This last session, I threw a measly shadow (or so I thought it would be measly) at our party of level 2s. There are 5 pc, an elven hound, a normal dog, and a bear cub. Well the cub can now fight, but if we encounter any other incorpeal beings (which I didn't read what that actually meant) in the future how can normal nonmagical animals get a magical type added to themselves.

Amulets of Natural Attacks, DMG should have them listed IIRC.

No, the DMG has Amulet of Mighty Fists. Amulet of Natural Attacks is here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fc/20060707a).

Congratulations, you've just introduced your PCs to the concept of using incorporeal undead against their enemies, which frequently lack magical weapons without upping the amount of vendor trash significantly.
