It's a campaign that's grabbed my attention and interest each time I've seen the bits and pieces of it that Dragon magazine published on a pieacemeal basis, and one that I'm quite interested in running myself. Trouble is, it seems like the resources and articles for it are spread over Gods-know-how-many issues of said magazine. So, I ask the playground:

-For one, has anyone created a comprehensive list of each Dragon issue with Isle of Dread content?

-Is there any web content I should know about?

-Does a thread like this already exist? :smalltongue:

According to The Dragondex (http://www.aeolia.net/dragondex/), The Isle of Dread appears in issues 350, 351, and 352. Page numbers are conveniently given in parenthesis next to the issue number.

Is this based on the old D&D module?

That was the cover from the 1980 edition. The budget for art wasn't all that much back then...

I also happen to own that version, as well as the blue cover version from when I first got into D&D back in high school/junior high. So I'll thank you to not mock my memories! :smallwink:

The cover art is by Timothy Truman, who did quite a lot of early D&D art. I really like some of his stuff - that cover is not exactly an example of his finer pieces.

The Isle of Dread is a huge part of the campaign from a series of dungeon magazines, Savage Tide.

It goes from 1st level all the way through 20th, where you arrive at the Isle of Dread at 4th or 5th.

I'm currently playing this campaign once per week, have been doing so for about a year now. We're currently 14th level, and still thrashing about on Isle of Dread. I don't think we're supposed to be there for the rest of the campaign, but we're not nearly finished.

If you can find a DM to run it for you, it's really great fun! Relatively high powered, I would say, just enough to be challenging.
