one of them had purple spiky hair, and to be honest all of them were more anime in design)

Got tired of being the face of the party. Joined a Ravenloft Pathfinder campaign, and made a monk who swore at a Hag and was cursed to only speak gibberish Binary. Sent off to be schooled at a monk order- only made her a jerk with kung-fu skills. Her father couldn't arrange a marriage with anyone when she could talk, but when she couldn't scare people off anymore he got a big lummox for her and she ran away from home, wound up in Ravenloft, etc.

Got through meeting the party, acting snarky with only binary. DM sees only the monk with disease immunity coming to help the town, Paladins are praising her skill, she's kicking zombie butt and yelling "Scoreboard" only no one can understand it and thinks she's just really into helping people.

Tengu party-face convinces DM that "can choose any language as a bonus language" really does mean ANY language, and takes Binary after we save the first town. Only character in the world I can talk to makes him the center of every terrible thing I say. Every conversation I'm threatening the people we're talking to, wondering aloud how much stuff I could steal without people noticing, with only the Tengu able to hear and trying to keep a poker face through the whole thing

Built a Warblade for D&D 3.5 working from the concept "generic shonen fantasy protagonist." Greatsword, spiky hair, Power of Friendship, tragic backstory, calls his attacks, the whole shebang. The DM assumed that I was going to roleplay him in silly fashion and seemed eager to play along, but so far he's been more of a deadpan snarker with baggage and a heart of gold that occasionally shows through. I am trying to work in some character development to make him more hot-blooded, though, so we'll see how that goes.

Made a Longspear wielding Arcane Duelist with the Flagbearer feat. GM saw a less useful Bard lacking Bardic Knowledge and Versatile Performance. Due to her code of honour and tendency to be the first to charge into battle banner aloft, she's basically ended up being a cross between Battle Herald and Paladin, doling out the damage and buffing the rest of the party as well.

I made Ruuska Torrengust, a full Orc paladin, mostly because I wanted to and my crazy brain had already elaborately backstoried his unusual existence. Now I knew he'd be taking a hit to his INT but when I was told we were using POINT BUY -throws up- well... In order to make him an effective paladin I had to cut his INT to 5, which made him so very, very stupid, hence what the GM saw. However, it is this stupidity that is my greatest triumph, in a way. Ruuska is not only unable to pronounce "Paladin", "Sarenrae", or most other three syllable words, but is also unable to plan. He can't think out a plan, he can't understand planning. If he is informed of evil, he goes to thwart it. There is no stealth, there is no plan, there is no thought, there is only "STOP ALL EVIL!", hence the third image. Example: Technologically advanced Dwarves are trying to take over a medieval world and turn everyone into what is essentially cybermen. Well, Ruuska came across a lab with his party housing two gun-mechs and a cyborg Dwarf. After one-hitting both gun-mechs, he inspects the cyborg (which was currently deactivated, a touch sensor was to turn it on we found out) but, unable to understand or comprehend the concept of a cyborg, all Ruuska saw was a man riddled with metal and clearly hurt! So he picks up the dwarf and starts carrying him to town to get him help, as he activates, starts kicking and screaming, and failing checks to break loose. The wizard of the party cast Enlarge Person on Ruuska and convinced him to hold the poor guy down while he pulled a successful Knowledge Engineering to shut him down. This guy was supposed to be our BOSS FIGHT, and Ruuska simply carried him away. He might be dumb as rocks but I'll definitely be able to roleplay this guy into getting things done!

I unabashedly set out to recreate kerrigan with an Abyssal Exalt. Force of personality, psychic powers, a little bit vengeance crazy, hive mind with her undead underlings, and proficient with razor sharp bone weapons growing out of every limb (including some skeletal wing like limbs not present on the normal human body). I ran it by the ST, and he looked at her and saw psychic powers, crazy, and all about the blood sucking and assumed I was making Drusilla. I guess he missed the hive mind and razor limbs. So we did a little practice back and forth, and I wound up being Alucard. From the abridged series. Psychopathic manchild who conducts evil when he's bored because of lack of adventure time.

Not clear I'll get to really really play this character, but first time that I've been able to put together a What I Made, so what the heck. Good times.

