need to look up that Dragonmark before deciding purchases

Back to the Arena, eh? This seems like an interesting match-up.
Init: [roll0]
The dragonmark's Gust of Wind x2, Updraft x1. Still considering purchases; I'm not sure if there's much of anything that's going to help here.

who, you or me? Looks like we both had a bit of a time off
well, I don't want a mount and I don't want to fall. Let's try a trick I've held back for a long time
Psionic Tattoo of Expeditious Retreat ML 1 - 100 GP
Spell to Power Erudite, Scribe Tattoo feat
just to avoid another boring ranged fight because I can't catch my opponent
Sallera

Hah, Spell to Power.... decided it was time for another metagame change? Well, I don't mind for this match, it'll make things more interesting. I think I'll just get a potion of Lesser Vigor to extend my lifespan a little, and a tanglefoot bag for emergencies. Go ahead and start if you've nothing else to pick up.

*shrug* I found this trick for personal range spells well over a year ago, but had no match yet where it'd've been really useful. And I want to get to use my breath weapon another time :smallcool:
oh, I'll also get a sunrod. If that changes nothing
Start in Y13, normal shield equipped, holding lit bullseye lantern and lit sunrod
ANTE Turn 1
Move to W12
drop lantern in V12(centered U12/V13, pointing west), sunrod to mouth
Tap tattoo
done

err, I expect that's a gust to trigger whenever I'm within 60 ft and have empty air below my feet. Making it effectively a save or die...
Inconvenient, but I contemplated Enlarge Person for this exact reason and turned it down.
ANTE Turn 2
move: draw mace
Standard: Ready Action
move if Saiya tries to move, ready, attack, end turn
done
Stats
HP 9/9

can't fault you for trying. I think it would be less obvious if the Dragonmark was, you know, actually worth the feats outside the special setup of this map.
Anyway, readied triggers when ending turn. I move to L12-> K11, autosucceeding on the jumps with +9 overall thanks to +12 from speed.
ANTE Turn 3
step to J11
sunrod to hand
[roll0] halved, Reflex 14 halves again
[roll1]
[roll2]
done

Oh, I didn't build Saiya for this map, I just wanted to use the Mark of Storm. It's stylish. :smalltongue: Besides, it's also useful for knocking small characters prone and then splatting them with a Wolf Fang, and Updraft would come in handy in a less flat arena.
Anyway, Reflex: [roll0]
Saiya Ainsborough, Round 3
Standard: Steely Strike with the longsword.
Attack: [roll1]

Come to think of it, would've been awesome against Terran's Krunk too. Good chances of just pushing the tiny dragon out of the map.

ah, was a '?' one of those things that caused a roll tag to glitch? Luckily lack of an edit stamp shows no tampering happened despite red text

I still did with another 20 O.o crazy
well, that was over way faster than expected. Blame the dice, in this case nobody can object :smallwink:
Sallera
2012-01-22, 12:49 AM
Aye. I figured my chances with the bull rush were still better than my chances of hitting with a Wolf Fang while entangled, and if I'd gotten lucky, I could have pushed you all the way off and saved myself with an Updraft. :smalltongue:
TheFallenOne
2012-01-22, 12:57 AM
yes, mathematically it was the best choice at that point I think, you took too much damage already and ANTE is a battle-of-attrition type with the Rageclaws and deathdelaying Time mantle(that one's crazy)
What I don't get - why spiked shield instead of spiked armor? Former loses shield bonus when TWFing.
Sallera
2012-01-22, 01:27 AM
Hm, spiked armour probably would have been better, but I never really used the shield anyway. Always ended up wielding spear and sword for the ranged option and free hand.
TheFallenOne
2012-01-22, 01:49 AM
And another point is that TWFing with a spiked armor looks pretty strange when you think about it. I guess we both noticed that when trying to make descriptive texts for Grimmgang's Wolf Fang Strikes.
Anyway, has been a fun though short match
