Quick question on item bonuses and relative cost.

Hi, this has always been a bit of trouble for me; the cost of a magic item with an enhancement is equal to the bonus +1?

I.e. An Animated Shield ( Price says +2 Bonus ) is 9k because it is effectively a +3 item? Or is it 4k, because it says the price is the same as a +2 bonus- 4k?

Your shield costs 9k, because it is a +1 Animated Shield. You need the base +1 there. If you were to add Bashing on top of that, it would cost 16k, because it would have +4 worth of enhancements.

Ah I see! Because the Animated adds +2 to the cost on top of the necessary +1!