My first 3.5 campaign, Ruins of Greyhawk. I built an halfling Eldritch Theurge, with the intent of playing him as a humorously psychotic little monster (and his blink dog Tugboat who he loved very much).
The DM looked at the sheet, saw halfling warlock as the base and immediately assumed he'd be played as some kind of easygoing rogue/spellcaster type who got gradually corrupted by the dark forces granting him power (to be fair, neither of us knew what the other players were making and the whole demon-centric subquest did become one of the high points of the campaign).
All of us being somewhat new and inexperienced, the table was shocked to discover that Hobb was, had I tried to, capable of soloing pretty much every planned encounter through his massive Intimidate checks, grab-bag of powers, and the fact that Warlocks really don't need any specific equipment in 3.5 so he was just carrying a ton of nifty magic items. To this day, that last image is pretty much how that DM sees warlocks in general.

I was playing a nerdy Asako loremaster who looked too deep, lost faith in the empire and ended up joining the Kolat in a big, political court game. My plans were to be some kind mousy diplomatic aide hanging around the backgrounds and advancing the Kolat where I could without screwing the Phoenix over and ruining things for others if I were discovered. However, to the GMs a highly capable social character showed up so I was made the official ambassador for the clan.

In the end I was not only a highly successful and persuasive politician, I also ended up practically the ideological leader of the entire Kolat and set the plans for how to overthrow the empire, while also getting great personal power. It was so much that I refused to even consider clans she was closely tied to for the sequel to avoid ending up shilling my previous character.

Background:
It's actually quite complicated. My character originally was supposed to be a pacificistic animal lover druid. Long story short, I didn't get to play the game the way i wanted to. So i chose to make my character become a neutral evil psychopath with racistic tendencies towards humans. (the reasons why got retroactively added to his backstory) Currently I'm trying to kill the Shane, the Leader of the Watch in Loremeadow because he much behaves like Hittler. Also I'm trying to aspire to local mafiaboss/warlord in Rockport, a nearby city. But my DM said I mustn't do that. Pathfinder isn't supposed to be a "Politics Simulator".

Actually it's both our first session. It's the first dnd game I played (and am still playing) and the first time he has ever DM'd a campaign. And considering me and my group of 5 PC's are killing or pissing off his NPC's all the time I can't really be angry with him. Also my party prefers actual adventures to game of thrones. Even though I already managed to persuade a friend to create our own "reek" in our next session. But if you got any good ideas or tips you can give to newbies, go ahead.

Game of thrones is a little too hard for DnD but a pure action game itself gets rather tedious as well. However, from what i understand about Golarion, if you are using it, is probably the worst setting for political intrigue there is.

If you have seen the show Vikings, that is about the proper ratio of Badass to Backstabbing for a DnD campaign.

note, average DnD, some people do prefer the Game of Thrones almost exclusively political game, while others prefer the purely combat game.

Well, Greyhawk is built around it
Eberron has a continent based on it
Faerun has a ton of well developed lands
Ravenloft is as much about political intrigue as it is about horror
Dragonlance is pretty bad but has very well defined factions
Athas has a framework for doing a decent political campaign, although its moreso just grimdark
Golarion is basically built to be blown up though.
Planescape is about political intrigue between gods
Spelljammer is also probably really bad at political intrigue, but moreso just because the setting is sorta a hybrid between original Star Trek and Starwars

This was my first D&D character ever. He was basically the Drizzt of Illithids, turned against the evil way of his people, yadda yadda yadda. Except he hadn't turned away from the manipulative side of the race (accidently optimised social aspect as well as being a telepath). So he was only meant to manipulate in the name of good.

What the others saw: They didn't actually know I was an Illithid, but they sorta clued on that I wasn't an really burnt half elf quite quickly, and that combined with the nearly gimp style clothing that covered every inch of his skin led them to believe I was some sort of creepy rapist.

What I played: First combat (which took quite a while since we started on a boat in which cannibals were picking off everyone but us slowly (got lots of brains from the half eaten corpses btw) I was like screw this, "You want to go for a swim." the cannibal proceeds to jump off the boat into the hurricane force storm going around us. The rest of my combat experience was me figuring out clever ways of wording the attraction and suggestions powers to take them out in one turn.

