I remember reading about a minor deity in some story setting who didn't want to be a God, he just wanted to be left alone, but people wouldn't stop worshipping him.

He was some sort of large stone, humanoid creature, and was completely apathetic about being a God.

Anyone know who I'm on about? If so please tell me because for the life of me I can't remember it's name.

Thanks,
K-B

It sounds vaguely familiar... could he be from a Discworld novel...?

I'm not seeing an image on that page. Some sort of error.

There was a god of atheism in Warbreaker, a Sanderson novel. Though not really made from stone.

Gods, there, would be those who died, and came back immortal, physically perfect and with the ability to give their lives again to work a great miracle. One of them was greatly annoyed by this and all his worship and just wanted to be left alone.

Try this (http://www.drunkduck.com/The_Gods_of_ArrKelaan/5227993/) or that (http://www.drunkduck.com/The_Gods_of_ArrKelaan/4970278/).

I think this god fits the description perfectly, though he wasn't technically a god of atheism, but rather of bravery. He did hate being worshiped and didn't believe that he (or any of the other gods) were gods. His name was Lightbringer.

Kobold-Bard may have gotten the stone bit from the reveal at the climax of the book. Not going to post it, spoilers and all that.

It wasn't him (though I am going to read that now so thanks).

He was literally a stone person type thing, as in made of stone, like a D&D stone golem. He was a minor deity that just wanted to be forgotten, but wasn't.

I'm starting to think I imagined it, but I'm so sure I didn't.

Anyway, thanks for the efforts, I appreciate it.

Ligthsong, actually*. I'd say it's my second favourite Sanderson book after Way of Kings. Lightson is very quoteable.

Coincidentally, the book is up for free on Sanderson's homepage. (http://www.brandonsanderson.com/library/)

*Interestingly, Lightbringer could translate as Lucifer, which would have been a fun injoke.

Ahh right, sorry about that. In fact it's probably due to the Lucifer/Lightbringer connection that I made the swap.

I believe you're thinking of Bilious, the "oh-god" of hangovers.. in the hogfather
or possibly the turtle-Om
neither quite seems to fit though
