Ok, we just finished our 2nd session. It was fun, we're held up in a haunted crypt resting in a locked door until next session. I think I may have given the party far to little in gear/gp for the monsters, but we did well. After several hours of game play and quite a lot of undead encounters I noticed a grave mistake. lol I had them encounter a shadow, with only three people able to deal damage. My evoker, (which was stunned for 3 rounds, (reserves of strength is hilarious)) an elven hound of the ranger, and a cleric, who was trying like mad to turn it. After a few bouts of 1d6 strength loss, they beat it.

It made the rest of the encounters really exciting and challenging, but going forward, I want the encounters to be challenging but not burn them out in one shot either. Since after this dungeon they are in is finished, I will make sure they get a pretty decent wad of cash, and their first access to a minor market of better items, weapons, armor ect.

So here is the run down of our party, currents stats(in order str, dex, con, int, wis, cha), feats, and future plans:

The Fighter - Dwarf

He's a level 3 fighter, who is going stone lord. He has power attack, he wield a tower shield, and swings a

dwarven war axe, and for the time being is a monster when he connects. His ac is low, 18 only, he took the -1 ac flaw and -2 to ranged attack flaw to get two feats. He also took the trait reckless. -1 hit +1 dmg.

Feats:
Dodge
Mobility
Weapon Focus: Axe
Dwarven Weapons
power attack
cleave

He also has a trained dog. nothing real special 1d6 + 3 damage.

The Cleric - Dwarf

The cleric is level 3. He's an Earth domain cleric, who also took the variant Divine Spellcaster from complete mage. He is going to become a hammer of Moridan as well. He is murky eyed, and also took the -6 to iniative.

Feats:
Weapon training war hammer
Augmented healing
Weapon focus war hammer
Iron will

The Evoker - Gnome

That's me and I am level 2. Almost level 3. At level 4, I will become a master specilist. I took the focused specialist variant. I have a homebrew version of the humming bird, minus the weapon finese.

My trait is, spellgifted, and my flaws are -1 ac, -2 to melee attack. I have banned, necro, enchantment, and illusion.

My feats are:
Spell Focus: Evocation
Iron Will
Reserves of Strength

I have a brown bear cub. Its not very strong, but I have sucessfully trained it to attack, come, and heal. It has a custom age table, but it won't be getting to the level of the MM brown bear for at least 4 months. If I am lucky
on age rolls. So chances are it might be dead before its scaled properly. I plan on crafting armor for it. AC 20, 1d4+2, small, 18 hp. He's hardy but won't pack much of a bunch. A little lower than a dog. No full atacks yet. not for another 120+ days of aging lol. (it ages 2d6+1 x 10
each real month if we left the session not engaged in a dungeon)

The roleplaying style is pretty lax, with this mage, he goes with the flow, tries way to hard to get a BIG BLAST with out thinking about smarter plays, he loves animals, and has taking some hits in his core class skills by pumping handle animal.

The Ranger - Elf

The ranger is level 3 elf. He is a two weapon user. He is putting a lot of faith in two weapon fighting. He will become the two weapon master prestige class soon. He also took the elven ranger variant in races of the wild, with a slight change, he is allowed to keep the d8 hit points.

Also, he wants to become after the master of two weapons, a Champion of Corellon Larethian. Of the 5 of us, he by far rolled the best stats.

He has an elven hound.

Feats:
Combat reflexes
weapon focus rapier
two weapon fighting
two weapon defense

The Rogue - Halfling

He's a level 2 rogue (damn close to level 3) He's a quirky rogue, who wield 12 daggers in a bandolier. He is obsessed with dagger fighting and collection religious artifacts. He wants to become a master thrower and invisible blade.

Feats
Weapon Focus Daggers
Precise Shot
Craven
Point Blank Shot

So there ya go. Pretty half-ass optimization and that's ok with me. My wizard plays like a fruitcake, blacking out half the battle from trying to go +3 on RoS all the time, the rogue is pretty stout, the fighter and ranger are incredibly powerful right now, and the cleric has not really gotten a chance to show his stuff. However, he didn't fair so well against the undead. He turned some skeletons but that was only 1 fight out of 7 we had.

They have no magical items yet. (partially why the shadow almost killed us), but I am going to try and bring them up to the wealth scale in the dmg, like I said they are really too low.

The Age of Worms has been suggested for an undead theme, but how about just a short thing that doesn't take too much to commit to?

Careful with going into an undead themed campaign, your Rogue may become upset.

He's ran by the same guy as the cleric, but I agree its a pain, he didn't mind nearly as much as the ranger with rapiers vs the skeletons though after taking 7 str ability damage from the shadow earlier on.