What the GM saw: What happened EVERY time what we were fighting had less than 3 INT. Ever.

I'm playing a cloistered cleric who was supposed to be going in to Crusader and then RKV, but that's gotten derailed a bit. Her backstory is that her family, fiance, and friends were trapped in a burning house just before her wedding. Then she became a cleric of Kelemvor and worked at a library. Which was also burned to the ground, possibly by the same assassin. Over the course of the game she's lost one of the only remaining people tying her to her pre-cloister life, ended up trying to murder a cleric of Loviatar in a burning barn she couldn't get out of without dooming her allies, and learned about binding (and she had to try to kill her teacher of such because the vestiges ended up controlling him completely).

And then the assassin sent her a note saying "Soon" and a couple weeks early, a present. The head of a gravekeeper she'd helped to stop a zombie infestation before coming to the city our sandbox is centered on. So she ended up puking, crying in a corner in hysterics, and only able to contact anyone because she had Malphas bound and was able to send the raven to another party member. And now she can't function (as in, has a panic attack and goes to hysterics) if she's not with a particular PC. And that PC (not the PC's player) isn't terribly happy because she has nefarious deeds of her own to plot (I'm not privy to them).

So yeah, she's going to be retired soon, hopefully after killing the sonofabitch and going into an insane asylum or something, though death would probably be welcome too.

I'd made a character of Indian origins, who had gotten plant powers. During character creation though, I also gave her a staff and a defensive combat style, expecting I'd get involved a lot in direct melee fight.
I also was very new to M&M, and thought my character was reasonably defensively oriented. AhahahahahahahahAHAHAHah.
(The GM has accepted to let me rebuild my sheet once the current fight is over. So to speak, What I Actually Made was not Aang, but a D&D monk.)
http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120813154146/batman/images/6/6c/Detective_Comics_Vol_2-14_Cover-1_Teaser.jpg
Everybody else noticed the plant powers and kind of overlooked the staff-fighting part. The power to ensnare enemies got particularly noticed, being my actual decent mean of defense.
http://psycheplays.com/art/sirantha/Sirantha_by_lexleggy-Gaia.png
The staff actually had an Array; it could deal Damage, or it could Heal.
Long story short, I never actually hit with it. I'm now more or less a healer with a flowery staff. There are two other PCs with healing powers, but I'm the best healer, and they're better fighters than I am, so...
(In that picture, ignore the part where the White Mage is a catgirl, please, it's entirely unrelated.)

(Think the Millenium Falcon with much more of a "Fixer Upper" vibe. Plenty of smuggling space, completely unnecessarily powerful weapon systems, but not a power supply big enough for the ship's needs. Gravity would turn off in Hyperspace, etc.) I got a hold of the Equipment guide, and especially the customization options for weapons. Had a weapon that could fire up to 1 KM with no range penalty, with a 16-20 crit range. Also had fun toys like a Stealth Suit, active Camouflage netting for myself and the ship, and oh yeah: the ship had a slave circuit and had a sniper's nest attached to the outside. Practical? From a 3.5 campaign a couple of years ago that I heavily reminisce upon...

http://oi61.tinypic.com/fxdx5z.jpg

I started out the adventure with what appeared to be a no-frills, half-elf druid. I was the only divine caster in the entire group, and so pretty much all of the healing (in-combat and out) fell upon me. I also had a lot of fun playing up the slightly kooky personality of a de-socialized yet wizened old nature nut.

As the campaign drudged on, it became more and more clear that it was going to culminate with a great battle against a horde of undead, so I hatched a perfectly in-character (read: a little insane) plan to fight them off. Our "headquarters" and main defensive site was a fortress in the middle of the desert, so I gradually made small petitions to the nature goddess to bring more water and plantlife to the area. Eventually the place was like an oasis. When the time came to make actual preparations for the undead scourge, I took up the mighty position of "citadel gardener", and while all the other party members dismissed me to perform actual military logistics, I was using both my own magic as well as prayer to fill the environment with all kinds of nasty botanical impediments to hold off the undead. When the battle finally came it turned out my plants actually did a majority of the fighting, and I even resorted to the age-old tactic of using a large shambling mound as an APC for my party so we could cruise straight to the commanding lich lord and take him out. From that day forward, my group has never underestimated the power of plantlife.

