What races with LA +0-2 have more than 30 feet of base land movement?

A awakened cheetah? Wait no, that'll probably be a higher ecl than what you want.

What is awakened? I've seen it mentioned a lot, but I've never looked into it.

First thing that comes to mind isn't a race but a template.

Shadow template increases base speed by 1.5, so a race with 30 move speed will go up to 45. You also would get some other goodies as well.

Catfolk from RotW have higher than normal movespeed for LA +1. Xephs can boost theirs by up to 30ft 3/day and are LA 0. Thri-Kreen have a 40ft speed.

That's pretty cool. If I had room for another level, this on a catfolk or something would be great.

Gray orcs (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20030301a) are +1 LA and have 40 ft move speed.

An awakened animal had the Awaken spell cast on it by a druid. It changes it's type to Magical Beast (Augmented Animal) and increases their mental stats and hit dice. Trees can also be awakened, but I can't remember the details at the moment.

Not what you're asking for, but my most recent favourite speed enhancer:

- the Quick trait [UA]. Grants 10ft. bonus to movement at the cost of hp.

Stack it on a Barbarian, and 50ft. movement is yours.

Isn't there an Incarnate race that allows you to invest Essentia to increase base speed?

Can't recall If I'm remembering correctly.

Dusklings, IIRC. *checks book* Yup, I do. Page 10 of MoI. +5 ft of move speed per invested Essentia, with some restrictions. LA +0 fey.

Not to derail the Thread...

..but whats the fastest you can get a character to move per round....

counting only Races, Class, Feats and Magical Items.

What does that criteria not include? :smallconfused:

Anyway, here's Chuck (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?PHPSESSID=cjp5kfok60st5qcf07vo31qm83&topic=5788.0). If you meant something other than what you said and Chuck doesn't qualify for your conditions, he's still probably the fastest without whatever the offending part of it is.

Any paragon gets triple speed. Shadow template gives 1.5 speed boost. Quick trait gives +10. Barbarian get +10. Monk and battle dancer get increased speed as you level. Awakened cheetah has 50(might be wrong, afb.)

So, with the paragon, barbarian 1, shadow template, and quick trait, you'd get 50+10+10=70. 70x1.5 is 105. 105x3 is 315. Cheetah sprint, 315x10 is 3150. In a single round.

Now this is with no magic items or anything. Getting an awakened shadow paragon cheetah with 1 level of barbarian would be quite a hassle to do, do to LA and CR bumps.

I'd like to add to this whole discussion that in-game, how far one can move is often less important than what one can do when one gets there. Therefore, I submit that, even for a character built around the concept of speed, it is still better to take spirit lion totem barbarian for pounce at level one, rather than a measly +10 movement speed (which you could also just get from a level of scout).
