This is a Shannara-specific PrC (page 42 of Dragon #286), unless it's DM-fiated and refluffed into another setting. Somewhat useful, too. The Druid Sleep gives you semi-immortality, it's full casting, and includes things like Uncanny Dodge. Plus a +5 competence bonus on all Knowledge checks once you reach 9th level in it.

What I'm wondering about specifically is the 10th level ability. You can increase your abilities at the cost of health. It's 1 point of CON damage plus 1 per level of the spell you want to cast (damage is suffered immediately after the spell is cast). Using this to cast a 9th level spell ages you by 2d4+2 years on top of the CON damage. Could this ability be used to cast a 9th level spell when you don't actually have a 9th level spell slot in the first place, as long as you're willing to burn the years and CON damage? I don't see why it wouldn't, given that you're going above and beyond, so even if you've used up all your spell slots for the day, you can still burn health and years to keep on casting.

If you didn't actually have 9ths, the slot would have to be used for a lesser spell that's had metamagic applied to it (unless you have a Knowstone or something to that effect that adds 9th level spells to your list - a Spellpool would probably also work to add spells in theory), but is the concept sound?

(Gaining some sort of immunity to death by old age - such as an Elan - and immunity to CON damage would make this quite breakable.)
