View Full Version : Druid Illusions

So, I'm almost finished making my ability damage-focused wiz/druid/mystic theurge for a PbP game, and I noticed something that I've never really noticed before. Looking through the druid spell list on the SRD, I don't think there is a single illusion spell on there!

Now, obviously druids aren't known for illusions. They're the kings of transmutation, evocation, and weakening necromancy, with some backup conjuration (healing) and some serious conjuration (summoning). But still! Not one illusion spell? That seems...ridiculous. A whole school of magic that nature just can't use?

Does anyone out there know of any druid illusion spells? I don't plan on using them, I'm just curious. (It only really occurred to me because I'm a gnome, and I banned illusion as a wizard so I wasn't going to even bother recording the +1 DC to illusions on my racial features thing, and then I wondered if I had any decent druid illusions to use)

There doesn't seem to be any core druid illusions though.

... I think it's time for some more homebrewing, Neo. :smallwink:

...I've never even heard of "Defenders of the Faith" before. But wow, the number of druid spells in existence can be counted on both hands, huh?

Ah, you know me too well my friend.

So no core illusions, hmmm?...wow. That's just strange, to me.

To start off a list of possible homebrew type spells (Big fan of Druids, so why not give them more to work with, :P) Illusions based on heat and moisture? Certainly seems like something someone able to control the elements could do.

I believe it's a 3.0 sourcebook, similar to Tome & Blood, Sword & Fist, Masters of the Wild etc. Some of its material was updated and inserted into the Completes, including Complete Divine. (I couldn't tell you exactly what, though.)

Defenders of the Faith is indeed in the same line as those other 3.0 sourcebooks. They're rather...quaint, compared to the Completes and Races, etc., but fun even so. They were still available in Wizards stores when 3.5 first came out, back when Wizards had actual stores.

Defenders has early versions of PrCs like Hospitaler, Consecrated Harrier, Contemplative, Divine Oracle, etc. Also some fun druid spells. Definitely good times.

In my first campaign the BBEG was a pixie druid. They get Permanent Image. That helped a bit for him (he was maquerading as a giant).
But yeah, no core druid illusion spells.
