It took me long enough, but I have found the original artist. In case anyone else might be interested, go here:

or here:

I had hoped she was some kind of character in literary fiction, so I'm disappointed that I can't read about how she got to that level of BAMFness, but at least now, I can give credit where it's due. The rest of his art is amazing as well, though a bit on the creepy/disturbing side... even more than the violinist, I mean.

That is a pretty nice picture. It looks interesting and has a story in and of ltself.

I must admit I was expecting a different, "That Bard" picture. Here's the one I'm referencing:

Lol... soooo lol.

It's a good shop, too. What do you suppose one would sing about in that situation?

This is what I'm hearing in my head:
"Sunday, Monday, Happy Days.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days.
Thursday, Friday, Happy Days.
The weekend comes,
My cycle hums,
Ready to race to you.

These days are all,
Happy and Free. (Those Happy Days)
These days are all,
Share them with me. (oh baby)
Goodbye grey sky, hello blue.
There's nothing can hold me when I hold you.
Feels so right, it can't be wrong.
Rockin' and rollin' all week long."

I was thinking that too, but leaning more towards Shakespeare.

From the title I assumed it was going to be about this bard:

That's who I thought first.
And not because just I threw away my broken copy.

Huh I was expecting Frederik KT Anderssons bard. Some of the pictures he draws are slightly not safe for work so google with caution but oh so good for character pictures in tabletop games.

I admit I thought Shakespeare first, but that bard, oh that bard.

I should've been more specific, I guess. But I never really got into Shakespeare, to be honest, so he didn't come to mind. IMHO, he was the mass-producing low-brow, drivel-maker of his day, who through volume sales became the legend he now is. But before anyone gets too upset about this bare in mind. I'm also no real fan of:

1. The Beatles
2. Stephen King
3. Edgar Allen Poe
4. MacDonald's
5. 90% of all pop music out there.

They come across, to me, as predictable and... for lack of a better word, flavorless; so my opinions about what is entertaining can't necessarily be trusted. Numbers don't lie though, and I'm outvoted on all those opinions, but I feel somewhat exonerated in the knowledge that we are all entitled to our own opinions.

And of course, all that said, everyone on that list, especially Shakespeare, made a bigger impact on the world in their lives than I have in mine. So, in the interest of contrite self-effacement, I'm also willing to say that whatever judgement I place on him, I have to put an equal standard, and therefore judgement, upon myself. So please, no one get riled up just because I'm a weirdo who can't like normal things. :smalleek:

Actually, I didn't know the one. At first glance, I thought this thread would be about Elan. Still, a nice picture.

And while were discussing nice works of art, anyone have a link to that one Legend of Zelda image with all the characters on it?

I thought it was going to be a thread about a guy who roleplays a bard and insists on singing all of his songs when he uses Bardic Music.

I was hoping it would be about Fancy the bard. But then, i guess im just too darn old school to expect others to get the reference. /cry

At least give him a little credit for inventing quite a lot of the english language.

That picture, I have it saved on my pc as "Lucifer's Bride". I have no idea why. Is that its name? I've also had a few of his other pictures without knowing it. Pretty good.

How much Shakespeare have you seen/read, out of curiosity?

He and the Beatles are vastly different in levels of flavor.

A fair deal, actually... with all the English/Literature classes I've taken. And I wasn't so much comparing The Beatles with Shakespeare in regards to poetic style, so much as degree of popularity. Everything on my list was overwhelmingly popular--so much so that they defy preference. Which means, they all fit into that if-you-don't-like-them-you're-wrong category. Everyone on the list I put up has proven their acceptability amongst the masses and through the generations. People don't even have to listen to The Beatles or read Shakespeare to call themselves fans, or at least appreciators of their artistic contributions anymore, because it's default to think they are great. I, however, prefer different things.

Feytalist

I wouldn't put Stephen King (or Poe, for that matter) quite on the same level as Shakespeare, but I get your point.

I've always known I had somewhat different tastes compared to most other people out there. Makes for interesting conversation, at least.

Well with works such as Shakespeare's regardless of whether you enjoy them its hard not to concede them a certain amount of appreciation for the way they have shaped our culture, language, and narrative traditions. Same with the Beatles in music.

That said I have no idea why you put McDonalds there, all it standardized was places any healthy person should never want to eat at. Not nearly as universally valued.
