So I have all the fluff and all the plotline set but not the BBEG.
:smalleek:

So what I need of the all powerfull playground is a lvl 15-20 build that has a "Keeper of dark secrets" or "Powefull Evil force."

If you can make it then I can use it.

Please help.

So how about Wizard, eh? Just build a standard Conjurer. Use the handbook example:

Just use the 15th level version as is, with the equipment, spell loadout, and strategy.

That's really vague. Can we have more info, like how you would like it to fight, any racial limitations etc?

Else, pour through the various MMs, I am sure there is something that will suit you. Else, the sky's the limit, ranging from a wizard7/loremaster10 to a glabrezu with lvs in fiend of possession to Dagon (a demon lord, see fiendish codex). :smalltongue:

Wizard/Tainted Scholar (HoH)?

Keeper of Dark Secrets... for some reason that just screams Archivist to me. This way he would know both divine and arcane spells. And you aren't as pigeonholed when looking for spells of ultimate carnage.

Alienist could also fit your concept, but we need to know a bit more.

Archivist is cool, or maybe a diviner/divine oracle/loremaster. You can always tack it on some intelligent monster or templates or something if a plain old humanoid isn't a suitably evil force in your mind. Maybe a Rakshasa or a mindflayer (you could just replace the default casting).

As for Pure Evil Force, that's very easy to pull off mechanically if you can fluff it up later.

Undead heavy campaign? Dread Necromancer 20. Arcane caster who turned into a lich to live forever. Very standard here, and normal builds work for NPCs.

Minion heavy campaign? Paladin of Slaughter / Tyranny or Hexblade 20. Knight gone bad, commanding a legion of evil underlings. Toss Leadership on him for the legion and watch the PCs cry.

Nature OR City heavy campaign? Evil Druid, possibly PrC into Blighter. Nature caster who knows whats best for the world or hates everything about it. Give it beastskin armor and wilding clasps on all its equipment so he can show up fully equipped anywhere at anytime.

Religion heavy campaign? Cleric / Favored Soul has you covered. Oh BOY do they have you covered. Take any one or two cleric domains from this list (http://home.comcast.net/~ftm3/JHtB/domains.html) (ignoring Holy ones) and build a character's motives around it. The character will write itself.

Dungeon / history heavy campaign? Have a Factotum / Bard / Rogue stumble across an ancient evil in a tomb that gives him great powers at the cost of his sanity. Find a template of your choice (Fiendish, Half Fiendish, Anarchic, Spellwarped, Voidmind all come to mind) that would augment the BBEG and give options on how to develop him into the end boss despite humble tier 3 beginnings.

Fantasy heavy campaign? Dragonfire Adept with Tiamat's Fivefold Breath. For the glory of the five-headed goddess! Toss in a few half dragons, draconic creatures, and anything from Races of the Dragon / Dragon Magic / Draconomnomicon for fluff, and have a Chromatic of your choice (or even an Aspect of Tiamat) show up in the end.

If you have Fiend Folio, use the Keeper race. Literally perfect for this concept.

Hmmm look into Joker Bard. With a bit of tweaking it can be the perfect BBEG :p

I've got to suggest Archivist as well. They're built around the whole "Keeper of Dark Secrets", and can easily fit a huge number of strategies. You've got your choice of every divine spell in the game, and if he's the BBEG who focuses on scouring the world for the darkest, most hidden knowledge, it's easy to justify whatever rare spells you need, no matter how obscure (Hunger Domain has a few really neat spells that are unique to the domain).

Try the killer gnome (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19872354/Shadowcraft_Mage_Handbook).

or the anti-batman wizard The Joker Bard (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5496158).

Build the most powerful thing you can. (Think Wish+Word)

Congratulations, you now have a villain for the rest of your life. Change his fluff, and don't use his almighty power for most things, concentrating on his "shtick."

Or, you know, you could let your villain be common and work on it. If you wanted.
