My fiance and I are trying to come up with some new CD's for the car. We both love Disney movies and music (who doesn't?) and are trying to make some CD's of our favorite music. To that end we're trying to come up with a few playlists, but with some consistency. Most Disney CD's we've found jump from uplifting song to villain song to sad song to romantic song back to the beginning and it's a real mood whiplash. It's really annoying when you're done singing along to something catchy and something really sad comes on.

We've come up with three categories for songs, and each one will be a different CD. We're currently trying to come up with good picks for each list and then arrange the playlist accordingly.

Villain Songs

Be Prepared - The Lion King
Oogie Boogie Song - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Why Me? - Aladdin (Deleted villain song for Jafar)
You're Only Second Rate - The Return of Jafar
Welcome to the Forty Thieves - Aladdin and the King of Thieves
In or Out - Aladdin and the King of Thieves
I've Got Friends on the Other Side - The Princess and the Frog
In the Dark of the Night - Anastasia (Oh you know it counts!)
Gaston - Beauty and the Beast
The Mob Song - Beauty and the Beast
Le Poison - The Little Mermaid
Cruella DeVille - 101 Dalmations
Mine, Mine, Mine - Pocahontas
Hellfire - The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Figured this would be a good finale for the CD)

Note: Purposely left out Poor Unfortunate Souls because my fiance personally hates it, and I could take or leave it.

Romantic Songs

A Whole New World - Aladdin
Once Upon a Dream - Sleeping Beauty
Can You Feel the Love Tonight? - The Lion King
Beauty and the Beast - (Guess.)
I Won't Say I'm in Love - Hercules
Kiss the Girl - The Little Mermaid

The third category I have trouble giving a specific name other than just the Hell Yeah! genre. Those catchy songs that you love to listen and sing along to.

Under the Sea - The Little Mermaid
Can't Wait to be King - The Lion King
Be Our Guest - Beauty and the Beast
I'll Make a Man Out of You - Mulan
This is Halloween - The Nightmare Before Christmas
What's This - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Hell, pretty much the entire Nightmare Before Christmas could fit here.
Portobello Road - Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Three Caballeros
One Step - Aladdin
Friend Like Me - Aladdin

Looking for suggestions on other possible picks and maybe the best way to arrange these on the CD's when we get to burning.

I'm also looking for slower, more "diginified" (if that's the right word) versions of songs like A Whole New World and Once Upon a Dream that we can play at our wedding and hopefully slow-dance to.

For your Hell yeah I recommend Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Honour to us all (Mulan), Circle of life, Hakuna Matata and Reflection (Mulan). I also recommend music from the Jungle book (Bear nesscessities, wanna be like you) and the Aristocats (The aristocats and Everybody wants to be a cat).

For villain songs put in the siamese cats song from lady and the tramp, Mother Knows best (Tangled), My lulaby (Lion King 2), Yodel adle eedle idle odel (home on the range) and of course the Prince Ali reprise (aladdin). I would recommend dropping cruella de vil (villain sucks song). I also remind you that the songs from the aladdin sequels cannot be found on itunes. It is also hard to separate hellfire from the mediocre heaven's light.

When I think of more tunes, I'll put them up.

For the Romantic Songs disc:

Tangled - I See The Light
Enchanted - That's How You Know

For the Awesome disc:

Aladdin - Prince Ali (I kind of love all the songs from Aladdin)
Lilo and Stitch - Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride

All good suggestions:

Belle - Very good one that I'll probably fit in there.

Honor to us All - I knew there were some great Mulan songs I was forgetting.

Circle of Life is good, but Hakuna Matata always bugged me for some reason.

Reflection is a good song and all, but it's a little too slow and somber for the type of music I'm looking for.

Jungle Book music is always good, and I haven't seen Aristocats in ages. I do remember O'Malley's theme being cool.

Mother Knows Best is another song that I just never really liked. I like the idea behind it, but something about the melody just irks me. Siamese Cats is a decent villain song, but kind of annoying. I could see myself skipping it in the car often. And... ugh... Home on the Range... I keep trying to block that one out from my memory.

I See the Light, That's How You Know, Prince Ali (of course) all good.

I don't remember the Hawaiian Rollercoaster song, but I barely paid attention to Lilo & Stitch. Not my favorite Disney movie.

Just remembered Zero to Hero from Hercules, perfect for the third CD.

More Hercules: Go the distance and I won't say I'm in love.

Hunchback: Topsy turvy day and Bells of Notre dame.

Mother knows best may have an annoying theme but what about the reprise?

Would any of Phil Collin's songs work for you (he did Tarzan and Brother Bear).

Romantic:
Love - Robin Hood
So this is love - Cinderella
Main theme from Lady and the Tramp

Hell Yeah:
The Phony King of England - Robin Hood

Not quite villainous and not quite Disney, but "Let my people go" from Prince of Egypt would be quite fitting I guess. "Playing With The Big Boys" from the same movie is straight up villain song and quite good at it.

I'm not really a fan of musicals, unless their sing a-longs about mad scientists or something like that, so I'm not really a fan of the Disney songs. They're just not my thing. I'll Make a Man Out of You and Gatson I do enjoy so I'm glad you have those.

I would suggest Hakuna Mattata, but I see you've addressed that already.

For the romantic CD, I Won't Say I'm in Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_bEWXs_FX4) is the single best song from Hercules I'd say. Edit: Oh, I see that's already on your list. Apologies. How'd I miss that?

For Hell Yeah!, I'd certainly include Perfect World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT4ySwoh27Q), the opening song from The Emperor's New Groove. Also, Prince Ali (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEryAoLfnAA&feature=related) from Aladdin - surprised that one's not on there already.

Pete’s Dragon
I swear I saw a dragon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRiBBvW_hhg&feature=related)
Money money, money by the pound (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPDfJekMyBU&feature=related)(apparently its also known as “every little piece”)
Brazzle dazzle day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVFVS_4mioI&feature=related)
Passamaquaddy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHboMLW-Zn0)
You can file “Passamaquaddy” and “Money, Money, Money by the pound" under villain songs, the rest can go under the last category.

I'm also looking for slower, more "diginified" (if that's the right word) versions of songs like A Whole New World and Once Upon a Dream that we can play at our wedding and hopefully slow-dance to.

The music from Once Upon A Dream is, appropriately enough, the waltz from Act I of Tchaikovsky's ballet Sleeping Beauty (http://youtu.be/J_oP2ltuNyk). You may need to hire a string quartet to slow it down and embellish the main theme for you, but that would be legendary.

Prince Ali (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEryAoLfnAA&feature=related) from Aladdin - surprised that one's not on there already.

I mentioned that too.

Wouldn't recommend Fantasia- it's not actually disney. Disney do not have the rights to make any Fantasia CD's.

"The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jw0HlB54CIw)-The Great Mouse Detective
It's Vincent Price, as a ra . . .big mouse, singing about his latest plot and how evil he is.
Definitely one of my favourites, and Disney does some awesome villain songs in the truest sense.
