So, I've been performing at the Bristol Rennaisance Faire for 11 years, and I'm a bit of a historical (or high fantasy pseudo-historical - it uses a lot of the same shapes) costume geek as a result. I usually only have the time to sew for paid commissions, but I just had an idea I like so much I might have to do it for fun. Two people I know bear a certain... resemblence to characters we know and love. It might, in fact, be the best idea ever to make certain costumes and have them model. Tell me if you guys can see what I see, too..

This is a friend of mine, also a performer at Bristol. He does a "bard" act where he roams around serenading audience members and making terrible D+D jokes.

This is the two of them together:

Does anyone else think it would be a really, really good idea to make some really high quality costumes and talk them into modeling for me? If so, which costumes would you like to see re-created in full detail?

I'd go for Resistance Haley and Eyepatch Elan. :smalltongue:

OotS cosplay is fun- I've dressed as Vaarsuvius for Halloween before. Aside from the hair colour not working properly, it was quite successful.

I can't tell if you're seriously asking for costume suggestions for those two- it's pretty obvious to me. :smallwink:

Can you spoiler the image? It's too big! Nice pictures though!

Are you sure they would want you posting their pictures on some random forum? I know I wouldn't, not without permission...

I was just going for "which era" suggestions, such as Requiem put forth above. Also, for input on costume details - like when Haley gets new armour in Sandsedge, she comments on how she's tired of wearing long leather pants. I'd love to know how people envision the costumes made in full 3-D.

Phantasm - Of course they are. One, I told them about all of this first, obviously. Two, they're both professional performers, and those pictures were all chosen off of groupings they've already chosen to represent themselves in public. In general, pro performers are excited for any excuse to have images of them performing (or headshots, or public appearance images, which those three were in respective order) spread around. Publicity, publicity, publicity.

I'd go for the classic. Elan-impersonator in green tunic, chain shirt if possible, sash, etc.; Haley-impersonator in midriff-baring armor.

*ALL* cosplay is silly, to some extent. That's the beauty of it.

Which is to say: great idea, please do it!
