Hybrids

Does anyone have any idea about rules or sources of outlines of rules f creating hybrid creatures? Like adding a creature as a template to another creature?

The closest I can find is Symbiotic Creature (SS), homebrew rules are fine if anyone can provide information.

Savage Species also has the Tauric creature template (just under symbiotic). I have never used it, so I can't speak to its balance, but it looks pretty cool.

I remember rules about combining two different creatures into a single one before in an official book, though darned if I can remember which one. I think it's what the Amalgam template posted here is based on, but it's been too long since I looked at it.
