View Full Version : Build Ideas for Frontlines Buffer?

So, I've been working on this build concept for my friend. So far, we have Fighter 1/SotAO Mystic Ranger 6/War Weaver 5/... Abjurant Champion, maybe?
SotAO gets us War Weaver, my DM confirmed it.
Anyway, Fighter's still up in the air(we wanted armor proficiency quickly, and the bonus feat can't hurt).

We figure the healing from Ranger combined with the other buffs from Wizard would make a decent buffer, and the (near) full BAB would keep him relevant on the front lines. And we won't notice any lack of Mass Cure spells, because his spells (with War Weaver) are basically already Massed.

Any suggestions, tweaks, feats?

Drop the level of Fighter. It's just not worth it for that kind of build. Mystic Ranger 6/ War Weaver 5/ Swiftblade or Crusader 9 might work. War Weaver (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=5881.0) is okay for the most part unless you're really trying to trick it out in which case Mystic Ranger won't cut it.

Another option would be to go with a Bard. Bards can be great buffers, decent healers, and reasonable combatants.
Bard Handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=8284)
Inspire Courage Optimization Handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=9830.0)

Bard 8/ Paladin of Freedom 2/ Sublime Chord 2/ Abjurant Champion 5/ Sacred Exorcist 3 - Bard based gish with 9th level spells and can hold its own in combat

Bard 8/ Virtuoso 2/ Sublime Chord 2/ Virtuoso 8 - with Dragonfire Inspiration this becomes a very nice party buffer and caster

Bard 8/ War Weaver 2/ Sublime Chord 2/ War Weaver 3/ Abjurant Champion 5 - Bard based buffing, 9th level spells, and War Weaver goodies.

Is Cleric too obvious?
Because seriously, with a bit of metamagic abuse, it's about as good as it gets.