So it is Shadowrun.
I make a elf-changeling who was trained by an anti-corp group. Powerful adept with an incredibly high social die pools can even make people shoot themselves. So trained killer/assassin for this group and realizes one she dislikes anarchy and two she hates killing others especially innocents(despite being good at it).

Gm see's Pacifist and other things and see's a dainty corp-exec wannabe, who wants out of the Shadowrunner lifestyle too avoid hurting people
Grumpy angry spy who can't stand half the group, and still prefers non-lethal too lethal options but when actively harmed goes whelp I'm killing you now

What I Played
http://media.animevice.com/uploads/3/36080/737505-Misaka.Mikoto.full.994998.jpg

Explanation
The character is the daughter of anachronistic Prussian nobility who hold an ancestral style of saber-fencing, but wasn't in line for the style. In bitterness over being told to do stuff she objectively sucked at, such as proper academics and upper class propriety, while watching her older sister struggle with learning the style, she came to hate her parents greatly. This was only increased after her sister was grievously injured in a training accident because her mother was pushing her too hard. She also went to Japan shortly after this while fantasizing about taking revenge.

However, the thing that was immediately obvious and was central early on was her punk leanings, general delinquency and the fact that her unbalanced qi gave her a number of lupine features.

In the end, she has become a rather rule abiding "delinquent" who is close to the local law enforcement, doesn't really break any major rules and have pretty much set herself up to protect people from the darkness lurking in the city the game is set in. Along with superpowers to the point of being one of the strongest students in her year despite barely any training prior to arriving it becomes a pretty strong similarity. They also both have embarrassing tastes in a lot of things.

And like Misaka she takes people hurting her sister exceedingly serious.

She doesn't have any lightning powers, though.

From a currently ongoing campaign in which I am having possibly the most fun I've ever experienced in an RPG:
http://i.imgur.com/1cExwYT.jpg

For a Mutants and Masterminds game, I designed a character composed of a tyrannosaurus, with a symbiotic mind-controlling alien life form. He combines the dino's raw power with the symbiote's telepathy and mental skills, including a strong grasp of science and technology. He was originally designed to be the party scientist, without being fragile. However, he has become the frontline bruiser due to the setting, and the alien often has a dialogue (that only he can understand) with his host.

My DM however, instantly jumped to the Evangelion-style setup. And as a result, we're jokingly discussing adding tech upgrades to make him more formidable.

My god, man, this demands further explanation! I'm especially curious how and why you ended up with what seems to be an inventory full of rocks. A lot of these posts are truly fantastic, by the way.

In GURPS, the standard mage learns spells more-or-less wizard style, except that most spells have prerequisites. You must know Shape Fire before you can learn Fireball for example. The result was that that particular guy only knew about 10 useful spells, 9 of which were situational, and 1 of which was Shape Earth. He basically followed the party around placing impromptu fortifications whenever the going got tough, thus I ended up playing an inventory of cobblestone blocks.

Ritual mages, instead of having one skill per spell, have one skill per school, and essentially know all spells in the game. Your effective skill with a spell is your school skill minus the number of prerequisites that spell has. This means you end up casting spells like Transmogrification at skill -38, but the first character still ended up functioning more-or-less like the party's personal demigod.

The second character was all about slow-casting flexible effects. He was also an herbalist on the side. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that it took him too long to cast spells, so he was only brought along if a particular spell absolutely had to be cast on-site. Otherwise, the most effective use of his time was to stay at home brewing what amounted to potions of Righteous Might.

Due to your choice of pictures I now imagine Schmendrick actually becoming Kruphix.
It even makes sense. His ability breaks the general pool emptying rule.

Star Wars D6 game. This is about as accurate as I can get, though the "What I Made" isn't as accurate as it could be:

http://i62.tinypic.com/5uiwqe.png

So the game took place like a year or two before A New Hope. Given the timeline, I had opted to play a Clone War vet that was now gunning for the Empire due to them killing his wife and Daughter (A Twi'Lek and half Twi'Lek). He was supposed to use explosives and missile weapons instead of blasters and whatnot.

