In your opinion, what do you think was the most epic OotS moment?
My personal favorites are:
120 (end of first book)
439 (I AM A SEXY SHOELESS GOD OF WAR!)
635 (epic and creepy. I jumped 5 feet into the air when I saw that.)
695 ( BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!! )

611 actually is pretty epic, now that I read it again :smallwink:

634 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0634.html) gives me shivers. The IFCC are so secure about their persuasive abilities that they give V a plan that won't give them V's soul (it wouldn't have worked, but V didn't realize that, so it's beside the point). And they're right to feel secrue, because then they prey on V's weaknesses. "We won't tell anyone there was another way to save your children if you don't." Chilling (in a good way).

Agreed, panel 3 of I Need a Hero (#613) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0613.html) still gives me chills.

I really like the exchange between Azurites and Death Knight in #440. "Surrender." "Burn." Reminds me of Ignus from Planescape.

"Ghost Martyrs of the Sapphire Guard, ARISE!".

When else does Xykon actually look like a skeleton might need Brown Pants.

Also, Weather Control. 'Nuff said.

655
661
795, 796, really all the Roy scenes through 808
And the biggest body count in the comic: 639

- Sexy Shoeless God of War
- Ghost Martyrs of the Sapphire Guard

And probably some more I just can't remember.

Familicide.

Took my breath away. Not epic in an 'AWESOME' sense, but epic nonetheless.

Some very recent examples.

827 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0827.html) - Thanh - "Do you require that it be an order? It is. A Direct order. GO!"
830 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0830.html) - Redcloak - "But if you're going to stand here and tell me that you'll expose on of those strings to him? If you're going to be THAT stupid? There can only be one rational response to that."

Note: The latest Team Evil arc has basically been Redcloak's epic moment, but 830 stuck out the most in my opinion.

YOU! BROKE! MY! SWORD! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0114.html) I believe is worthy of note as possibly the earliest awesome moment.

When Belkar snapped out of his dream coma and took down all those thieves' guilders... that was non-stop epic. Definitely #1 most epic moment in the strip.

#2: Ghosts of the Sapphire Guard nearly kill Xykon. Very epic.

#3: Elan returns and saves Haley from the imposter Nale. Haley professes her love.

"Disintegrate. Gust of Wind."

Most. Epic. Moment. Bar none.

You get a few pages worth of absolute seething hatred and rage at a particular individual and how he might escape retribution - and then Varsuuvius ENDS him.

You can't get better than that.

I read this comic for the spectacular villain writing more than anything else, and every one of the major villains has a scene I adore:

Tarquin: "If I win, I get to be a king. If I lose, I get to be a legend."
Xykon's whole lecture on power to V.
Redcloak coldly, brutally destroying Tsukiko.

Honestly, Tarquin in general is a bundle of epic moments. I think the comic where he ends it with a "Spoiler. They didn't", or something to that to say how a band of heroes couldn't stop him was in the top 5 "I roared with laughter" moments.

Ghost-Martyrs of the Sapphire Guard is pretty high up there.

And if by "epic" you mean "epicly groan-inducing", then Miko pulling defeat from the jaws of victory by destroying the Sapphire was a pretty epic moment.
