Hi,

Is anyone aware of any rules on a PC converting or redeeming an evil magic item to the side of good?

Or the Reverse...

Corrupting a Good Magic item to the side of evil.

A good example would be say an Antipaladin or Blackguard kills a Paladin and claims his Holy Avenger as his own, corrupting the blade into an Unholy Avenger some how.

Thanks!!

I am pretty sure I read rules for this somewhere, likely the BoED and BoVD.

I knew I had read it somewhere as well.

I had no luck with Vile Darkness, but after checking Exalted Deeds, it appears to be there!

Weird how its in one book, but not the other.

Tangentially related at best, but all of those alignment-locked items that give you a negative level if you wield them have a 'simple' bypass in Pathfinder: Dhampir take none of the penalties of negative levels up until they're killed by them, and shake off the levels in 24 hours without needing to save. A Dhampir can juggle an Unholy, Holy, Axiomatic, and Anarchic weapon without any proplems.

Weird how its in one book, but not the other.

Those books, despite their diametrically opposed subject matters, are in different editions - generally, asymmetries between them are due to that fact.