The players however say my character as a crazy old man (He was 42 for crying out loud) loaded for bear with dangerous explosive weapons. At best, the players saw my guy as little more than bait.

In the end, I played a...more or less team player (despite being backstabbed at least twice by the party, though I couldn't prove it IC) that insisted on using explosive weapons.

Yay, someone necro'ed this thread so I don't have to make a new one (it was only two weeks dead, but still)!:smalltongue:

I made these two a few weeks ago with respect to one of the D&D 3.5 campaigns I'm currently in:

http://i59.tinypic.com/nmdt0n.png

Logan Pathwalker, a Half-Elf Ranger (using Elf traits due to the character's Elven upbringing) modeled directly on Aragorn, though the two were already fairly diverged by the time I joined the campaign. The DM had long before that point took to screwing with him (and the player thereof by proxy) as often and creatively as possible, probably on account of the two of them having gone out for a time and as such liking to mess with each other in general (good-naturedly, they're still on good terms). In part directly due to being the universe's apparent chew toy, Logan's current personality can be best summed up as "cranky old man with a heart of gold." While extremely irritable and prone to putting on airs of wanting to be anywhere but his present location, deep down he's very much the adventuring type and would be loath to just up and leave his current companions.

Amusingly, the same player has since joined the other campaign I'm in with an older-yet-lower-level version of Logan (justified via Plane of Shadow shenanigans) to nearly identical results. Turns out that curmudgeonly characters are just natural magnets for DM screwery.:smalltongue:
http://i57.tinypic.com/2iszgop.png

Given that I was joining an existing group, I figured it was the perfect time to build my first Bard. Enter Ozpin Dracarys, teller of tales and interplanar heartthrob (as he often describes himself). As laid-back as he is suave, Ozpin was designed to be the perfect team player. Not that he minds being the center of attention when given the opportunity, and he's had plenty of opportunity given the fact that the DM took one look at my Perform modifier and thought "rock star." Which he pretty much is (just replace "rock" with "poetry"), but more importantly to the campaign he's also the sole reason the party actually gets anything done. Turns out that the combination of Dragonfire Inspiration, massive social skill bonuses, UMD, and being the only player in the group with a head for planning will do that.:smallwink:

So I started by making a halfling Titan Mauler barbarian, half just for the lulz of playing a hammer-wielding character with a weapon bigger than he is, half to play a downright nutty-fubar version of BOLPHUNGA THE UNRELENTING, always itching for a fight and BRIAN BLESSED'ing everything he says. The GM basically assumed he was going to be an ******* and sorta evil, like Belkar - fitting in quite well with the war-weary 'good but jaded' party. Instead, he started to be the most good member of the party, saving folks.. and started to insist for every battle that the Cleric give him fly. And he got boots that made the ground explode if he landed from enough of a height. And soon he's going to be robo-cop'd into an Air Elemental Bloodrager.

http://thabto.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/senate_chamber-main_arena04.jpg
I conquered a planet and they thanked me for it. For a safe and secure planet... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo4cFViNLes)
It really doesn't help I can defeat pretty much any of my fellow players (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7hBZNsPnyg) if in combat if I ever needed to. Soon I will be able to kill them all on my own if my plans come through. It also helps I'm the highest XP person there. The only one to survive since the beginning of the campaign.

Okay a Rogue Trader is granted the right and the only right to rade with Xenos and is way above the law for most ordinary citizens of the Imperium. However that doesn't mean I am above the law. Despite this the law means little to me.

Things I did.
- Stopped an Ork invasion fleet of over 200-300 ships with just 12 and 20 ships without warp drive.
- Almost single handedly killed a demon. Bastard got away before I could finish teh job. It took an ork warboss itself to scare me off as it and the demon fought.
- Before ork invasion hit planet invested in its infrastructure to a supreme degree. I basically gave people jobs. I build up morale all over the planet despite us being out numbered even by 40k standards. I also learn of a plot by a general to assassinate the planetary governor and he wanted to take his spot.
- With some "reservations" and what he thinks amounts to black mail and coercion (lol) I "grudgingly" decide to help him. I never intended to let him get the power. I wanted it, but didn't need to tell the GM that. Only my fellow aid and schemer in copilot a sneaky and brutal senechal.
- I order my fellow players to fortify the planet. Crazy player intimidates the entire criminal cartel network and ever criminal in the streets and in jail into a penal legion. I got the adeptus arbities police to work with us. Even had my techpriest fortify special areas and convince the forge nearby to give us Skitarri super mech troops basically. I roused the masses with speeches, parades, and assurances I was going to save the planet. At this point the imperial governor was loving me for giving him his courage back. The general who wanted the coup and GM playing him had his first doubts as to what the hell I was doing. Still I tell the general the plan. Not the real plan. Though I was improving sing and knew I would have to once orks reached planetside.
- I shook hands, kissed babies, kissed hands, and shook babies. Ha Ha.... charismatic. And they loved me for it.
- Made an alliance between Rogue Traders and told them I would lead the battle. On top of that
- Flattered an Eldar and managed to actually get one talking. As much as any human can. Heh. That was really handy. I let the Eldar live. They could be useful later.
- I'm scary enough to walk into a Dark Eldar corsair vessel and barter with them for Khymera deamons to use as shock troops. Only after great insistence they were not okay with this did I relent for my crews sake. Next time I'm having them go in at gun point.
- My GM said it would be nearly impossible for me to get master crafted power armor. A relic form a bygone age. I got it in one roll, and sold off a lot of our holdings with it. So I'm pimped to high heaven. Master crafted bolt pistol, plasma pistol, power sword, and anything I need now.
- Scared an Inquisitor. Who I will murder one of these days. She caught us with our shields down and our ship damaged. We had a shipment of advanced tau tech we were appropriating for ourselves.
- Day before wagh Imperial commander for a cruiser shows up. He is like all of the imperial navy ships need to leave. I know this is not going to happen even if I have to kill him. However with the promise that I have a plan to save this system. If he defies orders and saves a plent with my help I will attest to his skill in battle to the Navy and help him get a promotion. Also the fame of defeating a ork Waaagh against such odds would basically guarantee him pimp for life. Like all people he falls to his temptations too easy. So now I have a freaking Imperial Cruiser who isn't supposed to be here. GM is impressed.
- Come the day of the waghhh the GM was sad when I was so skilled at commanding the fleet I shot the ork one to bits suffering minimal damage. Of their 7 roks carrying the bulk of their invasion force only 3 landed on the planet. I personally shot one to pieces before its planetary sized shield came online. Fought off the next wave of ork ships and now suffered minimal casualties. Oh I'm only commanding a Frigate. And our largest ship is a cruiser basically so we are outgunned too.
- During the whole scheming phase I got in good with the Imperial Creed and the old man of the planet who wants me to take a bonifide relic. If we lose the planet he wants me to keep it safe and return it. I had no intention of doing that if we lost. I secretly told my crew it was collateral if this went south. During the battle went and brought it on my ship.
As the ork invasion reached it peak I bombarded and destroyed another Rok it took 12 hours of bombardment from my ship. Now the ork invssion force is really getting messed up.
They knew this as they massed for one final grand assault on the capital. They knew if they took me and my men down it would collapse the Imperial lines.
- I return to the planet to personally oversee the final phase of the take over the planet plan, and ensure things went according to plan. I leave command of the fleet to my psyker in orbit.
- I reach the planet and inform the general we have a "problem" at the Imperial palace and we need his presence there. The governor (the foolish idiot man child could never do this) was growing a spine and found out about the plot. We needed to take him down now and I would help him. My GM is like. What are you doing? My players are like. He is an idiot goign to get us all killed. He is taking general off the front line and its goign to collapse morale. The orks sent a huge war macheina at us. Not titan sized but close. Big enough to smash the city.
- I tell my crew ot lead a daring raid in the last of the cities valkeries and with out shuttle. They think I'm nuts, but my most loyal player other than the senechal agrees. Now the PDF is on its own with no support from PC's. This is the most dangerous time of the game. And we came close to losing.
- Techpriest has to head to the forge to secure it form a commando attack. He is taken out but not killed. I send two player to go and get him. Splitting our attention up across the city. So me and Senechal are going to palace. Two players are going to save tech and he is down. Tech plays two characters and is also the psyker in space. The other 4 are on a crazy assault mission on the ork vehicle with storm trooper support.
- I tell my Senechal to meet me in the compound. This is where I start improving.
- I tell the general I will cover the doors while he does the deed. And tell the palace planetary defense force that the Governor was trying to sabotage the battle by changing his plans.
- I tell the guardsmen nothing. Just to leave and check outside for a suspected attack.
- There are guards posted outside the door. Palace guards loyal to the Governor. I need to handle them. So I persuade and bribe them to go away for a short time.
- My senechal has tech training since we don't want to rely on our techpriest for everything. He jams all communications in the palace.
- We then meet up by the palace doors. He has his boltgun. I got my pistols and in master crafted power armor against a pathetic human general and his retinue in flak and some carapace.
- I open the door and eh is startled. The GM is like what are you doing? And in character the general is like "I got him just in time, but where was his soldiers who were going to kill me? Help me get rid of the body and..." I cut across the GM. "I open fire on the general". He does a double take at me, then a triple. His mouth hangs open. "What?" I said it again. Then he says "Ohhhh..... oh no. I understand now..." Then I say it's our surprise round.
- In the surprise round I blow away the general in the throne room where he murdered the governor. I kill him personally. I kill another of his retinue. My Senehcal kills one with his bolter. We also won initiative and just kept firing. In the span of 10 seconds the 5 of them are dead.
- I cut myself, and shoot myself in a minor way with their guns. No real damage. My senechal too. I tell the guards who come running that I was too late to save the governor from the coup I learned of, and that we have to mourn him.
- The guards I persuade dot leave come back first. I have them arrested on suspicion as others show up.
- At this point I knew how predictable the orks would be. I knew an attack was imminent on the palace to kill to governor. So I had my senechal prepare. Soon enough they arrive and destroy the command post before we can reach it. I take the guards I imprisoned and I said I need his help. He will be pardoned and we will get to the bottom of this. My gm is surprised I would let the only two people who are witnesses out. He thought I would kill them.
- I send them in to attack the orks first.... at this point they get shot to ribbons. Then me and my senechal solo the orks. I tell him to get the command post online.
- I tell the city I stopped a coup and an ork attack on the palace at the same time. THe governor has fallen, but I am not in direct command of all forces on the planet because of the emrgency. The command bunker survivors are uneasy, but soon they feel mor einspired by me than any crap tier officers who had been working here. My senechal fixes the damaged equipment the orks tried to wreck. It takes me only a short time to get commands to all the fornt lines and organize the cities defenses. I tell them I'm personally coming to save them. This restores morale, but it is tenuous in these crazy time.
- My friends are all like. Holy ****. WTF WTF!!! Are you doing? Me and the Senechal have **** eating grins because we're going to conquer a planet and get away with it. The only other player to approve is the one who lead the attack on the ork war machine. The others think I'm crazy and going to get caught. By this point thye have it under control and almost died twice, but make it back.
- We zip over in our transport to the other side of the city and save the rescue group from certain death.
- Now in space the largest and last wave of orks show up. With THE warboss. THe planetisde orks are in full retreat.
- I use the planetary space fortress to good effect and destroy the orks vessels ad pursue them to the edge of the system into a dangerous asteroid belt.
- Ork war boss challenges me to invade his ship and fight him one on one. His vessel is disabled and he is adrift. GM: "Okay I'll prepair for landing on his ship and..." I cut him off "All ships open fire Broadside on my command! FIRE!" GM just looks at me with mouth hanging open again.
- Orks biggest ship and their great warboss is blown to smithereens most unceremoniously. And so there went the boss encounter. And the plot details I needed apparently.
- Small Chaos cutter ship escapes the attack and we chase it, but it vanishes. We know there is something bigger going on.
- Yadda yadda yadda.
- I'm named lord governor of the planet. As well as supreme leader of its military forces. I will faithfully uphold any tithes to the Imperium. The Imperial Navy says I was a wreck less fool who could have lost everything, but instead am a damned hero. Cruiser captain gets his fame, renown, bitches, and money no doubt since the GM said he left super happy and will always put in a good word for me with them.
- The planet is indebted to me and I am a hero.
- Feeling the need to not be a douche and have a card up my sleeve for later. I return the relic I was given to the temple and they are all like. Your the best and most honourable person we know. -
- Lord Governor Sawyer day is declared a national holiday for saving them from the orks.
- Me and my crew refit, rest, regroup, and prepare for out next adventure.
- GM at the end of this months long campaign "You are one Machiavellian person." I'm pretty sure he wanted to say bastard (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MagnificentBastard) but he owns the store and it would look bad.
- I leave the store to glowing praise and everyone still pesters the GM to this day to continue it. :P

Rogue Trader Sawyer's plans don't end there. I have grand plans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhkr3TFkHPo) if we ever play again. Hahaha. All my fellow players think it was one of the most bossk things anyone did in a game. When these players first met me they described me as C3P0 if I was a star wars character. That has since changed.

Would I make a great villain for a bunch of PC's or what? Hahaha (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sObyG9bTf5A).

P.S
During all of those adventures and ones I haven't spoken of. I didn't gain any corruption or insanity. I have a beastly willpower. I made it my best one. Always. I just made rank 4 where as they are mid rank 2 and only two rank 3's.

What I got out of your first story was "I started off Aragorn, but then I became Bilbo Baggins"

*Logan's player here*

Basically. If anything, he's a blend of Carl Fredrickson and Bilbo, in a sense. While he's a steadfast companion and friend to everyone in the party, he's not unsure of himself or questioning himself at every step of the journey like Bilbo. Instead, he's more like Carl in being a grumpy old man who pulls off some awesome badassery when the situation calls for it.

Like, for instance, PWNing the crap out of a trap-spawned Fiendish Megaraptor with a single full-attack.

It was a fun little session of mutants and masterminds. I wanted to play an ice mutant, expecting this to be a standard M&M sessions where we're the heroes, bagging the bad guys. It was a bit of a mix of expectations, as the rest wanted to play more mercenary guys in a world that is full of all sorts of heroes and villains. I ended up being a bit of a team mascot, since my character was very much good at heart, but I changed her motivation from altruism to wanting to prove that she's the strongest... in the team she might as well be too, due to the large amounts of AP you can throw onto Cold Control.

What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I played...
http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/digoraccoon/426506/42454/42454_original.jpg

Context
I joined up in a Fallout game with the premise that we're strangers who meet up after a major battle and decide to try and build a little town to help the displaced survivors. My original concept was taken from the movie The Postman-- a wanderer who passes himself off as a mail carrier that travels across the wastes. The GM was fiddling with some Min/Maxing for our characters' benefit and my postman started looking like something in between Mad Max and Judge Dredd.

After I got the character back, I changed a few things further, and settled on being The Man with No Name. Still a wanderer, but a gunslinger for hire who joins up for (mostly) altruistic reasons.

All those crits did was determine the degree to which I utterly destroyed that Megaraptor.

I registered just so I can contribute to this awesome thread!

Thanks everyone that shared their stories, so after reading the whole thread back to back, here's my tale:

http://i.imgur.com/Zy9OXqA.jpg?1

Well, I created a campaign rife with political intrigue, lots of quirky characters on all sides of the conflict. But I am usually somewhat lighthearted in humor. However, I let the dice fall were they may, and my world is low magic, so maiming and mutilation are somewhat common odds for leading an adventurer's life and death is, in almost all cases, permanent.

So what did the players made out of that? Valar morghulis.

They were super cautious with their actions and alligeances, always on the look out for shady attitudes on the NPCs and generally not fully commiting to trusting any one side of the conflict.

Luckily, the campaign was an outstanding succes, it ended up with a far darker tone that I would have liked, but the players really sunk in the intrigue and became the movers and shackers I meanted the party to be, eventually ending with a satisfactory finish, and fondly remembering that two year campaign as one of our greatest adventures as a gaming group.
